Fatal Accident in Chiang Mai Claims Five Lives Including Pregnant Woman
Agreed. They were very effective public safety campaigns - supported by effective, targeted policing. I'm not sure the police here would be capable/willing to provide the necessary support.

British Man Arrested in Bangkok Over Defamation Claims by Phuket Restaurant
I don't know why, but Thai police seem to excel in gaining confessions. Maybe it's the 50% reduction in punishment for a guilty plea, or maybe it's tying plastic bags over the suspect's head.

Driver Ignores Red Light Resulting in Serious Accident and Several Injuries in Pattaya
You seem very certain. I can't see anything in the Land Traffic Act, except that one must stop at a red light. I have seen signs forbidding left turns, but I have also seen signs permitting left turn (which would suggest that permission is required). Do you have a link to the traffic law, or regulation? Not challenging you, just looking for clarification.

Driver Ignores Red Light Resulting in Serious Accident and Several Injuries in Pattaya
My understanding is that a left turn on red is only allowed if there is a sign allowing it. So, in the absence of a sign one must stop.

Pregnant Woman Alleges Sexual Assault by Thai Doctor
She should have suspected something was wrong when the doctor said "Please remove all your clothes and put them over there, next to mine". Credit to Barry Cryer (rip).

Its no wonder they dont want any competition in Thailand
Sounds like a classic "bait and switch". Advertise a non-existant product at a low price, hoping to sell a different product at a higher price.

Netflix Stand-up Comedian Criticized for Misinterpreting Thai Philosophy
To be serious for a moment. The "Sufficiency Economy" is very much associated with the late King. Taking the pee out of His ideas was bound to result in outrage (genuine, or faux), so it's no surprise that a complaint has been filed. Of course, it is possible that the comedy sketch was intended to cause outrage. No publicity is bad publicity - as the saying goes.

Maybe he could have got away with it if he'd included a fat ladyboy, a bald man and a few gongs and whistles.

Caballo white spirit
I would agree, but a hint of banana.
-
Caballo white spirit
I am by no means an aficionado of spirits. However, I would say that it is not a neutral flavour - more of a hint of fruit - banana. I have a bottle in the freezer, so I'll just pour a drop (neat) and remind myself of the taste.
-
Caballo white spirit
I can't say that it tastes similar to any other spirits that I might imbibe. I'd admit that I tasted a pleasant hint of banana - but that could be some sort of 'auto suggestion' from reading the label. In any case 199THB for 750ml of 40%ABV seems pretty good value - and it definitely does not taste like paint stripper, like some of the other Thai spirits - IMO.

Caballo white spirit
At the risk of seeming to be a cheapskate alcoholic, I would like to recommend Caballo. It's a 40% ABV spirit and only 199THB for a 750cl bottle. The only place I've found it so far is in Lotuss's Surin. But I expect it's available elsewhere. I'm pretty certain that when I first saw it, a couple of years ago, the label described it as a 'distilled banana spirit'. However, that description does not appear on the label of the bottle I bought most recently. IMO this spirit is quite pleasant to be sipped neat, and can make a nice long drink with coke or orange juice and ice.

Navy Officers Heroically Aid Traffic Accident Victim in Chon Buri
RTN personnel are quite often seen directing traffic in Sattahip. Not sure about routine road patrols, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Can anybody identify this?
Spider fangs 3-4mm apart seems unlikely. Myth: You can always tell a spider bite because a spider leaves two punctures. Fact: There is a germ of truth in this idea, but only a very tiny germ. Spiders do have two venom-injecting fangs and typically bite with both at the same time. However, in any spider smaller than a tarantula, the entry points of the two fangs will be so close together that there is little if any visible separation. Also, the fangs are so slender and sharp that the actual entry points are all but invisible. When you have a "bite" with two separated marks, it is either caused by a bloodsucking insect that has bitten twice (a common occurrence), or is a double skin eruption arising from one disease condition or arthropod bite, also a common occurrence. https://www.burkemuseum.org/collections-and-research/biology/arachnology-and-entomology/spider-myths/myth-spider-bites-leave

Diary of a farang in Isaan
Hate to say it (and I think I've said it before), now that the recent debts are paid off, it's time to spend, spend, spend (and borrow - with or without your knowledge) until the next crisis. Seems that some folks never learn from past mistakes. Good luck!

The Move Forward Party in Thailand is at risk of dissolution
It's even worse. The leaders of the party will likely be banned from politics for at least 10 years, maybe even jailed - for suggesting that parliament should debate whether ancient LM laws should be adjusted for modern times.
