  1. I was going to ask where to get one in the airport but my wife pointed out that I have a multiple entry, which I now remember getting. I might be wrong but I think I got that at the airport. I need to go to immigration anyway. I had to do my 90 day report and did it online. For some reason it was rejected.
  2. To be honest if it's serious enough to stop me getting back in time, it's probably more important than my visa. I've booked my flights and I'll be back in Bangkok early on the 27th May which should give me enough time. However long I have there's always the possibility something could go wrong. If it does then I'll have to come up with a plan B. I assume I'd have to leave the country and apply from there.
  3. Sorry for the delay in replying and thanks for all the help. It's unfortunate timing but that's out of my hands. My wife usually does all the paperwork and isn't coming with me so I'll leave that with her. She works in a government office so she's used to all this stuff and she seems to get on well with those working at immigration. Thanks for the reminder about the re-entry permit.
  4. That was something I was looking at. Unfortunately I won't be here 45 days before.
  5. I'm British and 69, until June, and I'm married. My Non Imm O visa based on marriage runs out on 6th June. I'll be going to the UK on the 8th April and returning on, probably 27th May. My wife is worried, as although Mahasarakham immigration has a shiny new office, visa applications are sent to Khon Kaen and she's concerned that may take it past the end of my visa even if we visit immigration before the 6th June. Does anyone know if the date you apply is the one that has to be before the expiry of the visa?
  6. Well it looks like any other Scoopy i and much as it did in my first picture. However since you've asked I'll try to get a pic with the light on when it gets darker. It's a long time since I've posted pictures on here and these came out a lot bigger than I was expecting. Good if your eyesight's not good though. I'm sorry I didn't post of my success earlier but I didn't think anyone would be interested. It turns out there are more sad people with no life than I'd imagined. I feel a lot less lonely now.
  7. Yes I want to know as well. There seem to be quit a few different ones, some of which I've managed to take pictures. I just missed one that was a bit like a red squirrel. Would you like to see them. 😀
  8. My earlier suggestion of sending Boris wouldn't work then. I'm not sure diplomacy is his thing.
  9. Thank you for your valued support. I have now achieved my goal and I'm just wondering why I've not heard from the Thai media asking to interview me. Maybe I should have punched the guy I bought the bulb from. 😁
  10. Well it's an old manifesto, but I'd like to think they might continue with that policy, however I can't see the national finances being good enough for a while.
  11. Big Jokes is something we've got a surplus of already
  12. They should have sent Boris. That would have avoided any suspicion of work.
  13. It's amazing that he looks like the grown up in the Torys now. Sunak isn't bad and I wish he was better as he's from my home city but he's not really much of a politician, plus he's arrived at the wrong time. I wish Cameron luck but I think he was equally enthusiastic about China when he was PM. As for green investment, didn't he want to get rid of all the green crap?
  14. I managed to find a Thai manual for our Scoopy which it turns out we bought in March 2011. It's hard work reading it using Google translate on my phone but I eventually found the right page with diagrams. I'm sure there must be English versions as according to Wikipedia it's sold as the Metropolitan in the United States, the Jazz in Canada, the Scoopy in Australia and Asia, and the Crea Scoopy in Japan. The Jazz name in Canada is confusing. The name seems to have been used for bikes, cars and SUVs at various times and places. Anyway I managed to remove the front panel and the bulb is just a case of taking off the rubber cover, pushing down on the back of the bulb and turning anti/counter clockwise. All I need to do now is get a new bulb and fit the front panel back. That may be a bit more difficult based on experience. As well as the screws I showed in the pictures there's a screw on either side which goes through the front of the floor panel. I'll include a picture of that. The 2 large screws either side of the horn, which are shown holding the licence plate in the video posted here have to be removed. I was told years ago that you could get a basket, like that on the Wave, for the Scoopy. I'm guessing that might use those 2 screws.
  15. I should clarify. I replaced the inlet valve on the toilet because it was leaking, not just because I had the tools to do it. I'm not that sad quite yet
  16. Yes I could. Quite often I do with jobs here as I don't have the tools I had in the UK and buying them here would cost more than getting someone else to do it. I just thought I could do it myself as I have the time. Last weekend I replaced the inlet valve on one of the toilets, because I had the tools to do that.
  17. Yes I've seen that one. It's so easy she doesn't actually do it. Hers is a later model as well by the looks of it. It does have the same 2 screws either side of the horn. The only reason I didn't take them out is they seemed a bit too big to just hold the front panel but maybe I'll try loosening them. I'd forgotten that her licence plate was attached there which of course we don't use here. I've just loosened them but it doesn't seem to make a difference. It might be that it's just tight but I don't want to waste energy trying to move if there are other screws that are still holding it.
  18. Yes, I'd forgotten about her. And I believe she had quite close connections with the government as well. 😉 I don't know how they pay tax but it's probably just down to using the correct job description.
  19. Yes but that's down to the delays dealing with their claims which a government minister thought was a good deterrent apparently. Well if about 70% are given asylum or some other permission to stay then that's only 30 percent who will, or should be removed. There has been a reduction of removals in recent years although the reason isn't clear. It might be down to better procedures on entry stopping people coming in, or it might be down to the normal Tory obsession for reducing funding in real terms. It's certainly the case that they are unable to keep the numbers down, although to be fair, as I said people coming over on small boats are easier to see than those hiding in lorries so part of the increase may be down to that. I don't think the numbers arriving in small boats is that large within the numbers of other legal and illegal immigrants. Not that you'd guess that from the right wing press. I think the OBR report before the budget based some of its growth on immigration. As for being a soft touch I think you'll find asylum seekers can work in France but almost never in the UK
  20. I went on it recently. I can't remember when but I think it might have been a holiday and it was opened to ease traffic. The speed limit seemed very low but I assumed it was because all the barriers hadn't been fitted. I think it might have been 60kph then as well. It was very slow and although I tried to keep my speed down I couldn't go that slow. Speed limits here often don't make much sense and it's not unusual to see 2 different limits on the same road. Everybody else was speeding past me as you'd expect and the only vehicle going slower than me and not exceeding the limit was the pickup reversing along the left hand lane. No idea where he was going to though. Probably be better when it's finished though. Assuming they don't think it's good enough as it is and they've run out of money anyway.
  21. I think the number whose state pension are frozen is about 500,000 so probably not enough to make a difference. There is cross party support to end this but it does cost money. I'm hopeful that a new government might see how this is unfair but I also realise that finances aren't good at the moment in the UK.
  22. We've got a Scoopy i which actually belongs to my step daughter, but she lives in Bangkok now. It's rarely used apart from if the wife's sister visits, also from Bangkok. The only other times are to get fuel and just keep it running. We had to take it to get it tested which took only minutes and it passed even though the headlamp bulb was blown. Haven't used it at night so never noticed. I don't understand why it should pass in this condition but, hey, this is Thailand, where driving tests aren't conducted on the road as it would be too dangerous, apparently. We could just take it to the Honda dealership or probably even the local village repair guy. I wouldn't trust him with anything much after I checked the tyres after he had pumped them up. I can't remember the psi but it was a lot and at the top end of my gauge. I don't think he has one. As I don't have much of a life I thought I might as well do it. I may well have to go to the dealership to get the actual bulb but at least I'll have that sense of achievement. I know the front panel has to be removed and I've seen descriptions of the screws that need to be taken out but it isn't always clear and all the videos I've seen seem unable to show them, choosing instead to have long shots showing me what a bulb looks like. I'm not sure of the year of the bike but my stepdaughter is 29 now and she was just finishing school at the time and would have been 17 or 18 according to my wife. I think she was the first person at her school to have a Scoopy i. I've removed the 3 screws on each side behind the edge of the fairing and 1 each side at the front, behind the wheel. There are 2 more just below the handle bars which seem to secure the panel above the lamp. I'm not sure if they need to come out or not but it's one less thing to hold it. At the moment the front panel doesn't seem to be loose but I don't know if that's because these things are always difficult to get off or if there are other fixings that need to be removed. There are 2 big screws on the front between the lamp and the mudguard on either side of what I assume is the horn. They look different and much bigger, so I'm thinking they perhaps shouldn't be removed. I've taken some pictures of the bike to identify it and the screws I've removed and the two I haven't. It's years since I've added pictures on here so it might not work. I'm sure there's lots of people who've done this who can put me straight. Thanks in advance.
  23. The clue is sort of in the name isn't it. Unless people think the idea is to speed over them. Here in Isaan it's not only the speed bumps but all the other holes and and then the bumps when they fill them in but don't level them. It's bad in a car, although I suppose it's easier to avoid on a bike
  24. I think it's from a phone not a dashcam. Nevertheless, the police declined to acknowledge her account, citing the absence of dash camera footage as substantiating evidence. Angkana showed the video from her phone, displaying Agamom’s aggressive behaviour
  25. According to the article that seems to be from a phone but she later provided CCTV footage. As you say there's nothing showing what made him stop. I have doubts he would done it deliberately when riding a bike and she should have been further back anyway. Maybe that's why the cop wasn't that interested. If he finds the person who hit him is the same one who apparently cut him up then that might explain his anger. Shock can be a reason also.
