  1. Got the old Ford back up and running. New clutch and bearings 6500 baht, fingers were damaged could of used old clutch plate but decided to replace. The real problem was a stripped spline on the hollow shaft from clutch to gearbox. 1600 for shaft and 750 to modify length at machine shop. 3000 labour(split tractor twice) so all in all pretty happy. Got it home and did about 4 hours of slashing, hit a small rock and snapped the pto output shaft???? Not all bad as needed changing to fix the oil leak, will be about 1400 baht for new shaft and seal and save me a lot on oil as most of its work is PTO. First real birthday its had in 15 years so had a good run should be good for a while now. Got to admire Thailand and their ability to carry on supplying any Ford spare parts you need and at a reasonable price.
  2. This is the Thai style available everywhere. Probably need to hire a tractor for 1st go then this for maintaining.
  3. I have had a outside after dark lifestyle on the farm here for last nineteen years. Besides the start of the rainy season when the flying ants disrupt your night, air movement is the key with a fan on and the main lights away from your sitting area to keep the insects away. Our/my entertainment area is joining the outside kitchen. It might not be as bad as you think.
  4. Not sure when people say Thai gold. Where i worked it was sent to abroad to be refined.
  5. I think you have mentioned the darts before Owl. This gets the blood pumping.
  6. I would make a call to the Thai tourism authority to see if they have anything in place. Did that 300 baht on arrival tax ever get of the ground?
  7. Just being discreet Alex, don't want to put extra pressure on the young fella by plastering his name all over asia's most famous forum. Larkey,a dead eyed dick to 35 metres out but not a Benny Brown. Personally i would of played him more at centre half forward as his body is pretty banged up for his age taking on two defenders most games.(but who plays genuine CHF's these days) Still has potential to kick 70-80 goals in a season as he reaches his late twenties. The shining lights for me at Arden street is Ben Cunnington and Will Phillips back fit and healthy. Going to be a big year for the two young ruckmen in Xerri and Coleman-Jones,how they play could shape our season and interested what Josh Gibson can do with the likes of Bonar in the backline. You will probably have to look up most of those names to Alex???? 11 weeks would go a lot quicker if we had some competition in the cricket test matches this summer. Six wins for the year will be a good result.
  8. https://www.perthfc.com.au/football/senior-players 56 Alex. Had a few injuries early last season so hope he has a better run this year.
  9. My nephew is on the list at the Demons. Might be able to learn something off Cus,footy wise i hope. The Kangaroos have assembled quite a rich list of coaches, just realised big Monky has also landed as ruck coach. I hope Clarko goes with the let's kick 4 goals a quarter method,if a side kicks seventeen to beat us at least it will be entertaining for the fans.
  10. Hi KS Prices are similar. As there is still more hand cut sugar than machine around here the practice is to still burn the rows after it is carted away so the fertilizer can be applied with a tyne implement. Was a sad day here yesterday as my 6610 died. Went and started slashing the back paddock, did about 400 metres and lost drive. No bangs or noises and pto, lift arms still work so had to get the harvester out to tow it back home. Will have to split it to find whether it's the clutch which has been sticky for a while or a snapped shaft somewhere. Replaced the clutch about 15 years a go so if it is that i had a pretty good run.
  11. I'm glad it works both ways. I used the notification date on slip in passport, even though i left the country for two weeks and should have reset the dates it was confirmed in a day.
  12. For me it would depend on whether it's rain fed rice paddy or you have the ability to irrigate. If can irrigate i would go with the rice split with the farmer. If not i would rent out at a minimum of 1000 baht/rai. If you can find someone willing to rent long term and pay up front the money could go to errecting a boundary fence.
  13. Sold the last of the KK6 rice today, price up to 12 baht/kilo. Will have to think whether to grow any hom mali next year. The markets favour the domestic market and the KK6 yields better than the hom mali. Driving passed a few sugar depots, the price has gone up a little to 1050/ton plus 70.
  14. Will the hedge not grow back through the wire to support it.
  15. As KS said,go into a farm store and take a picture of supplier bagged chicken feed. Contact that supplier to see what different blends they sell if shop keeper cannot tell you. With a bit of hassle you could visit 3 or 4 different grain merchants and mix your own. Not sure what is in chicken feed, rice seconds, corn, soya beans and rice straw? Buying locally would ensure no gmo's or hormones added. As far as ground cover goes, maybe buy a mix of grass seeds and a couple of legumes to broadcast out and rake into the land. Youtube is your friend, there will be plenty of Thai videos to see how the locals do it.
  16. I went home after a night out with mates and played this all night.
  17. Stop the gas future contract to EU from Qatar, easy. Only if they are serious.
  18. I recently bought a 42". The mounting points are feeble if you wish to wall mount. Still working out how to get it to go straight to hdmi when turned on. The screen seems pretty solid compared to others i looked at.
  19. Sky news is pinned in the World news section, just click and watch.
  20. Sold some rice today, Hom Mali has come down a little in price, got the 12.8 baht/kilo.. Had a rai of sticky rice variety(khaowong) which they only gave 8.5 baht/kilo. Not sure why,no deductions on the docket and a bigger plumper seed than KK6 Should get 11.5 tomorrow when take the KK6 variety. Mrs is happy it's out of the house yard,i prefer to keep it and the rats there if any than in my shed.???? Sugar is in full swing here, only one weigh station had a price up and it was 1000 baht plus 40. Thought it might be higher than that.
  21. It is all riddles, new and old. TBH the better versed on here i find hard to understand a lot of the time.
  22. That is correct, recently i tried to book a domestic flight with my card. Thai smile said they needed my name in english which the card is in Thai. Long story short rather than walk back to car to get passport i wrote my name down on paper in english and they issued ticket but i had to show passport to get on the plane. Mine is renewal type of card as under 60.
  23. Hi IA Not sure what their thinking is with big v small combine, one would think it comes down to the operator of the machine. Would be interested to know if the bigger machines run east/west drums, not axial flow. You will always lose more grain if the combine is not kept full at all times. For instance if you slow down to pick up rice on the ground your wind speed will be higher throwing more grain out the back. What is the price of a harvest contractor these days,it was capped at 600 baht/rai a couple of years a go. Anyway seems a shame to do all the hard work to grow the crop to receive a heavy discount from not following thru till the finished product. Farmers back home were always taught to make the most of a good year to make up for the bad ones. Glad to see you got enough to keep the bellies from aching plus extra,it looked like you guys got a lot of late rain down that way.
  24. The sugar mill must of opened a couple of days a go. One of our neighbours has started cutting. The cane cutters have got a wrestle on this year with the height of the cane. Looks like a 15 or 16 ton crop,it is 1st year sugar. Haven't seen or heard any prices yet.
