  1. You Just need Covid insurance as far as I know and AXA Thailand can do it but there are other companies as well.
  2. Although it's more expensive I think your suggestion of 90 days cover may be the best idea so as to avoid problems. That's what I attempted to do with AXA Thailand since they're a reputable company. The problem is that I have pre existing medical conditions. Hypertension and high cholesterol which I've had for years. Or rather I haven't since I take medication for it. I had prostate cancer but that's gone since I had it removed in November and so far it doesn't seem to have spread. Because of these they can't quote online which is a bit odd since the policy doesn't cover pre existing conditions. I don't know if I can contact them to avoid the online issue. I may have to try companies in the UK or a broker possibly. The advantage with AXA was that they know what's required as well as anyone. I'm sure I'll get it sorted eventually.
  3. Thanks. So far the online application has been fairly simple but it needs to be updated. It would help if you could upload more than one document as that would give them more information They want a statement showing £10,000 so that will be another. They also want a document that will confirm their current residency so I could send another although I'd prefer to send something different. Trouble is I don't have much else to my living arrangements in the UK.
  4. I'm just doing my online application for a Non Imm 'O' visa based on marriage and I got to this. 'Health Insurance Policy covering treatment and medical expenses related to COVID-19 with a minimum coverage of USD 100,000' Is this still a requirement as I thought it was $50,000 now? Also does this have to cover the length of my stay? For the Thailand Pass I think it's $50,000 and 30 days is enough. I think all these changes are confusing me. Any help gratefully received. Apart from this and some confusing parts relating to the required documents such as the fact they ask for bank statements but but you can only upload one it's a pretty good system so far. I hope I haven't spoken too soon.
  5. The test on day 5 can be in a different hotel although I can't see the point of it.
  6. I was married in 2013 and I'm not sure I can remember all the details now. I know we went to the British Embassy which has moved since then I think. That was to get the Affirmation of Freedom to Marry. I can't remember if I had to take anything such as my first wife's death certificate but I would imagine that all that would be on record anyway. If you can obtain it in the UK that would save a lot of time. I'm pretty sure it has to be translated into Thai before you take it to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (I think that's the one). If you don't get it translated beforehand there was a place just inside the ministry building that we used. After that there's what can best be described as a Thai job creation scheme. You wait to take your papers to someone who looks to see if you have everything. Then you wait some more and go into an office where someone else stamps the papers without looking at them. There might have have been someone else who just looked at them and gave them back but I'm not sure. After that I think it's just a case of waiting. We had booked a room nearby so we could go there and come back later as it takes hours. I would make sure you keep the document safe as I've heard people say on here they've needed to produce it even though they can prove they are married which they couldn't have done without it. It's never happened to me but best to be safe. Then you can enjoy the marriage. We had a celebration but not until the next year when my sister and her husband came out. We didn't have any monks either which surprised me. The marriage itself was a bit like applying for an International Driving Permit at the Post Office. In fact at the next counter was a neighbour of ours (possibly a relative of some sort as well) who was getting a replacement for her blue book she'd lost. You often hear people say "We don't need a piece of paper to show we love each other." That may be true but others often do. In particular government officials. In your case for your pension and in mine for access to health care and being able to accompany my wife if she works outside of Thailand as she's a government employee. Obviously take account of all the warnings that you can find here regarding marriage and if you're sure go for it and good luck.
  7. The 90 day visa that I applied for in 2019 there were no financial requirements which is why I used it to enable me to get a visa whilst I was sorting out my finances which I did the following month. A visa based on retirement would require 800k baht but unless it's changed it has to be in a Thai bank. It would be easier if it could be in my home country as I have that amount already and I only need 400k baht as I would be applying based on marriage. I'm assuming at the moment that I will need that for an extension but not for the initial 90 days. I did have 400k in a Thai bank but I moved some to my wife's account as she needed it and I'll replace it when I get back. I'm not sure how the embassy wants to proof of finances these days.
  8. I'm currently in the UK where I've been since September 2020 and I've been planning on coming back to see my wife again for some time but things keep changing. Early last year for a while I couldn't leave the country then I was waiting to see if the quarantine of 15 nights would be eased and there was the Phuket Sandbox which looked a possibility until the one night whilst waiting for a test result came along and that was perfect. I planned to spend Christmas with family in the UK and then fly out before New Year. Then I was diagnosed with prostate cancer and had that removed at the beginning of November. All went well but now I have to wait and hope the nerves that control my bladder movements repair themselves. In the meantime I'm using pads. They are quite big ones which I need if I'm out walking but at the moment I cut them in half at other times. I think I can organise around my flight and one night in a hotel but I'd rather not have to deal with longer if I can help it so I'm hoping the Test and Go scheme is reinstated soon. The pads I'm using at the moment are these. https://www.id-direct.com/ukb2c/en/product/iD-Form/iD-Form-discreet-(53cm)-Normal_5310155280.html I think the 53 cm is overall length but the absorbent part is about 45 cm. I've looked online and I think my wife is looking as well for something similar in Thailand. I've seen some Tena ones that look as if they might work but there are other makes that I don't recognise. It would be a bit insensitive to hope someone has experience of this but if anyone does I'd appreciate any recommendation. This should improve but I'm aware that it takes time.
