Yes yes, enforce the law. Leaf by example. BIB practicing this at the lights when on red yesterday and followed the other bikes through the red.
No change will happen in my lifetime

At the lights yesterday on red. Some motorbikes jumped the lights, then the copper on a CBR 300 got in on the act and went too! Same old same old. The bib don't even teach by example.

Really? I thought USA would have pushed this law through nation wide.
I wonder what the stats are for deaths

Good luck with that. Saw a big BMW trying to do that on that roller coaster called Bangnatrat. He didn't keep it up for long.

Well sometimes you get an idea of what's about to happen, that and the fact that I felt myself 'touching cloth' I guess was my primeval 'fight or flee' instincts kicking in.

A little off the point but I was on my motorcycle when a Thai on a bike cut me up. We pulled up at the lights andvi said something about being careful, his hand went inside his jacket but the girl on the back stopped him taking whatever it was out .. Draw your own conclusions.

Well, I saw the 2 chaps on the Honda CBR 150 withe identical cream jackets arrive at the condo for their weekly money collection. (:

Christ! Course people shouldn't travel in the back of pickups. Its a no brainer. Accident and most dead.
I was in the back of my aunts Peugeot van in ... 1987, my aunt was heavily fined for that.
If only Thailand could move into the 20th century. 21st would be impossible.

I applaud the writer of this article... hit the nail right on the head!! Have to agree with many of the comments already made particularly about having it translated to Thai and passed onto all national newspapers for publication. I see todays news that FINALLY they are making riding in the back of pickups ILLEGAL... NOT BEFORE TIME!!
Yes, now if they could also realise that dustbin men traveling on top of a dustbin truck is also illegal

It'll all be forgotten about in a month.
Having lived here and used the roads for 20+ years standards have got worse not better.
Being a cynical negative bugger nothing will change

Like a troop of monkeys. A rabid attack will ensue when one of the group starts on a interloper.
The monkeys in the group will continue to the death.
Scarey if any of us foreigners ate involved in a fracas

Great idea for the economy.NOT. Has anyone worked out the loss to the economy if this is adhered to?

Disgusting. How can they justify two tier pricing? Its so wrong on so many levels. Stuff them, after being here over 20 years how can the ask me to pay more than a Thai?
The authorities always think as far as the end of their noses.
PATHETIC.

What they asking for? Oh not to enforce the wearing of seatbelts. At the end of the day what they're asking is that the poor bastards in these tin cans driven by maniacs be allowed to bounce around like a pea in a tin in the event of an accident. Great forward thinking about the same as thinking as far as the tip of their noses.

Pathetic. Same old same old every year. Let's leave the drains blocked, chuck plastic bags on the canal and never build a bloody road with a camber in order to increase standing water.
No hope because there's zero joined up thinking in LOS.

Impossible. Jump in any taxi and try to put s belt on in the back. Buckles buried in the boot because the seat covers look nicer. Blacked out windows means you can't check anyway. Also, I never see police on patrol.
Total waste of tax payers dosh.

Has anybody been watching Doctors on the Beeb? Doctor Jimmy has come back after coming to Thailand and staying at a temple 'a new man'

Great idea but they must sort out the infrastructure first. Encourage private investment in the installation of charging areas, also if they are going to charge import tax of 200% you will only get the well heeled purchasing these conveyances.
I do hope they look at the UK where there are subsidies given when buying an electric vehicle.
People here are not going to pay 3000,000 for a Renault Zoe when they can buy a Toyota for 800,000. If taxed high for importing it will be a non starter.
I for one will not be holding my breath.
