  1. I like and dislike it. I like it because people are very friendly to my face. I do not like it because behind my back they make up stories about the farang and gossip a lot.

If they are talking about you behind your back, how do you know about it?

I too live in a small village. IMHO, people who gossip are small minded (yes I know there are a lot of them) and not worth fretting over. Its the warm smiles and small, friendly gestures of kindness that I focus on. Over time, after you have earned their respect and the "farang novelty" has worn off, most of the gossiping will go away; most but certainly not all. Some people's minds are just too small.

Or you could learn to speak Thai and turn around and catch them in the act!

  2. The people who drew up the American constitution were wise as well as brave. Nothing is perfect but despite erosion Americans still enjoy more freedoms than most others. They recognized the need for the people to have rights that would prevent central government slowly changing things to get total control.

Maybe that's why Americans have given so much to the world in the fields of science, the arts, sports, and been one of, if not the most innovative country over the last century or so.

How can you write such a story like americans are almost holy.

American democracy sucks. You only need 26 % of the votes to becoming president. Is that democracy.

Spying on Americans and all over the world.

You need a simple majority in the Electoral College to become President of the U.S. If no candidate obtains that majority, it is up to the House of Representatives to decide.

And what exactly do you mean by "almost"?

If you win 51% of the votes in one state you get all the votes from the voting man of that state. So if you say <deleted> you to 49% of the states and win the others with a 51% majority. You only have 25.5% of all votes and still have 51% of the voting man. Enough to become the next president.

Ach if you think americans are holy, so be it. Have met many Americans around the world who claimed to be Canadian because they where embarrassed by their country.

I never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

The first time you transfer funds to a specific account, part of the "set up" procedure is to send an SMS to the phone number you have associated with your Bangkok Bank account.  Once you receive the SMS, you input the code on Bangkok Bank's website to complete the set up process.  After that, there is no need for an SMS to transfer funds.

I have completed the set up process before I left Bangkok.

You mean I can proceed to transfer without having to wait for a OTP each time I make a transfer ?

To the best of my knowledge, there is no OTP after set up but I suggest you contact Bangkok Bank to confirm.

Would you allow your child to learn German from a native speaking German with no college education who was in your country surreptitiously?

Sure, why not? You don't need a college education to speak German. How will a degree in engineering or IT make him teach German better?

I've worked with plenty of people with degrees who could not teach water to fall, let alone a disinterested Thai teen how to speak English.

So you would allow someone who chose not to get an education to educate your child?  Teachers do more than teach; they act as role models for highly impressionable young ones.

He added that he felt sorry for people who would lose their businesses but the authorities must do everything right, and Thai society must change from now – “No more ‘Mai Pen Rai’ or being too flexible about everything.

    brilliant

ive been saying this exact thing for years , especially when it comes to the construction business, and many peoples shoddy/non existent  workmanship

Brilliant my ass - nothing left at Surin beach now - not a single facility.

In my opinion this has gone a bit to far.

I've got news for you my friend; this is just the beginning.
