I think the first thing you need to is get your passport from them. Unless they have already gotten you extension done you are on a overstay now that will cost 500 baht a day. You only choice may be to leave and re-enter the country after you get your passport back. -
You can apply for the 60 day extension if you have not gotten one since your last entry with a visa.

The regulation for TM30 reporting does not mention any amount of time. If you enter with a re-entry permit for a extension of stay or a multiple entry visa a TM30 is not required after entering the country. It is only needed if you enter with a new visa.

What category of visa did you apply for. Do you non-o visa or a OA visa issued by a a embassy or consulate. If you actually applied for a one year extension of stay based upon retirement issued by immigration. That can only be changed to a different reason for a extension when it near to the day it expires. You can get a work permit and work with a non-o visa or extension of stay based upon marriage to a Thai.

Probably confusion with the 6 months of passport validity to apply for certain visas.

That info is not correct. There is no 6 months rule for those from most countries. The only rule is that it must be valid for your length of stay for those from most countries.

Only 2 visa exempt entries are allowed per calendar year. No problem to do the allowed 2 of them. -

There is no 45 day visa on arrival. It only for 15 days until October 1st when it will go up to 30 days and it only for those from a few countries. The 45 days is a visa exempt entry that can be extended for 30 days.

That will not work. Immigration can check their database and do a search using your name to find you previous history and link your new passport to it.

I am certain they would not deny it to somebody that had a short overstay before. Maybe if it was a recent long one such as 30 days for example.

No They will look at your history of entries where you stayed on a visa exempt entry for the entire allowed stay plus a extension and then left to get a another entry. They don't have a fixed rule since some people make frequent short trips for a short stay in the country. There are people that use them for business reasons or working outside the country and return for their breaks from work.

That means if you are on a overstay you cannot apply for the visa. You have to read the entire 3 lines where that is written.

Immigration is not asking for the TM6 when applying for a extension if you entered the country after they stopped doing them.

There is no written rule that limits visa exempt entries by air. Doing them back to back to stay here could result in greater scrutiny when entering the country. They could ask for a ticket out of the country within the 30 or 45 days allowed for entry and 20k baht or its equivalent in cash.

Why would you need to go home? There are embassies and consulates in nearby countries. Visa exempt entries are limited to 2 per calendar year at land border crossings. There is no limit by air.

It is not really that hard to do. The most difficult part is getting your marriage certificate legalized in your home country or at your embassy if they can do it.

I know that since it affected me in 2019. My extension was due to late (more than 6 months) to try and use a income Affidavit issued in December of 2018, But luckily I had been transferring my income into my bank for several years and could apply for my extension by showing the transfers.

In 2015 I would assume you used a letter from your embassy to prove you income to apply for the extension. In December of 2018 immigration issued a order allowing the income option to proven by transfer in a Thai bank for 12 months. It was done since at least 3 embassies (UK, USA and Australia) stopped issuing a proof of income document. If can still get that proof from your embassy you can still use it.

It appears you got a 30 day visa exempt entry. A tourist visa allows a 60 day stay. You can apply for a 30 day extension at immigration in Patong.
