Its obvious we need a striker who isn't frickin useless AND a Dembele replacement as seems Levy wants his £11m at the expense of potentially wrecking our top four spot.

    Sheer madness this week.

As long as we have H we are never going to buy another out and out CF.

  3. Comment from Reddit ( Man utd fanzine ) Victor Lindelof walks off with €350m in his pocket. Masterclass!

Obviously it was a coincidence that Rick wrote something very similar ???????? nothing like a poster who can think for himself ????

You really are a lost cause... the answer is yes. Because all those passes were judged to have been 'key', whereas the 7 shots could have sailed over the bar, gone wide, or the ones on target could have been straightforward saves.

Mate, it's time for a reality check. You support Spurs. A team which has taken out a patent on falling short when it really matters. Last night was just another chapter in your long history of bottling it.

You are a little like Spurs aren't you? Think you are clever arguing points down to the finest detail, but when you come up against someone willing to put the time into exposing you (i.e. @Bredbury Blue), you get your arse handed to you, and end up apologising.

Your football team should look themselves in the mirror. You should look yourself in the mirror. Or actually, don't bother. Give up on football and life.

    what like you saying

and I'm sure our key passes etc were shared around more than yours

which is deemed to be totally incorrect, another Utd know all !

I neither said or implied that you said it wasn't a good goal. But you took away from the great goal with "Put that defeat down to another error by Tripps". That's rubbish! As i stated Trippiers error was miles from your goal with plenty  to do for ManU, but a brilliant pass from Poobear and a great finish turned a nothing turnover in to a great goal.

    Was my statement

the crux of it is that if Tripp doesn't give the ball away then there is no goal.

    correct or not ?

Trust you to be the kind of guy to bring up these meaningless stats. I feel a little lame bringing this up but I have worked for one of these stat companies... 7 shots, or even four on target, is not a meaningful statistic. I believe most keepers would have saved all but 2 or 3 that DDG did last night.

On the other hand, key passes is more meaningful... and I'm sure our key passes etc were shared around more than yours, and that's fine, because we aren't a one man team.

There were times in that game when yes, I felt that Lindelof had Kane in his pocket. Especially considering this is the 'big hope' of English football, coming up against a young guy who had largely been a squad player up until this season. I'm not saying he kept Kane 100% quiet (Jones was actually marking him some of the time), but it stood out to me. No statistics you can reel off will change that impression.

You don't get it, who's talking about gk saving shots, the point is Kane got off 7 shots and was productive all game and was said to have a good game, all this with being in Lindelofs pocket.

So key passes is more meaningful that shots on target, yeah ok

    Quote

fancy coming out with something like that when spurs had 61 % possession, and for your info key passes for spurs were 16 amongst 9 players, Utds were 9 amongst 5 players.

Mate, your just another bias Utd fan who sees a different game to anyone else, as for working for a stats company, so what, doesn't mean anything .

Give credit where it's  due - and I'm  a biased City fan - that was a cracking goal! Trippier gave the ball away 55-60m from goal; ManU had it all to do from that position and executed it very well.

Where have i said it wasn't a good goal ? the crux of it is that if Tripp doesn't give the ball away then there is no goal.

I'm not in the business of writing essay-length replies splitting hairs, but as @Bredbury Blue rightly pointed out, when you watch your own team live there is a tendency to concentrate on your players, rather than what the opposition is doing. There were plenty of times when Lindelof perfectly anticipated the runs of Kane, and snuffed him out altogether. In some cases a tackle wasn't even needed. All in the positioning.

And as for this ridiculous 'if it wasn't for the keeper' argument. If it wasn't for Mbappe France wouldn't have won the World Cup. If it wasn't for Ronaldo, Real Madrid wouldn't have won three consecutive Champions Leagues. Yes, we have a good keeper. One that we took a chance on when he was very young, and stuck with him through a very rocky first season. That's the end of it. We are allowed to have a good keeper.

And a final thought for Harry Kane. He's a decent player is Kane. But there looks to be a good chance he will go through his career without winning anything of note. Maybe we can set up some counselling sessions for him with Matt Le Tissier.

Well that certainly applies to your self watching Kane according to these stats

Kanes stats 7 shots, 4 on target, 3 key passes, 28 passes, he was snuffed out but but managed these stats ????

Martial stats 2 shots, 1 on target, 2 key passes, 25 passes

Rashford stats 3 shots, 1 on target, 0 key passes, 16 passes.

    How many is plenty ? 1-3 4-6 7-9

There were plenty of lofted through balls through those channels that nearly put us through. Ignorance is bliss ey? Well you have a good enough manager not to ignore it. And also you won't be facing strikers with our pace every week.

And by the way, I hope Lindelof didn't put his shorts straight in the wash after the game. Otherwise Captain Kane could have got very wet indeed!

If your implying that Lindelof had Kane in his pocket then that explains that you was watching a different game.

  12. 42 minutes ago, RickG16 said:

Like Ole said, he could have held onto a few of them, and the fact he stopped them with his feet made them look more like 'worldies'. A few you would back most keepers to save.

The worrying thing for you lot is that we gave a demonstration in how to cut you open. There was about 4km in between your centre backs and your full backs. Expect more teams to go down those channels now.

Demonstration in how to cut you open ! how many times and how many chances did you have from it ? in fact even for the goal you hardly cut us open, it was more our full back gave the ball away, the the opposite full back was high up the pitch because we was in possession so i think it was more of a case of cutting our self open.

I agree. When I heard him speak it sounded a bit early Mourinho ish at United, dropping hints about lack of spending money almost  a very thinly veiled threat.

Obviously he mixed it with a load of positive and nicely nicely stuff about wanting to stay another 20 years etc........didn’t Mourinho say some thing about wanting to spend the rest of his days at United too.

Clearly this guy is a one off and worked miracles on a budget and what he has achieved as a result is clear to all. He must be ambitious and wanting to test himself as far as he can so every manager in his position must have a point where he wants to buy more players and see how far he can go.

What hint did he drop as i must have missed it ?

Thoought we were lucky to win last night imo  the only reason they didnt win was they got jack shit up front put a decent striker their way and imo  they could/ would have walked it.. the second half we looked shockingly tired and tbh baring the arsenal 2 nd half last nigjt  has to go down as the worst performance i've seen certainly since poch arrived possibly longer.. still 1.0 at half time ALL to play for.

Crikey you cant have seen many games (did you see the Wolves game ), we was under the cosh for 75% of the game and didn't concede due to good defending and being organized, in years gone by we would have caved in, performances ain't just based on scoring goals and attacking football you know :1zgarz5:

Anyway i take your comment with a pinch of salt when you've seen Verts play 2 seasons at left back under Redknapp !

It has EVERYTHING to do with our finances ronnie atm we choose or cant compete.. when our finaces imprive i presume there will be no excuse NOT to compete

for clubs in our pos' ie chaps lge ect ect we  pay loads less eg barca av squad wage was somethin like  110 ours was 65 ish ..bottom of the chart .  from what i"ve heard from pros WAGES are  the key .. glamour and prestige come a second .. to get those marquee ish  signings to replace  top draw players that move on we need to pay/compete  or perhaps we risk fallin into the europa lge/non european wilderness    and alfie get  a life surely you"ve got better things to do than pic holes in EVERY post i make

Sorry that i disagree with you but i thought this was an open forum !

Interesting times at tottenham.. for us to keep this team together and to take the next step up ie win titles without  a radical change in our transfer policy aint gonna be easy, we know it, the press know it, everybody knows it.. now poch has come out and said it.. imo puts a WHOLE new dimension to it. I read it , others may read it diferently  but to me there was an element in there of  ' well we'll need to spend or i'm off' it wasnt the absolute intention of poch's statement but i cant help thinkin it was in there somemwhere.. after watchin levy operate  at tottenham for how many decades poch makin sayin that  NOT the easiest of roads to take.. however poch IS in as strong a position as i've ever seen a manager in at tottenham .. so it'll be interesting to see how it pans out.. bearing in mind 7 straight defeats and ANY prem manager is likely to lose their job

And yeah alfies right looks like ericson will be off. Shame but hey thats where we are at the mo with our finances

So Poch ses "I hope, or I wish to be here 20 years, and decide to leave or to finish my career here," said Pochettino and you deduce he's talking about leaving if he doesn't get any money, when he knows the financial situation, your mind works in strange ways !

Pochettino making a lot of noise about wanting to stay at Spurs.  Having read his comments i doubt he'll be leaving.  Which is strange because Jamie Carragher has been chirping on about him "having to go to United"   It now appears he doesn't have to go. ( I'm far more concerned about Eriksen.  He's the only one that hasn't signed a new contract.  I'm making the presumption that Toby and Dembele are going.)

What on earth are the pundits going to talk about now?  Strange because at other times it's like we officially don't exist. When City were lying in third and due to play Liverpool it was described on one website as the top two playing each other.  When City beat Liverpool apparently there were two teams in the title race again.  Apparently we do not exist. We're still locked in the Sky sports days where they displayed background pictures of five of the top six clubs.  Pochettino's photo was nowhere to be seen.  We were currently lying in fourth????????

They only conclusion i can draw is that they cannot and will not accept the fact that we spend little or no money which is,  frankly very sad.

I think Eriksen will be going carms, but getting 80-100m for him considering he'll only have a year to run of his contract will be good money, just need to replace him with similar quality which will be very difficult.

Sorry for putting you through that carms :jap:
