A 49-year-old American man plunged to his death yesterday from the top of a 12-storey apartment building in Bangkok’s Sathorn district.

RDN, do you mean,' no need to talk about (Thai language), just do it,(ie speak it, or on this forum, write it)'?

From his posts Snowleopard seems to like translations, he gets stuck into it, helping all and sundry, he enjoys the activity of using Thai; like all of us there are hiccups now and again but the point is he's immersed, revelling in the practice of it.

1.all that (for singulars)

2.all those (for plurals)

ทั้งนั้น "tang nan"should be placed after the thing/things it refers to.

Depending on the context,ทั้งนั้น "tang nan" can be translated from Thai into English in different ways.

It's placed at the end of the sentence.

Here are some possible translations...

1.all that/all those

2.all of that/all of them

3.anything/everything

4.any of that/any of them

5.all the same

Here are a few examples of how ทั้งนั้น "tang nan" is used...

1.เมื่อวานพวกเขาไปเที่ยวกันทั้งนั้น "meu-a waan poo-ak kaow bpai tee-o gun tang nan"=Yesterday,they all went sightseeing together.

2.เราไม่ซื้ออะไรทั้งนั้น "raow mai seu arai tang nan";or,เราไม่ซื้อทั้งนั้น "raow mai seu tang nan"=We're not buying anything.

3.ถ้าฉันหิวฉันกินได้ทั้งนั้นแหละ "taa chan hio chan kin dai tang nan lae"=If I'm hungry enough,I could eat anything.

Let's look at ทั้งนี้ "tang nee".

It's placed in the front.The translations are words like "all this/all of these/so/as such"

1.ทั้งนี้เพราะเขาโง่ "tang nee pro kaow ngoh"=All this happened because she's silly.

ทั้งนี้ทั้งนั้น "tang nee tang nan" can be translated as "however/nevertheless/in any case"...etc.

this is nothing new, if you study the deaths of tourists going back 20 years the figures are horendous .

no holiday destination has more tourist fatalities than LOS .

Being killed in a 5 star hotel is one thing, but considering her position with the ministry of finance and also to the banks, my guess is she stumbled on something that would blow a cover of some illegal activitiy being done by someone else or to the killer.

Possible or not, and again I could be wrong, but the circumstances at this moment of time indicate this kind of scenario.

Sorry to have read this:- 

The Totsters are currently enjoying the village life.... no plans for the moment.

Re the pictures... If they are still there, they'll be on a smart media card, the video clips are on a Nokia something or other... same as insights phone.

The problem is that I connect the camera direct to the computer using a cable, then using the software with the camera I can upload the pictures to the PC... anyway I didn't realise that the plonker in the local internet shop hadn't earthed his PC's...so now the camera cannot read any memory cards and I cannot extract the pictures... the worrying part is though if the static charge got to the memory card I think the pics will be gone...

I am not particularly worried about a mia noi snowleopard. My husband isn't the type to cheat. His father has never cheated on his mother, and as he has gotten most of his values from his parents I feel confident that he is just as decent, honest and faithful as he has seemed these past 16 years.  . Nice try tho.

As for other married women, well, at least where I live, times are changing and many of the younger women strenuously object to a mia noi. Like, with a frying pan. 

There was one girl who made a play for my husband shortly after we got married. I guess the thinking was, "well, can't really be married to a farang can he? He's not poor so there is no need to marry her. Must just be a fling". A few well chosen evil glances and very cold shoulders quickly gave her the message. He thought she was being friendly! And, funnily enough, after all these years, she's still afraid of me

What competition? I am hardly interested in other men as I have one of my own. I find that the women I know are less competitive than the men I know, and besides, almost all of the Thai women I know are married so what's there to compete about?

Cheers everyone... 

Well yes, I finally did it....

It was without doubt the happiest and strangest day I have ever had.  Try to imagine walking through the village with about 20 people all dancing around banging drums, singing at the tops of their voices, drinking lots of lao kao (at ten in the morning, I have heard they started way before I even got there), I didn't have a clue what they were saying to me, I didn't even know what was going on, I was pulled here, pushed there, stroked, kissed, touched ( women with no teeth  ), then into the house for some more grabbing, chanting, lighting candles, string around wrists, chanting, grabing touching, screaming, singing... I think you get the picture,  but the whole thing was a most extraordinary experience which I will cherish forever.  

Regarding pictures... I did have some taken, but there has been a problem with the camera (digital) and I'm not sure whether the pictures have been erased or not The guy in the local shop couldn't really help me much, so I will have to wait until I'm in BKK next. I really hope I haven't lost them.  On a more positive side though, I do have some short video clips made on a mobile phone.

If anyone is knowledgeable about digital cameras and memory cards maybe you could offer some advice.

Anyway thanks again everyone, I will pass on your congrats to my WIFE

Here's some homework in Thai which your beloved wife could help you with when things have calmed down.

I would say that ยกให้ "yok hai" is more correct for "cede"!

For "supercede/supersede",I would choose either เข้าแทนที่ "kaow taen tee";or,แย่งตำแหน่ง "yaeng dtum-naeng"!
