  1. It's an odd thing here. I ride a motorbike and have a a few occasions stopped to let someone cross. One time I stopped to let a pregnant woman cross on the zebra turning onto Ratchada pisek road opposite Major cineplex on Prahonyoutin road. 2 girls managed to fall off their motorbike and some Thai bloke came running up and BLAMED ME! I just told him to sod off in English. Girls were ok so I went. It's bloody dangerous stopping at all for someone to cross.

  2. Of course they have been a waste of time and money. Tax payers money. I cross the road most evenings between the Train park and JJ Park. Motorcycle taxis come flying down the cycle lane. If Thais can find a way to break a law and abuse something, they will. I then attempt to cycle back up the cycle lane with Thais on motorbikes flying down the cycle lane at over 60kph. Also you have to ride on the right of the lane which nearly causes head on accidents. What a balls up!

  3. Kind of a heartless thing to say about someone who was just killed in a traffic accident that she did not cause. How exactly do you learn anything when the event being discussed kills you? Rest In Peace.

Do we not learn by others mistakes? Only a fool doesn't wear a seatbelt. Princess Diana would still be with us if she had been wearing one.

  4. Yet another sad report.

Another road kill by yet another idiot. Sorry but these people have little or no sense of public highways.

Last week my gf asked me to visit her brother at the Ramathibodi Hospital, against my better judgement we took a van and the exact same route, Navanakorn to Victory Monument.
It's been six months since I've been in one of those vans and I can tell you nothing has changed, no seat belts and a feeling of complete vulnerability as the van hurtled down the highway.
Today we are visiting her brother again and yes I drove this time, and never complained about the traffic or finding a parking place !!
Van ? Never, ever again !!

Last got in a van at Christmas 1999, told my then girlfriend I couldn't go to khon gan and had Christmas in BKK alone. Never again

  5. Riding a motorcycle in Thailand for the better part of the last 30 years from big choppers to a  scooters, my biggest fear was not be hit from behind by a careless and distracted drivers, which are plenty of them around, other than that, I ride with a mindset of a racing driver, watching and calculating what other road users all around me are doing and to preempt a disaster.... Once I was hit head on while waiting in a red lights  by a out of control pickup and broke my left wrist bone, other than that,  so far so good...

I'm exactly the same as you. What's he doing? Is that car turning? Is he going to turn left or just forgot to cancel his indicator. Am I doing 40? Slow down I'm doing 60 ...an so on. Thais don't do this, they look 5 feet in front and if it'd clear, no probs.
