So maybe you know the answer to the question that I have posed many times on these threads, but never received a satisfactory reply - if Scotland is a drain on England's resources, why would a country that happily allows ex servicemen to live and die on the streets, hang on to an ungrateful and unsupportive people who do nothing but agitate against them?

If you want a satisfactory reply, ask a satisfactory question.

Sandy, I did not say this was fake but I am saying that it is the type of threat that is typical of the EU.

Your added links refer to Scottish independence, not these EU threats.

BBC News (hopefully, real) Iran says its military "unintentionally" shot down a Ukrainian passenger jet, killing all 176 people on board, Iran's state TV reports.

    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-51073621

"In a tweet on Saturday, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif suggested "US adventurism" was partly to blame for the downing of the Ukrainian jet."

    Another fabulous quote:

"It apologized and said it would upgrade its systems to prevent future tragedies."

And Iran wants nuclear weapons? I won't state the obvious except to say that what Iran really needs is a regime change, a real "systems upgrade".

And they are still lying with this (from the same BBC story):

The military said the jet turned towards a sensitive site belonging to Iran's Revolutionary Guards and was then mistaken for a hostile aircraft.

Such rubbish. The 737 was climbing on runway heading, as is normal, when it was hit. Systems upgrades don't count for anything if there is a nutter with the trigger.

The Rule Britannia mentality leads them their I guess.

Funny reading the objections from some of the brexiters to the continued use of sterling in Scotland.

These are the same people promising a unicorn for everyone: amongst other fairytale promises - a  substantive FTAs negotiated and concluded with the EU in the next 11 months and a borderless island of Ireland with customs checks done virtually by yet to be invented technology.

But yet when it comes to the not unheard of practice of a sovereign state using someone else’s currency, all of a sudden it is way too hard...

Too hard if you want to hook up with the EU anyway.

If Scotland voted to leave the UK, I don't think it would be up to the people in Scotland whether they want to keep using the GBP. I believe that decision would be for the UK government to make.

I'd like to think the UK would be reasonable and allow an independent Scotland to keep using GBP, at least for a transition period. But during that period you would have the UK dictating fiscal policy, so it would be a currency union.

I don't think that the EU would allow that, eh?

Hmmm, I flew a LH Airbus BKK-FRA-BKK back in Nov. I am not sure what the news is here. During peak season there are normally 2 flights a day, one using a 777-200er and the other a A380. It's been like this for years.

Not news really. LH changed to an A380 from the A340 for the high season before Christmas.

Other news is that Luftwaffe don't have any 777 variants in their fleet.
