We called the ones that went all the way up to 78 "slate bashers" due to the fragility you mentioned.

Who’s buying russian fossil fuels?
The tanker full of crude I ordered is being airlifted to Nong Han lake as I write. It should tide me over until they put that natural gas pipeline in. At last I'll be able to run a real burner for the wok in the outside kitchen.

Now Skype is dead, what are people using to call Thai landlines
I would use Rebtel. The calls are dirt cheap to mobile or fixed line numbers.

Thailand Tightens Mobile Banking to Curb Scams
If you pass the test you are senile? What I find alarming is they can put someone in the class "fraudster". Is this on a whim, or must one first be at least legally accused of fraud?

For Putin, an outbreak of peace means certain death.
This is also said about Zelenskyy, at the hands of the Azov Brigade, who are a component of the Nazis Russia wish to remove as part of the de-Nazification of Ukraine. This is one of the objectives of the SMO.

I saw it too. The Magnitsky Act must have done a lot of damage to US/ Russia relations, perhaps ultimately fuelling some of the rabid, illogical anti-Putin (because Russia is Putin /sarc) comments on AN.

For Putin, an outbreak of peace means certain death.
Browder successfully lobbied for the enactment of the Magnitsky Act: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnitsky_Act It prompted the production of The Magnitsky Act - Behind The Scenes (2016). One of the interesting points to note is the film maker initially set out to make a documentary that was sympathetic to Browder and his view of things. Along the way, Andrei Nekrasov reversed his position due to lies by Browder and so the documentary took a different turn. https://magnitskyact.com/

They will outlaw saying such things soon. Obvious incitement to violence = terrorism /sarc

Germany wants to be Europe’s military power.
Just what I was thinking. They have a successful track record wrt military build-ups, so I'm optimistic. The EU's planned raid of idle cash in bank accounts will fund it too.

I'll go with that explanation. I can always work out the rate and the charges whenever I do a foreign currency payment. USually not separate line items, but the info is buried in the transaction notes.

Thanks for the list - I will make a comparison soon. For me it is important to minimise the charges I pay. I am allergic to currency conversion fees.

Speculation yes. Scaremongering? I don't see it like that. A way to try to explain why a banking system upgrade broke things for some banks but not others. Usually upgrades do not do this, but nobody on this thread has posted any details of what actually broke. The OP did not suggest xenophobia as a motive. I got the impression the OP was suggesting a change in business practices to boost revenue for Thai banks' foreign exchange businesses. This alternative explanation is also just as speculative. Choose the one you prefer (or both). Either way, it may be time to look for a Wise alternative just in case. I personally reviewed my most recent conversions and transfers of THB to Thailand and the charges as a percentage are much higher: 1.5% versus 0.6%.

Do you have any evidence for this, or is it only speculation?

Wise charge a percentage of the amount that is to be transferred. Around 0.2% if memory servers.
