there is no "faith" involved in atheism.

the theist claims there are gods, without proof, and believes on faith.

the atheist reserves judgement, says "i don't know," but give me sufficient evidence and i, too shall believe, but not on faith.

if you say "I don't know" then you are agnostic

  2. At this moment the leading astrophysicists of our times such as Lawrence Krauss (which are nearly all atheists) confess that we understand at maximum 5% of what happens in our universe (before I thought it was 25%)
I would not trust the diagnostic made by my any doctor if he could understand only 5% of my body....would you?
However there is also the opinion of Prof Michio Kaku :  replying to the question if he believed in God he once said : "the order in our universe is so stunning that there must be a Creator behind it...otherwise you have to believe it is possible that if a large heap of metal scrap is hit by a lightning ...it can produce a Boeing 747"
This means simply that humans still know virtually nothing about our universe despite the absolutely enormous  increase of data the last 50 years.
Atheism is an alternative form of faith because they too are more "believers" than most of them want to admit.
My conclusion : I follow the teachings of the great university professor George Lemaitre (also a Catholic priest) who is the father of the Big Bang theory ...He said science replies to the question "how" and religion replies to the question "why"

  3. Everybody has to make his own priorities but a very important factor in choosing the location of my actual residence is the fact that I am at 10 to 15 minutes drive from Thammasat Hospital in Pathum Thani without risk for traffic jams in case of an emergency.

It is really distressing to see how ambulances have to "fight" their way to the city center on the both express ways going coming from the North.

I used the Statement of my pension instead of the Affidavit of the Belgian embassy again this year.
Only, this year I did not bring an Affidavit with me.
Statement of pension accepted again without further demands.
Translation costs was this year only 300 baht as most of the text was similar as last year.

It saves a lot of time to get an affidavit legalised by the Embassy then translated and legalised at the Foreign Ministry. Two months ago I tried the same like you but Immigration Officer in Pathum Thani insisted that I would get also an affidavit legalised next to my detailed bank letter of my monthly transfers /  it really depends on the Immigration office.

The Belgian legalisation stamp explains clearly that this is only a certification of my signature and not of my (income) declaration but it is written only in our national languages i.e. Dutch, French and German

In which province is your Immigration Office?

read what you are writing, 'co owners', 'freeloaders', 'bring them to court', 'control'.  This is where you live for goodness sake.  I have none of those people or those  issues in a house.

may-be you do not know what GESTAPO really means  : I bought an apartment in this condominium in 1992 and because lack of funds ....it looks now as some residential buildings in much less developed countries than Thailand

you have no right to all parts of the structure that supports where you live?  Seems very odd to me. Noisy neighbour upstairs that you can't contact?  Just one example where upper floor access may be needed. I guess you call the building security people, another minus in my book. Can't be arsed to think of any more, but there must be lots.  Not for me I am afraid.

if you have noisy neighbour upstairs you can still walk one floor using the staircase...but better inform Juristic Person Manager of Building Manager because in this country many have guns

Gestapo tactics in condos, living by dictate and rules set by others, committee living that just makes living difficult, nothing new in this.  And on top of all that, many of them are like rabbit hutches, or prison cells. Condos are in my view, a horrible way to live.  Give me a house any day.

My goodness : you do not know what you write about :  in our condo only 1/3 of the co-owners pay regularly common fees and this electronic elevator control is a way to force the freeloaders to pay or to use the staircase (there is not enough money to pay a lawyer to bring them all to court if they have more than 6 months delay - some have years of delay)

  8. I am only trying to find out if other TVF members have similar experience as me.

About six months ago I did my yearly general check up (with blood analysis) at a leading university hospital

I am more than 70 years old

In the blood analysis there was a serious red mark for LDL and so went to consult a cardiologist.

But only now - reading the lab report - I notice that I have also a red mark about my kidneys

    See attachment

Reading a lot on the internet I learn that for Creatinine GFR  I should not have less than 60 mL/ min/1.73 m2  but I have 76.05 : why should I have a red mark?

I returned to the university hospital where the admin staff told me that only nephrologist can reply me....my goodness.

In my home country the family GP could easily reply to this but in Bangkok a GP does not seem to exist.

If any TVF member had a number similar to 76 I would be happy to learn what he or she has done.

  9. In our Condo we have the situation that because of negligent Juristic Person Manager(s) some co-owners did not pay any debts (common fee, penalties, special funds) during many years, some more than 10 years.

When summoned in court by a new and active Juristic Person Manager those scoundrels use a lawyer and always see their debts reduced to the last 5 years based on the Thai Law on debt collection dd 3 May 2558 (2015)

Many people fail to understand that Thai people are learning English as a second language and NOT first language.

It's perfectly normal not to speak perfect English as long as people can understand them.

I've known many foreigners who still can't speak perfect Thai after many years of studying Thai.

I agree...but I wrote before in this Forum that in my country a teacher of Dutch language needs a degree to do so...otherwise any Dutch speaking person - even with low IQ - can qualify as a teacher....I speak several languages and all of them with some mistakes but I do not try to get a job as a language teacher.

They should bite the bullet and appoint a non Thai as CEO. I'd suggest they approach the Japanese guy who turned JAL around, he worked miracles there.

I remember the good old days when TG provided world-class service with management and technical support from SAS from 1960 till 1977.  I wonder if TG could sink so deep if SAS would have continued the management cooperation (= transparent accounting)

  12. Here is a photo taken yesterday in Pathum Thani of burning fields at the border with Bangkok (Bangkadi district)

Every year we have to face several days and many hours of this kind of thick smoke

Call the fire brigade ?  They are at walking distance...

At the moment the photo was taken we had also a power cut ....so we could not even open our windows.

Nothing to do in those experimental settings.

Did you try chrome settings, site permissions, media autoplay and set it to limit?

Chrome has a large extension library, try browse and install some dedicated extensions to deal with your problem.

I am on a desktop PC with Windows 10 and and I do not have "media autoplay" / what you write seems to apply only to Android smartphones

  14. When trying to read Thai Visa Forum on my desktop PC I am flooded with so many pop up videos that it becomes very irritating.

    I use Google Chrome

According to internet sources I should type ‘chrome://flags/#autoplay-policy’ in the address bar and hit enter.

However I do not get the option "Document user activation is required" as shown hereafter ....I only get a new page called "Experiments" with so many options I have no clue what they do or cannot do. What should I do ?
