  1. So whatever happened to the idea to open the 90 day visa on arrival to many other countries? Do you want to encourage people to stay longer, spend more $ on hotels, restaurants, transport etc or not? Getting ready to spend two weeks in viet nam all just to be able to get a new visa...otherwise I would spend that two weeks and that $$ in Thailand. I figure if i have to go to the hassle and expense of flying to saigon etc i may as well spend a couple of weeks in viet nam. So that is money the local hotel, restaurants etc in Thailand will not be receiving thanks to the tourism "gurus". Multiply that $$ by however many thousands are forced to play the "leave the country" to get new visa game and next thing you know it is some serious lost revenue. Grow a brain.
  2. I have and continue to use baht buses around pattaya. Yes there may be a handful that get into conflicts but in my experience the vast majority of them provide a very good service at a bargain price with no dramas at all. It could not be more simple or convenient on the main routes...get in and when it gets close to your destination ring the buzzer, hand the driver 10 baht and walk away. The ones that try to ask to be taken to specific destinations not on the route are generally the ones that get "taken" because they don't seem to grasp that most all of them are on a fixed route. Try and imagine what pattaya would be like without the baht buses .....would everyone prefer giant buses roaring around and a few hundred more car taxis, more traffic jams, ,more parking woes? Or how about a nice big concrete system skytrain blocking views all along beach road? Baht buses are the perfect transportation system for pattaya. It is truly amazing what a good service is provided for 10 baht.
  3. Has anyone done this. As I understand i make a res online and then go in person and it takes couple of days. When i try to make online appointment it wants my Thai ID number which i don't have one so it won't let me make a reservation? How do i get around that as i don't want to just show up at the embassy with no reservation. I hope to apply on a Monday morning and be done with it all by Wednesday afternoon. Do i fill out all the forms at the saigon thai embassy or do that online before i go? US citz and just want a single entry tourist visa. I am in Thailand now on a 60 day tourist visa i got online before....now i want to get another 60 day tourist visa and understand i must leave thailand and get it at an embassy and saigon would work well for me. instructions online not very clear so if anyone can help with questions thanks.
  4. Maybe someone can open a whine bar on bangkok sukhumvit as well as pattaya for all the people who just love to WHINE about any and all who don't meet their high standards. It would obviously do a booming biz with a lot of people on this forum.
  5. I once asked the resident "hello" ladyboy in a bar what she/he did if she got back to room with a big guy that did not know what he had picked up. She said happens a lot as most of them drunk. I said don't u worry that they will beat you up when they figure out what's down below. She/He said oh what she does is tell guy very very bad lady time and cannot go down there but she will give best BJ ever and blow load in mouth ....to which most guys said oh ok.....and most never the wiser as to the fling they just had with a guy...in fact i would bet most of them did a lot of bragging the next day about the best ever BJ....
  6. And how much bigger is the average farang than the average Thai? I guess if you planned to fight an NFL sized guy you also might hope a few of your friends would help you out. Best idea is avoid getting into any fights ever in Thailand (or anywhere else as well). In USA the size advantage is very often overcome by smaller guy pulling out a gun. Fortunately so far at least that seems fairly rare in Thailand though baseball bats and machetes do come into play.
  7. If you see something that looks like a star And it's shooting up out of the ground And your head is spinning from a loud guitar And you just can't escape from the sound Don't worry too much, it'll happen to you We were children once, playing with toys And that thing that you're hearing is only the sound of The low spark of high-heeled boys
  8. Travel Biz: Loved most every day. Traveled the world, fly for free, free hotels, free car rentals, free cruises, free upgrades. Dream merchant as I sold a product that most customers really wanted and enjoyed. $$ so so but got to live like a millionaire thanks to the perks. And then came the airline commission cuts and the internet and party mostly over. It was a good run though.
  9. Hop on the bus, Gus You don't need to discuss much Just drop off the key, Lee And get yourself free
  10. The good thing is that there are many choices for booking hotels....but no matter which one you choose if you fail to carefully read the terms and conditions before you hit the button you may well end up with a non refundable room or some other "surprise".... I have personally found agoda to consistently have the best prices particularly in Asia. I never book an Agoda room unless at the bottom it says PAY NOTHING TODAY and carefully read what the payment terms are stated. Never had a problem. Never had a surprise. Up to you.
  11. Something here does not add up. Which hotel?
  12. booking.com owns agoda and they share hotel inventory
  13. I have used agoda for many years and have booked dozens of hotels via them. Never had a hint of a problem and always found their prices and payment/cancellation policies clearly stated and most often cheapest of various sites. I have had friends complain when they DID NOT READ the terms and then got hit with a cancellation fee because they booked a non refundable room.....and then of course they scream they got ripped off.
  14. Like the new myth beer bars that have a horrible band that cranks up at around 9 pm til 2 am or later and is so loud in rattles the windows in nearby condos and hotels keeping people awake night after night? Now they want to extend til 4 am? Just great.
  15. Certainly not defending the tuk tuk a holes but geez get the crap beat out of you over 100 baht fare difference at 6 in the morning? Some of course will say "it's the principle" not to agree to more of a fare...but from the story it appears they did take him where he wanted to go for the agreed 200 baht fare....and then he is at wrong place and wants to go to a different location....did he not negotiate the second leg of the trip or did he think these nice tuk tuk guys would just drive him there for free? If he did not and then they wanted 400 and he offered 300 that means he got beat up over 100 baht? Not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Getting into violent arguments with tuk tuk drivers is very very rarely going to end well yet people continue to do it day after day. Especially in phuket that has likely the worst tuk tuk mafia in all Thailand.
  16. merely highlighting the batshxt crazy stuff that gets thrown around by trumpers every day....glad you agree they are not sane.
  17. just what the usa needs...another bat shxt crazy guy full of BS conspiracy theories...i suspect he might appeal more to the right wing conspiracy theory bunch who likely think JFK and Elvis are living at mar a lago with the dear leader.
  18. Go for a walk in soi bukhao area and you will find several hotels offering monthly rates assuming you are not arriving mid december peak season.
  19. Clear facts like she is a Chicago native mean nothing to Trumpers when it comes to anyone not named Trump. The wildest craziest made up BS is what they thrive on in their little fantasy world where dear leader is perfect and piles of evidence a mile high mean nothing.
  20. If Michelle Obama ran for POTUS she would win. Republicans would of course try to claim she was born in Africa or was a lady boy......same ole conspiracy theory crap that brain dead people believe.
  21. Everyone has a different definition of comfortable life but for most 60 k baht a month is plenty to rent a pleasant condo in a big relatively new complex, eat three good meals a day unless you insist on all farang imported type foods, have a few beers a night and cover all the basics like phone baht buses occasional basic massages etc.....the big issue for OP is likely health insurance and visa and how he wants to deal with that. Not being a part of P4P will save you a LOT of $$ and contrary to what a lot seem to think not every guy necessarily wants or needs that for a variety of reasons.
