  1. there are actually a number of stores that will have saltwater stuff.

the best albeit not the cheapest is certainly shogun in katiem market, behind lotus,

but just one row over is w ocean ,last time i was there she was trying to sell a 5000 l tank/ 1/2 inch glass! for bt 20 000.

there are two 2 smaller stores outside big c on the way to san sai. good luck.

  2. i actually don't tip at all but instead when i walk around every minute or so i grab a handful of 20's mixed in with an occasional 100 or 500 and just toss it over my left shoulder.unless of course there are some really deserving prolos right in front of me then i let if go ahead of myself

  3. you'll find them at the night bazaar for sure and also at the sports store or robinson in kad sun keaw i believe

my thai wife loves them when we go swimming after overcoming a bit of shyness

and realizing that t shirt and jeans are not really comfy ocean wear

  4. on the eastern side of suriwongse rd between cm gate and the small local market is a warehouse where they sell it in big bags....

the lfs (local fishstore) has it maybe 10 bt per kg. ask for "grua"

  5. i see vang vieng direct advertised all over the tourist areas in the little roadside travelagencies-

they looked like minivans on the pics-

i would go through the effort and actually look at the vehicle with my own two eyes-

it is well worth the trouble-

please satisfy my curiosity-why vang vieng

what is it people do there?

  6. the thai license is the way to go as it is also a legal id !

you don't have to carry your passport-i just got a ticket at the airport

and hadn't even thought about it when she asked me but i just gave her my license

many dual priced thai venues will give you the thai price if you tell them and show the license

  7. good advice already given by others

i just want to second the santitam location

and want to add too that riding the bike home at night 35 k is just murder.

learning to ride the bike is good but not for that purpose.t is even far in the car after partying in town.

  8. take the ordinary bus-the mountain air does not need conditioning

also the minibus will drive you around for on hr plus in chiang mai to pick up others and cargo-

watching the local scene on the 60 bt bus is far more entertaining !

  9. any woman looking for a man is looking for a man-I found that true in many societies and levels therein-they will generally expect some form of pampering, protection and initiative from you combined with the finesse endemic to their class.thai professionals are no exception other than the pros on loi kroh who just expect money.
