Retirement - visa options
ubonjoe replied to MistyBlue's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
That is only in the case where applied for a one year extension using the 800k baht in the bank option before you apply using the income option. If you got a new non-o visa you would not need to prove the 800k/400k baht had remained in the bank when you apply using in income option. -
A one day overstay is really nothing to worry about. You will not be fined 500 baht for a one day overstay when leaving the country at the airport.

That would work. Just be sure you have proof the 65k income or more came from abroad. -
Yes you can use the same witness.

Introduction to Thai Immigration
ubonjoe replied to chinajohn69's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
The same situation has been discussed multiple times on this forum. It a fixed and solid requirement the same passport must be used for leaving the country that was used for entry. It does not matter if the person is a Thai or not. If a new passport is obtained while in the country both passport of the same nationality must be used. -
Easiest route back into Thailand from Laos
ubonjoe replied to onebaht's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You could do the crossing at Chiang Khong. You could do it and then turn around and return on the same day. You could stay in Laos for the night but not sure what accommodation on the Lao side are available. -
retiring soon. What visa suits best?
ubonjoe replied to AustinRacing's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
If you can prove your income here it can be used to apply for the extension with proof of tax payments and a copy of your tax return done this year. No need for anything from your embassy. You can have a work permit and work with a extension based upon marriage. -

If married to a Thai an extension based upon marriage would be the the best choice since the financial requirements are lower. What is the source for you month income. For a extension based upon marriage to a Thai it is 40k baht. If your embassy still issue proof of income you could use that to do the application. -
To do transfers to the Bangkok Bank in New York you would need a special direct deposit account. Another way is to do a foreign remittance via New York but it your bank has to send them a cashiers check. See: https://www.bangkokbank.com/en/Personal/Other-Services/Transfers/Transferring-Into-Thailand/Foreign-Remittance Many people suggest using Wise for the transfers.

You need the 800k baht in the bank on the day you apply for the non-o visa. You will need at least 15 days remaining on the 30 day extension you have now to apply. Requirments are here: https://www.immigration.go.th/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/9.FOR-RETIREMENT-PURPOSES-50-YEARS-OLD-NON-O.pdf The non-o visa will allow a 90 days in the country. You can apply for the one year extension during the last 30 days of the 90 days and the 800k baht will need to be the bank for 2 months. You can only apply for one 30 day extension per entry to the cuntry.

Introduction to Thai Immigration
ubonjoe replied to chinajohn69's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Only if they got a border pass to enter some of them that allows a short stay. A case where a Thai could leave another country without a valid Thai passport would be they had a passport for the other country (dual nationalities). -

She checked for a international flight Suvarnabhumi not a domestic flight. The had the problem at departure immigration. -
You only need to sign copies of the documents. No need to to include the originals with you application. Just have them with you incase a officer wants to see them.

COVID rules on entry.
ubonjoe replied to Scoobydoo1's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I have not seen anything about a quarantine anywhere now other than if you get covid 19, test positive and go into self quarantine at home.
