  1. This snow flake , look at me Z generation remind me of a Bernard Manning joke.
  2. Saw him drinking in Cowboy once or twice. Never met him and didn't really want to. But in an age before the internet when nobody even had a television , the evening newpaper he had a column in ( The Bangkok World ? ) was a useful guide to the cities nightlife.
  3. Plenty of days off while working for British Airways but no doctors note. Only single day so note not needed. My Pinay nurse girlfriend had a dingy attic room in Maida Vale and to make a 6.30 am early shift I had to leave her warm bed at 5.15 am . On a winters day what would you do ? Go to work or have a shag and go back to sleep. I eventually got dragged over the coles for this. I learnt my lesson. No more single days off. Took a week off instead and got a doctor's note.
  4. Been a long time since I had some young tail between my legs.
  5. Hey... What an idea ! Someone should open a gym with a bar ! Get on the treadmill whilst necking a beer and grabbing peanuts from an attached tray.
  6. Dear Mr Universe. I have completed the course , now send me the muscles. Go and have a Chang Bob.....you know you want to.
  7. Everyone is different and my solution won't work for most people but ... I am approaching 67 years old. After much consideration I have decided that should my wife die before me I will leave Thailand and return to the UK to care for my elderly mother who owns her own 4 bedroom house. I will give the house and land to my son in law and his wife. ( lovely couple with 2 daughters and own house already. ) For myself , I will just keep the car and wife's jewelry. Easy to sell and will give me about 500,000 baht. This solution will allow me to leave Thailand quickly or convert to retirement visa and live on here until my mother can no longer manage. In reality, it is more likely that I will die before my wife but an agreed on back up plan saves a headache should the opposite happen.
  8. In my late teens and early 20's I had 2 pinay girlfriends in the UK, both nurses. And thus my love affair and infatuation with Asian women was born. After that I was with a Chinese Malay girl from Penang , also a nurse. Absolute stunner and a Virgin despite being 3 years older than me ( 23 ) I don't give a hoot which neck of the woods they come from, just beat English ' roses ' hands down. Now I'm happily married to a Thai and at 66 just a regular old fart but sometimes I can't help thinking back on a wonderful life of hedonism and dissipation.
  9. I went back to the UK for a visit and did it online at the same time. I was truly amazed how simple it was. No questions about previous employment at all. Glad I didn't try to do it from here.
  10. And I do mean it ..... this time
  11. Speedy recovery Kate.
  12. Bob doesn't do the night shift. Must be Dan having a quiet night at home .
  13. No, I have not indulged in pis*ing into the wind myself in the belief that the only result would be a further wasting of my time.. Yup, 15 years ago it was a breeze. Try it now and you will find things have changed.
  14. Already been done by many : https://iasservices.org.uk/vfs-global-receives-criticism-after-string-of-severe-issues/ https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/nri/latest-updates/two-vfs-employees-forge-visa-appointment-letters/articleshow/101848572.cms?from=mdr https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/home-office-investigation-complaints-vfs-global-outsourcing-visas-immigration-a9214306.html These are just a few examples. A google search turns up many more. Some of the questions about terrorism are absurd. If I had ever been a member of a terrorist group and actively participated in terrorist activity would I be dumb enough to write it all down on a request for a UK visit visa ?? Related to the visa issue : https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2017/sep/01/home-office-makes-800-profit-on-some-visa-applications?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
  15. We don't mind applying for a UK visit visa but NOT using that bunch of money grabbing crooks at VFSglobal. There have been many complaints about some of their sharp practices that squeeze applicants for more money. Applying for a UK visit visa should be a straightforward process not needing an agent. I have never used an agent myself but can understand why others feel one is necessary. Over complicated and too much paperwork with lots of dumb questions.
  16. Well, 'out fer nout as they say.
  17. Maybe not ugly just lacking in personality. Back in the UK I had a very scruffy and average looking mate but he always managed to pull a nice bit of fluff for himself. Gift of the gab. Lived with his mum though so couldn't hold onto them for long.
  18. True that. Unless they are hitting on women over 60.. But you never know. I was back on the Isle of Wight last year flogging the remnant of my goods and chattels one of which items was an old tent that had been in storage for 45 years. The bloke who turned up to buy it I estimated to be late 50's early 60's. In good shape with a full set of hair. With him was an absolute stunner of an Asian girl in her 20's. Small, light skin and with excellent English. I was drooling and it was an effort to not go over and lick her all over. But...I couldn't place her nationality. Not English , definately not a Thai or Pinay . Maybe from HK.....don't know. But it did make me wonder if it was costing him or was it free. Will never know.
  19. Well, there is that. For some guys paying for it is the only way they are gonna get laid.
  20. Not really . I'm out every day and never have any of the issues he imagines he has. However , I don't live in a tourist area so the locals have not had to deal with a lot of foreigners on a daily basis. When I mix with Thais it usually ends with smiles . I had a German aquaintance , who when speaking to Thais , used to tilt his head slightly back and talk down his nose at them and talk with a superior tone. The contempt was usually mutual. Kept coming back to Thailand though. Strange that.
  21. Opposite of my experience. The more I frequent a place the happier they are to see me. Speak Thai to them which they like and refuse any tips I leave saying my continued patronage means more to them. Must be you Bob. More negative experiences in a week than everyone else in a lifetime.
  22. These posts would be better if they commenced thus : Once upon a time in Bobland... and concluded : And they all lived happy ever after.
  23. Eventually ? Took a short time to gather evidence I guess.
  24. 500 baht fine plus 10 years prison for lack lustre pointing.
