The health minister changed the rules the week before Christmas ! What do they expect now, nearly everyone got scared of loosing all their bookings, PCR tests / flights/hotels/ etc and cancelled.
Thailand is constantly changing the rules, they have absolutely no idea that foreigners have to plan holidays, take time off work, book flights etc, and then the country they wanted to visit announces panic every bloody day, and cancels potential plans. Mr Anutin has shot himself in the foot !
We have all seen the small percentage of foreign travelers C positive on arrival. Do a second and third test at the tourists expense in a *hospitel * not in a state quarantine ward. They are now reducing the stay in EU to 7 days isolation., The only big worry for everyone is an overload of patients for hospital  beds and not enough ventilators.  The statistics this morning from Marseille France General, huge hospital, has 86% of its newer Covid patients non vaccinated , average age 57, the others are the very old and the very sick. 81 deaths since 15 of November.
What does that tell you. Children are the best vectors, spreading in school and then through their families, so they are now being mass vaccinated. The new Omicron is quickly being accepted as being much less dangerous and does, in most cases, not need hospitalisations. The two biggest errors of Thailand is not vaccinated early enough, you should by now all have had your booster. The other is panic news and closing down the country bringing its folk to their knees. How shameful to see photos and reports all over the western news of queues of people spending all day in the sun waiting for food donations. And all that while in other news they want to start a Space program ? They better get their act together as otherwise they will see their tourist dollars going down the drain for a good couple of years.

Many were vaccinated...Sinovac!  Remember that diluted water.

The banking systems in your countries seem a bit outdated.

Quite the opposite, many banks would like to know when you are abroad and where to prevent online fraud etc, it does not stop you using your card abroad, just they are aware of this fact, alternatively you can set your Bank account to send a message to approve / confirm transactions before completion.

Bloody Hell - that was quick. Thank you for that. Looks like one has to wait until 6 months are up before getting the booster so 3 more months to go!

But I think that is an American site? Correct? I'm in Thailand, Bangkok. Sorry, perhaps my throw away comment about emigrating to the US confused things.

The 3 months is What the UK Government were saying, the Thai Government say very little that is not subject to change 3 or 4 hours after they say it.

In the UK for the Pfizer 3rd shot it is 6 months, (or it was up to last month).

They do not at all advocate mixing type of vaccines.

    I hope you are successful.

As well as that, the agenda driven BBC, now widely ridiculed and disbelieved where once it was widely admired, makes a sensation of anything and fails to add context - does anyone seriously believe that if almost anywhere did the volume of testing and sequencing that the western and northern European countries did, then they wouldn't find variants and high/increasing rates?

One thing is for sure, if this omicron fatality had fit their aims and been younger or healthy or slim, then the BBC would be using this info - BBC needs to be impelled to add context to data and lurid headlines so that populations can make rational assessments of the news.  Those of us that have first hand knowledge of wards are aware of what the BBC consistently fails to report.

So you are a medical professional?

    Your assumption is incorrect.

Many make the same mistake of thinking that you can emigrate to Thailand and you are exempt from UK tax  - you are not.

All income derived in the UK is subject to tax.

Then you have a personal tax allowance.

Tax is payable at the appropriate rate above that.

Having worked in this area, I can tell you that it is up to HMRC when they tell you that you no longer need to effect an annual assessment.  Could be after 1 year or longer.

It comes down to your employment status, property,  pension and income within the UK and income etc derived abroad, once they believe you are truthful they can state no further assessments are required subject to changes etc.

There is no hard and fast rule, but what I can tell you is that there are substantial fines etc for just not completing assessments that come back to bite you if you return to the UK or start a pension up.

Why not try and be honest?

If you want great "chips" then you need great potatoes and type, sadly no much choice in Thailand.

However, it is also about what you fry them in....oil...never.

The best way to fry chips is with lard or fat.....I find a great way is to render down some pork belly fat strips (easily done in a microwave) and use this fat for frying.

In fact, you will be surprised how much better tasting everything is frying with pork fat!

    Give it a try!

  7. Okay, I've read the comments etc.

I had the same issue with Lloyds Bank International, I contacted them stating I don't accept the new deal and this was not what I signed up for originally.

I explained my position that I did not want to make a formal complaint etc and they backtracked stating I can stay on the original account contract, ie no monthly charges etc.

    Give it a try.

I went through this about three years ago.  If there is a suspicion of cancer then a urology consultant that I contacted in the UK advised that for prostate imaging a multiparametric MRI is required ('mpMRI') - this is a lengthy scan that needs a machine with a powerful magnet (e.g. 3T). And of course you need someone with the appropriate experience to interpret the scan.  I was quoted about 40k THB in Bangkok (I think it was Ramathibodi Hospital - but not 100% sure) - this was around 900GBP at the time.  I happened to be heading back to the UK the following month so opted to use a UK private hospital - they charged me 1200GBP including consultation etc.

There is a company that provides 'low cost' MRI's in Thailand - mrithailand.com  but they could not help with mpMRI.

Your advice is absolutely correct, I have also found in Thailand that the resulting diagnosis is often flawed, in fact, I was diagnosed twice with Cancer in Thailand (Prostrate and Liver) and when I went back to the UK they showed me the scans and blood tests....all negative.

So important to have a skilled Consultant without your VISA in mind, sorry, but that's what I thought.

Want to do the same....sending some 7" vinyl....

If I go to the website of the Thai post there seems a lot of options but at two different post offices they are talking of more than 1.000 Baht.

If within Thailand, use the bus service for deliveries.

For overseas ask for "ship" price if not in a hurry.

I don't know how they do it, but the Chinese vendors on Lazada seem to be able to ship items of almost any size and weight all the way from China to Thailand for something between 40 Baht and 80 Baht. If you can figure out what they're doing postal cost-wise and replicate it, you'd be onto a winner.

Chinese sellers have a bulk postage price, regardless of size and weight, as you within 40-80 BAHT. I've tried, it's only for items sent from China by sellers.

  11. Sorry, but I think you are being very naieve?

Committing everyone to the cost of this....what if one person in your group has covid at time of flight, maybe you will be all refused boarding, maybe all quarantined at Bangkok.

A new highly contagious strain was announced today from the African Countries with flights entry etc being effected! What if that spreads to other countries?

It is far too early to be organising such a trip, but as they say "Up to you"
