I also heard the Garmin shop in Panti plaza is closed
I saw K-Phone in Central Festival is selling Garmin GPS-devices.

Have been hearing about new railways for about a decade now. CM-BKK still 13 hours by train, I believe it when i see it.

Oh dear !
If you are worried then wash the fruit/veg before eating/cooking and watch out for the mercury in fish and the antibiotics in meat !
Maybe you should go home where all the food is expensive 'organic' stuff and you can be assured of 'safety'
Thanks for the tip, but maybe you should read my post again, that's not what asked.
I did read your post !
This is what you asked " It really worries me, does anyone know where to buy safe food?"
What do you classify as "Safe Food" ?
If "SAFE" food cannot be found in Thailand then you should go home where , surely , SAFE' food is easily available !
My home is here in Chiang Mai.

Just came across an alarming article that says that almost half of all tested vegetables and fruits in CM and Bangkok are contaminated with over the limit pesticides.
Even so called organic vegetables that are supposed to be controlled by the government are over the safety limit.
It really worries me, does anyone know where to buy safe food?
Thanks.

If you drink like a (Chinese) girl, maybe. And actually more like triple, and the pesticide residues in the german beers? As long as farang keep paying ridiculous import taxes on non-essential items, the Thais rarely buy. the Excise department isn't even going to consider lowering them.
I agree the import prices on imported beer are ridiculous, but it are not the Farang that I see buying those heavily priced beers, but Thai! Ever been to Nimanheamin recently?
Also other heavily taxed products, like imported cars.... mainly Thai buy them, so it's the Thai that keep import taxes high by buying those products.

Thai laborers should have been united decades ago in Unions.

Funny that they still exist French junkies, thought they where an extinct breed.

I would say it all depends on what kind of school you want for your children, good and cheap education is hard to find.
Rent. 12.000 a month for average house.
Motorbike, 20.000 for a second hand.
Food, 5.000 a week, for foreign food, Thai food much cheaper.

Thailand has about 25.000 deadly traffic casualties every year.
25.000 / 365 = 68.5 average per day.
So seems normal.
-
Yes they are. Drove to the mall a week ago at 9:30 am and then realized it was a weekday and the mall wasn't open until 11am. Wandered into Tops instead to pick up a few items.
\
Weird ain't it?
A Mall that opens at 11 AM, almost half the day is gone and they still have to open.

Please leave your water guns at home, dress decent don't drink, but have fun!

Compared with other international airports I think the prices of food are very reasonable priced in Thailand already.

No speeding, and they already forgot the alcohol and the coke,

Makerspace, google it.

Living here now for a long time already, I still can't figure it out.
In my area in a stretch of 200 meters there are 5 pharmacies, and none of them seem to do well.
Restaurants, Souvenir shops, and even shopping malls popping out of the ground like mushrooms, none of them seem to do well anymore.
In a street where my friend owns a bar/restaurant, this year only, 6 new restaurants opened their doors, nobody makes money.
I know some places do still well, but most have hardly any customers, how do these businesses survive?
I my opinion retailers in CM are of such quantity that it is hardly possible that they can make living.
-
Drove true town yesterday around 9 pm, can't believe how quiet it was, even Niman was very quiet, of course a few places get some customers.
Brought my girlfriend to Goodview village, that was more busy then the all city bars combined in my opinion.
If you like Thai hangouts, with crappy chairs and lousy music there are still a few places for you, but if you are looking for more action, besides just sitting and playing with your smartphone, please let me know where it is.
Zoo in Yellow last night, a few people, but not like before.
Just an observation.
Good news is, with the current closing times, I expect it to be even less in the future.
-
CM night life is dead. Period.
-
Since you guys decided to revived this topic, I'll check for an update?
Any news regarding the situation for the closing time of bars and clubs in CM?
- Warm up?
- Infinity?
- Spicy?
- I saw that Fabrique closed? Did they move location?
- Anything opened after 2am?
Thanks for the info Thaivisa !
Cheers,
Rainville
Most TV members are too old to commend on these clubs, ask them about the situation on Loy Kroh, you might get an answer,
Cheers.

Beer promotions are now prohibited by law, think that's why you don't see them in CM, however in other cities they still exist.

Buy Apple, no service needed, Apple store!

I would check out The Shine on Changklan rd, fairy new building and good location.

You can't go the other way? Meaning a Thai registered car is not allowed into China? How about Laos?
You can go into Laos with a Thai car, you need a car "passport" that can be applied for at Hang Dong where you do driving license renewal etc.
Further the blue car book needs to be in your own name, so no rentals or cars that are bought on credit can enter Laos.
At the Laos side of the border you need to register your car, and it will be stamped in.
You need to buy a Laos insurance there as well.
About entering China, I don't know, never done it, don't think it's possible.

I think if this had happened in Chiang Mai there would have been more than one bridge player who refused to sign a statement in a language she couldn't read. And in Chiang Mai, some Americans would have been arrested which would have increased the profile of this type of event up to the CNN and Amnesty International Level.
I'm sorry, but I don't see the humor in this type of event making the news and I think the various Thai gov't agencies that are encouraging foreigners to retire in Chiang Mai wouldn't have been amused either. It's bad enough to have Chiang Mai Immigration bullying seniors here. It would be an entire another level of bad for the police to be raiding the meetings of a private club to arrest elderly foreign retirees participating in a social event.
This is just so wrong on so many levels.
Don't think so, these people in Pattaya were just scared and would have signed everything, just to leave the police station.
Just like the oldies in CM would do.
CM oldies are not a different breed then Pattaya oldies, although they might have a bit less money..
Last sentence is correct, it is just wrong on so many levels.
