Teenagers who live close to my home who have been arrested  many times for stealing bikes told  a police man who lives in our village they dont like  Honda PCX'S  because  they're too heavy  to lift  onto a pickup ...thats the way they steal the bikes , load them onto a pickup  and drive away seems to be less risky than playing with the ignition

I agree there!  Plus a heavy duty chain and big lock affixed to say a lamp post etc.

I have a suggestion, contact the village headman and advise him due to continued rat infestation you will be putting rat poison outside your property and ask him to advise  the troublesome owners to best keep dogs inside for the foreseeable future.

Fat chance that would work! Rather you would get aggressive Thais at your front door demanding compensation for everything wrong in the area!

They dont give a rats azz if the beach chair vendors make money or not.....

But they do care a lot about trying to create a soul-less Singaporean utopia, void of any plants or trees on the beach except for unlimited plantings of the one trick pony Palm tree....

Have you been to Singpore?  Yes it is carefully managed, but they have many natural beaches and parks, something you can never see in say Bangkok or Pattaya!

Yes, the pavements are even and clean, yes there is very little rubbish and yes the locals etc respect there country, they have daily beach cleaning....all the issues Thailand ignore!

We had this problem last year for a long time, finally the PEA came out and tightened the wire connection from the main cable to the meter. The cables were just put on without a real clamp.

took 20 minutes and no charge, problem solved.

To be clear,it was the connection on the main line coming towards the meter, they told me it is a very common problem.

Yes, had the same, especially when raining, turns out the cables were so loose going into the meter they had to change it through overheating.

Much of the MG design work takes place in the UK at the old Longbridge plant and they are for sale in that country. They would not be so unless they had meet with the very stringent safety requirements that the UK demands. And I'm sure that Australia's rules are just as stringent.

You're talking a load of nonsense.

They have absolutely nothing to do with the UK, they are designed and made in China! MG is not British!

Good crumple zone? Air bags are an extra even! No side bags, no passenger bags. the German TUV tests rated the MG SUV as 1 out of 10 for safety.   Note: In good head on tests at 80kph speed they expect the windscreen to remain in the car and the doors to be able to open.  MG Hardly!

Thailand confirms 67 new coronavirus infections

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand confirmed 67 new coronavirus infections on Thursday, of which nine were imported from overseas, the public health ministry said.

All but three of the 58 locally transmitted cases reported were linked to an outbreak discovered at the weekend at a seafood centre near the capital Bangkok, Taweesin Wisanuyothin, spokesman for the country's COVID-19 taskforce, told a briefing.

Cases have been detected in 27 of the country's provinces since last week. More than 1,300 infections have been linked to the seafood centre outbreak, the majority of those migrant workers from Myanmar.

If you are resident in Thailand and remit earned income to Thailand in the year it was earned then you are tax liable in Thailand (if tax was paid else where that you could prove and then claim a rebate on the Thai tax owed) The income should be declared and tax return submitted.

If you are resident in your foreign country then you would have to see the  tax rules related to residence, declaring foreign earned income and earning income whilst living and resident in your country and if taxes are to be paid.

In theory correct, but unless you have a Resident basis and no longer domiciled in another country then you will not be taxed on income earnt abroad even if paid in Thailand. Note: Having a retirement "Visa" does not mean you are resident in Thailand, it merely allows you to live in Thailand for one year and then renewed.

Sure I think many will argue this fact, but I have been working on this basis for over 10 years and I am Thai registered for Taxes and UK registered for taxes, neither request Tax on my foreign earnings and I declare it every year.

I've never used Specsavers and my last full hearing test was done maybe a decade ago, so there's nothing recent to send to anyone.

I'll have a look at the DEAR place on Sukhumvit, just to get an idea of what they're like and what prices they're asking.

As for going to Bangkok, it seems such a hassle as it will involve repeat visits.

The cheapo hearing aids suggested above from Amazon and eBay would be fine if I could get one attached to the hearing aid that's just gone AWOL rather than trying to use the nasty in-the-ear buds that never seem to fit me.

Just go to Pattaya Bangkok Hospital, get a hearing test with a Print out and send this to UK!   Up to you, depends how bad your hearing is as Cheap E Bay and Amazon might mean cheap, Specsavers offer great deals from £350 upwards for Oticon and similar.

Buying in the UK was always my fall-back plan if I ever needed new hearing aids, my brother got a pair from the local Specsavers a few years back and he's very happy with them. Very reasonably-priced, too. Unfortunately, with the current situation, that's no longer feasible, so unless I'm happy to rely on just the one remaining ancient hearing aid, I'll need to get something new.

IF you can get a very good hearing test with a good printout, you can order on E Bay any make and if you send them a copy of the hearing test, they will set them up....In theory farly good!  (Reminder: DO NOT GET THEM SENT BY DHL or Courier, just normal registered post.)   Import duties etc.

Or get your brother to explain at specsavers and maybe they will set up with a print out and then he can send to you?

As Thailand has lost its spot as the most popular cross-border destination for tourists from mainland China, according to a survey by HSBC Holdings Plc, as neighboring Japan and South Korea moved up the list.

so Thailand will have to really grovel and beg and offer freebees to the Chinese tourist to come here.. free seafood buffet and free massages comes to minds...

You are forgetting Thai logic...they can bring out countless facts and figures that show the World wants to come to Thailand.

All they will do is increase prices and cost of getting to Thailand as a genuine tourist, sadly that will never ever change!

Ultimately the Thai Elite and Government could not care less and will blame the foreigners for all the poor Thai peoples problems!

The Thai Post international rate calculator is here:

    https://www.thailandpost.co.th/index.php?page=index&language=en

Click on "calculate fee" at the list on the right.

Mail to the United States is 220 baht plus a 40 baht surcharge.  More for heavy letters.  Quite a shock after years of inexpensive international air letter post.

Should read thecharges, mail to USA is not 220, more like 30baht for a letter.

    Thanks for all the replies.

I went to Darren at KeyVisa.

I mentioned the 500 baht for ThaiVisa members - he wasn't interested in that at all.

He charged 1000 baht - fair enough.

I am 66 years old and this is the first time I have received a UK State pension, so I will probably find someone who will do this each yearfor 500 baht or less.

The problem this year is that I did not realise I had to provide this POL information at all as I had filed the letter.

I had 16 weeks from August 3rd to return the POL letter and that is 28th November - in 5 days time.

So I was in a bit of a hurry!

    Thanks again for your help.

Okay, here is the real answer, anyone who is retired and had a job in Financial services, or retired Police etc can sign, you do not need  stamp at all. Just get the person signing to send his retired Services number and it will be accepted every time.   I am a retired Bank Official and have been signing these for past 5 years without issue.  ....next time!

Well it seems Paypal have had in the last months a lot of problems with account members being hacked.

Their answer so far has been to put in place a new safety protocol wich consists in sending you a key number

on your phone, and with this key number you can access to your account.

The problem is if you have changed your phone number in the real life, like it happens to a lot of us on a regular basis

for multiple reasons, but you don't have updated your new phone number on your paypal account you are not able anymore

    to access to your account.

To update your phone number on your account, you need to loggin in the account

to loggin to your account, you need the key number send by paypal on your old phone number

    it's a catch 22.

Of course the only way to contact paypal if you have a problem to access to your account

is to send a message using your account, again a catch 22

A lot of people aren't anymore able to access at their money in their paypal account

and it seems there is no any solution to resolve this problem.

I wonder if someone here have the same issue and have been able to solve it

or there is no any solution and it's really a way for Paypal to put the hand on millions of $ ?

Never had a problem?  I use them on a weekly basis for all types of transactions. Updated address and updated country and telephone number, no issues?

DHL FedEx and others will always scan/open all packages and tax and VAT them even items valued under $50, as for meds, best to enclose and have extra copy of doctor's prescription if any or a pharmacy receipt to show the value of said items... also best to send either EMS or other past postal deliveries stay away for the Couriers companies when possible...

Quite correct, it's always best to find out what delivery service will be used at the Thailand end! For example using the UK postal service "Royal Mail" the delivery in Thailand  is the standard Thai Post service, and if Express or Registered I never ever have had an issue, in fact even standard post is okay.  Of course, it helps to make sure your Thai wife etc, has a cordial attitude with the postman!

Even posting to UK, it is only about 89 baht for registered post by Thai post, you can track even to the time delivered in the UK and takes normally about 3-4 days.

If you want potential problems , then DHL and FED EXPRESS will give you everything you want, ie Import charges etc.
