Demand For 712 Baht Minimum Wage Nationwide At May Day Rally
mommysboy replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
You answered with exaggerated examples, eg, you countered not with one teacher but two living together. Life sucks! What then Communism? Well clearly it will not be possible to go on like this. I suspect no we will not change - so I'd guess famine, war, suffering on a large scale in all honesty. That's why to be honest I won't get lost in meaningless arguments. But yes a bit of socialism. Why not? after all we've got socialism for the rich, haven't we- too big to fail and all that!? -
Demand For 712 Baht Minimum Wage Nationwide At May Day Rally

I doubt you ever did for very long. Most reasonable people support the notion that a bread winner working 6 days a week ought to be able to reasonably fend for his/her family. I think too that most Thai teachers are likely on a lousy wage in all honesty. This is a really low wage economy without much of a welfare system. Mate- it's not happening anymore- that western capitalist dream- it's just taking money from the poor to give to the rich, and there's not even so many rich people these days, race to the bottom. It did appear to work, in my family many decades ago, but you're well behind the times. -

Yeah let's just go on repeating the same tropes! Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm not giving up- I'm doing my own thing, that's for sure. -

No good spouting 19th century economics that never ever worked. I don't know the answer but there is terrible wealth inequality, so some how that needs to be addressed. It can't go on. Effectively, we have zombie businesses being propped up by the already poor. Tht's obscene in my view. Better to admit the economy is utterly shot. -

Ok, but what's your point? -
Honestly I don't know why Vaping has even mentioned as a causative factor here, especially with air pollution being so bad over the last few months. Viral/ bacterial infection, chronic bronchitis, acid reflux, allergies are all likely more significant factors, than one or two puffs on a vape pen now and then. Obviously smoking weed is legal in Thailand, so why not do that if you really need it. After all we're only talking about an insignificant amount. Ps: the symptoms you describe could be post-nasal drip. Do you have an allergy at present, eg, dry weather allergy, reaction to smog?
-
Likely air pollution is the most common cause. Vaping THC (as distinct from nicotine vaping) has been implicated in acute lung injuries in rare instances. But you use it so sparingly that it can't possibly be the cause. Acute lung injuries from vaping are rather rare, not even proven, and tend to occur in young people who consume industrial amounts, often where mixed drug use is a factor.

They will bark and alert you to potential burgers. Rather burgers than hotdogs I guess!

LOL, e cigarettes can explode! Yeah happens all the time. It's the usual pilot studies, exaggerations, etc. For instance some people could suffer some acute lung damage (hypersensitive pneumonitis) but it's a tiny fraction of users. Prints even in respected journals are not good evidence. I guess people believe what they want to believe. The court of public opinion want to believe it's dangerous, therefore it is dangerous. This is fact based from the horse's mouth: https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/quit-smoking/using-e-cigarettes-to-stop-smoking/#:~:text=E-cigarettes are not currently,retailers%2C or on the internet.

UK Health authorities base judgements and policies on solid scientific evidence from the most respected real scientific bodies as well as its own commissioned research. Reports on Tik-Tok by teenagers, their mates, and supposedly what a doctor said really don't count. The bulk of so called 'evidence' often regurgitated ad-nauseum by the Daily Mail for instance come from from outliers, pilot studies, and hugely biased sources, and often add confounding factors such as other drug use which are the more obvious causes, nevertheless there is such an overwhelming desire to prove vaping is dangerous that truth and fact go straight out the window. Teenagers in particular neglect to mention vaping cannabis oil.

Do you apply this attitude to all diseases, ailments, infections? For instance, all this applies to flu, broncho viruses, etc, as well as umpteen other things. Life must be hell for you. Unfortunately, we have to take small risks in our stride. Certain modifications may be in order, for instance wearing a mask if you prefer. Perhaps you never got covid19 in which case I guess I can understand your attitude, but you can't extrapolate that to most of the population. We don't do this with any other disease, do we?
-
People are right to point out the ongoing dangers of Covid19 to those who are already very frail, but to extrapolate this hazard as applying to the general public would be scaremongering, especially as most people have had already covid19 at least once. There is a need for perspective. If some members persist in peddling fear then quite frankly they shouldn't be surprised if they are met with stiff opposition- sometimes we can be in the wrong without realizing it while the rest of the world regards our behavior as rather tiresome.

Myanmar Man Found Dead, Likely Infected With New Omicron Strain

It's not like you drop dead of it. To be in a near death state he wouldn't have been up and about, now would he! -
The days of generous pensions will be a thing of the past. The best thing the majority of people can hope for will be some kind of pension, and good health so they can work until they die. Having property could be a double edged sword since those who do may be expected to self fund social care. Not looking good- I can understand why young people feel downcast.

Thailand's economy to grow 3.6 pct in 2023: World Bank
mommysboy replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
And yet ordinary citizens seem to be getting poorer. -
It's wrong for sure but I understand why. In my earlier days if the pay was rubbish, it was accepted people would work a number of some sort, or simply earn a bit extra on the side, and kind of just do the minimum at the full time job. Now people often have to work hard for poor pay. That's even more wrong in my books.

Thailand's ok but when the brown stuff hits the fan... as it surely does sooner or later? Good for a single guy with substantial means for sure regardless.
