from personal experience the (home made) curries are excellent and great value. Even the 'vindaloo', should Mobi choose to serve that too, is not butt burning but highly flavoursome
-
dammit Mobi ---- while world Cup is on I religiously avoid looking anywhere that may show soccer results and i watch the matches during the day. I also find time every day to read your thread!
Just rushed back from shopping to watch England game only to find you say they lost !! Buggeration!!

Last year the BPH eye centre had a promotion - both checks for about B4K. Even then I thought a tad high. This year, no 'specials' and they are back to B6K+.
Do you have personal experience of good eye testing elsewhere around Pattaya for these checks at a more reasonable price?
This is NOT a BPH attack as I have high regard for the services (used a lot unfortunately) and normally no real issues with their costs.
Thanks

'it depends on how busy Makro is' she says but they aim to open about 0830 and always before 0900
-
just passing so spoke to the lady chef and she said the current plan is to close on Sundays

the owner (from Normandy) is Alan and son is Nicholas and yes seemingly good guys creating a friendly ambience. Alan's wife is the chef! Other friends have also now tried and praised the beef bourgignon. House wine very acceptable and a largish carafe at B400 (glass at B70) goes down well Bistro 89 is on my doorstep too, as is Aroi.. lucky us
-
Do let us know if you also enjoyed the country pate and home made bread Great snack with 2 slabs at B90.
-
for the 2 'pat' posters above the name is Bistro 89
-
yes ................... 'nuff said !
They do a fair b'fast too at B130 with good coffee
The Belgian Aroi is good
-
been told that daily passes will be about B1400 per person (kids as well) with yearly pass at about B30,000 per person. Confirmation anyone?

Opened yesterday in Soi 89. Going south on Suk Soi 89 is 400m on left (darkside) past Makro. Bistro is about 300m over railway line on the right. Last night i tried excellent home made rough pate (2 portions !) and home made individual quiche Lorraine. Other basic french dishes looked good. My wife said the thai food was very tasty. Prices very reasonable

The Ban Saray water park reports soft opening late July. Could be! . The Silverlake one is basically still a figment of someone's imagination despite what their website says

we have now accumulated dozens and dozens and dozens of various shapes and sizes and a shame to just throw them away. Good for home made preserves? Nails/screws storage? Paint pots for school kids? What to do? Any ideas?
PM me if you want them/any. Thks

Episode 4 & final episode
Outstanding 2 units delivered, assembled, accepted and are just fine. As I said, nice staff and good prices so i hope they get these other frustrating issues sorted quickly.

Storage cabinets from Ban Amphur store - Episode 3
We are told new units will be delivered today, Friday. evening, They duly arrive both ready assembled. From their condition they are both clearly display models.
The larger unit has a damaged base and a damaged side panel. The middle unit is not the middle size unit with shelves but another large unit (hanging rail and no shelving) ............. with a damaged base unit !
Both rejected by us
Phone calls. They will get factory to deliver new units to us direct (about 1 week) but they will take no responsibilty for condition. Idea rejected of course ! Phone calls. Ok they will take responsibility.
Episode 4 in due course
Time will tell.

forgot to add (1) that these products are made in Thailand (2) my car's fuel is B5/km so running back & forth for a 3rd or 4th time aint cheap! Back & forth to that huge store on 36 would be very expensive.

Ref my post yesterday about excessive waiting times in Ban Amphur store for the 3 different sized, good value, self assembly storage cabinets.
This morning we started the unpacking with assembly in mind.
Smallest unit OK and quite easily assembled surprisingly.
Medium size unit is missing the floor panel, 2 x supporting floor panels, the top flat unit; and the 3 shelves.
The third and largest unit has one broken glass door, and is also missing the floor panel, 2 x supporting floor panels, top flat unit, the 3 shelves and all the shelf supports.
And the store has only been opened for a few days.
Several phone calls made immediately in Thai by mid morning and waiting now at 2.15 pm to receive the action plan from the Manager.
As I said before, time will tell.

not much to ad except I recommend that in these early days with teething-trouble you wait until they sort certain things out (like the warehouse) and only buy what you can see, touch and personally carry to checkout.
I saw & wanted 3 different sized, good value, self assembly storage cabinets. They had 2 of each in stock the system said. I waited 55 minutes for them to find only one of my choice which I then bought. As a retiree with patience and no appointments that was just about OK ! They called as promised within the hour and had found the other two items. I returned and waited a further 30 minutes for them to re-find them
Nice staff, huge store and choices but they've only been open for a few days ! Time will tell.

just returned from a convivial 4 hour evening with cold towels, popcorn, F1, EPL, hot dog and 5 sensible conversations with 5 different customers. I will go back even with a 20km round trip. A pleasant change

I recall to my cost and aggravation that if vehicles were parked "illegally" in UK then a large-very-difficult-to-remove-sticker was stuck on my front windscreen (driver's side) and also driver's side window with a suitable message . I only had it happen to me once but never parked there again !!

Proper Rain Coat, where to buy? who sells?
in Pattaya
Posted
2 questions.
1. What weight? Will it be too hot for Thailand?
2. I only saw S or M sizes.
Can you keep us posted please?
Very useful post - thanks
