  1. The basic version always was valid 6 months, I guess that is still the case. So the maximum 180 day visit is nearly impossible to achieve as both arrival and departure need to be within the visa validity. But they can enter at any time up to the expiry date, of course only for an increasingly shorter visit. Of course 2, 5 and 10 year versions are also available.
  2. Anyway, assuming all the above is correct, when you enter on 04 October you will be stamped in for 90 days. This period could be extended 60 days (to visit wife, you'd need her along with you) at immigration towards the end of the period. And there is nothing to stop you returning to Savannakhet (aka "SAV" apparently) for another visa when needed. Nothing confusing I don't think.
  3. Work inside just fine (without 0044 of course). edit: just tried with and still works just as well.
  4. Goes quiet for a few seconds after pressing 1 for English, then into the queue and various recorded messages (I am also calling from the UK on a mobile).
  5. Just tried that number and selected "English" and went into a queue. No other options were given so seemed to work fine up to that point.
  6. The message is/was broadcast by the cell mast you are connected to, it is not sent to all SIM's.
  7. I have a Kasikorn account with a card that expired in 2020. I have not been charged for a card since then. This is of course no guarantee that you would receive the same treatment.
  8. You could try the 7 day trick - see this thread (if you can put up with the bickering);
  9. Correct. But there is nothing to stop somebody getting a new passport while out of the country before the expiry date of the old one.
  10. Don't think so, the alert is supposed to be specific to the broadcasting mast, rather unlikely that those in Thailand will be alerting.
  11. And that's even by our wives.
  12. At least 2 months prior to filing date, and at least 3 months after being granted permission, the alien must have fund deposited in a bank in Thailand of no less than THB 800,000. The alien can withdraw the fund 3 months after being granted permission and the remaining balance must be no less than THB 400,000
  13. Presumably you also don't have online banking and the phone number attached to the account is also out of action? I reckon a flight to the now unfrozen Thailand is needed, don't forget the bank book.
  14. I am one of those arguing that it is the case. In the document I linked earlier is stated the following, clearly the electronic cancellation happens a lot earlier (i.e. on application) than the physical cancellation. "When we authorise a renewal or replacement of an old passport, the passport issuing system automatically updates the old passport record on Main Index (MI). The system will cancel an old passport record, when the: • old passport number has been correctly captured in the previous passport field on the Application Management System (AMS) which only happens, if: o one passport number is in in the previous passport number section o the passport application is not for an additional passport o the cancel passport box is ticked on AMS • details can be traced on MI, the customer’s details match and the Document Management Service (DMS) have processed the renewal or replacement application"
  15. Start here (the first of 8000 results to a search for "aseannow.com TM30".
  16. On the positive side at least you won't end up with a fridge full of things you would never really want to eat and heaps of that awful cheap lager people used to ram into their cars.
  17. Amazing. Where do they get their weapons, it's not as if you can just buy these things on the street.......
  18. I have read previously (somewhere on GOV.UK) that it is definitely cancelled in the HMPO system as soon as the application is received in the UK, which makes sense as 99% of applications have the expiring passport attached to them. However, as their database is not shared automatically with anybody only they know this and therefore the only place where it ought to be flagged up in on arrival in the UK. See here;https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/cancellation-of-passports
  19. Based on what has been written here I would think yes, but with ever reducing level of enforcement. It would of course not be hard to take a test before going, if you wanted to be on the safe side.
  20. UK Government advice for Lao says; "The official policy remains that unvaccinated individuals will be required to take an ATK test a maximum of 48 hours before departure. There are reports of this not being enforced. However, customs and immigration officials retain the authority to ask you to produce a pre-departure test."
  21. "Can anyone tell me if this is true please." She already did, you don't believe her? No wonder she left you.
