I don't know why, but Thai police seem to excel in gaining confessions. Maybe it's the 50% reduction in punishment for a guilty plea, or maybe it's tying plastic bags over the suspect's head.

You seem very certain. I can't see anything in the Land Traffic Act, except that one must stop at a red light. I have seen signs forbidding left turns, but I have also seen signs permitting left turn (which would suggest that permission is required). Do you have a link to the traffic law, or regulation? Not challenging you, just looking for clarification.

My understanding is that a left turn on red is only allowed if there is a sign allowing it. So, in the absence of a sign one must stop.

Taking the pee out of His ideas was bound to result in outrage (genuine, or faux), so it's no surprise that a complaint has been filed. Of course, it is possible that the comedy sketch was intended to cause outrage. No publicity is bad publicity - as the saying goes.

I am by no means an aficionado of spirits. However, I would say that it is not a neutral flavour - more of a hint of fruit - banana. I have a bottle in the freezer, so I'll just pour a drop (neat) and remind myself of the taste.

I can't say that it tastes similar to any other spirits that I might imbibe. I'd admit that I tasted a pleasant hint of banana - but that could be some sort of 'auto suggestion' from reading the label. In any case 199THB for 750ml of 40%ABV seems pretty good value - and it definitely does not taste like paint stripper, like some of the other Thai spirits - IMO.

At the risk of seeming to be a cheapskate alcoholic, I would like to recommend Caballo. It's a 40% ABV spirit and only 199THB for a 750cl bottle. The only place I've found it so far is in Lotuss's Surin. But I expect it's available elsewhere. I'm pretty certain that when I first saw it, a couple of years ago, the label described it as a 'distilled banana spirit'. However, that description does not appear on the label of the bottle I bought most recently. IMO this spirit is quite pleasant to be sipped neat, and can make a nice long drink with coke or orange juice and ice.

RTN personnel are quite often seen directing traffic in Sattahip. Not sure about routine road patrols, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Spider fangs 3-4mm apart seems unlikely. Myth: You can always tell a spider bite because a spider leaves two punctures. Fact: There is a germ of truth in this idea, but only a very tiny germ. Spiders do have two venom-injecting fangs and typically bite with both at the same time. However, in any spider smaller than a tarantula, the entry points of the two fangs will be so close together that there is little if any visible separation. Also, the fangs are so slender and sharp that the actual entry points are all but invisible.
