See how it works out in your home country as a foreigner without a proper DL!

It is all politics if the EU decides to ban Thai fishery products, Thailand will be driven even more in to the hands of the Chinese, something the EU is still trying to avoid.
I expect no ban, and business as usual.

Expect to pay about 3 times the price they charge in normal countries..

What i wonder is if that travelers that travel true Bangkok to their next destination are counted as vistors or not?

Seen the Movie in IMAX the sound was not the most disturbing factor, however the the whole movie was very disappointing.

My advice is look at restaurants that are successful, and try to find out why....
Often it's not about the food, but about location, price and atmosphere..
Salad concept, I mean it are just salads, but location is good, it's presented well and people like to be seen there.
Chez Marco, in any other European town just a mediocre French restaurant, but location is good and food not too bad.
Riverside and Goodview, just good locations, food not bad but not good either. And popular with Thais!
All the MooKaTa places, food not nice, but you get a lot for almost no money.
Jee Thong Heng at superhighway, good food, but lousy atmosphere, good parking facilities.
And there are many more successful places, check out why, and make up your mind...

Not on that location...
Try Nimanhaeman, Thinkpark, Maya, etc.

The combined water volume across six reservoirs of Nakhon Ratchasima province has declined to 489 million cubic meters, from a total capacity of 1.059 billion cubic meters.
Looks like the glass is still almost half full.

Question, the dressing on that salad....was it sweet?

Not true, look at the booking sites, still plenty of rooms in high season, even in Chiang Mai for the busy Loy Krathong week still 100"s of hotels have still accommodation.
-
A friend has almost no reservations at her guesthouse for Loi Krathong. She blames this on widely publicized restrictions on the release of lanterns, but I'm sure the restricted nightlife has a lot to do with it as well. Last year, when we still had martial law, was bad for her business, this year is worse.
I don't know if it's a conspiracy against Chiang Mai or just government idiocy, but a lot of businesses are hurting.
If you go on the Agoda booking site, you can see that in the Loy Crating week, 420 hotels have still accommodation... a bad sign... but tourism is up, guess our Chinese vistors are sleeping in the rice fields?
-
Just saw on Agoda, that in Chiang Mai in the Loy Krathong week there is still accommodation available in 420 hotels!!!
Normally the hotels are fully booked in that period.

I also noticed that most bars have blacked out the names on the beer signs out of their bars.
Only on the government billboards we can still see the logo's of the beer companies still being displayed, double standards?

Night flowers of a tree, common this time of year.
Smells like a kind of soap.

Central Festival has an automatic card system now, that does not need people to give you the card.
Instead of that there are 2,3 or 4 people that hand you the automatic given card.
Great system, I will file it under Thainess.

Zoo last night.....
10 pm. a few people there..

11.00 busy!!
12.00 closed...
good luck for all the people trying to run a business there...

I think the red shirt territory comments are right, Chiang Mai is being punished at this moment.

Farang on the photo wearing a police uniform is.......

What I noticed is that the big restaurant / bars among the river stay open until 1 am, while other places in town have to close at midnight, is there a reason for that?
-
Yesterday at Zoo in Yellow complex, dramatic, all bars closed at 12, not that there where much customers anyway, wonder how that can be... seems like the police is really successful killing the night life for young travelers.
If they continue to do this into the high season I wonder how many will ever return to Chiang Mai.

Funny how they removed this article on the Nation and the other new paper does not mention it at all.

Car market to remain depressed in 2016

Indeed hope these numbers are not correct, in a small country as Holland with about 16 mil. people, the average car sales are about 500.000 a year!
