  1. Must be my dyslexia kicking in. When I read the topic I thought why OP is asking for a place that sells lamingtons ????.
  2. Okay here yesterday and this morning. I thought I had the tides worked out from 2011. As already mentioned we are about six hours behind the predicted tide times. Yesterday was weird until I was informed that the Moo Baan had installed two pumps. Two more going in today. They have definitely made a difference. The next 24 hours will tell how well they control the water level.
  3. I seriously doubt that the contractor had any type of insurance whatsoever.
  4. Being a drug mule for 100,000 baht, he must have been pretty desperate. I thought the Danish social security system was very good. The fact that he did it twice before he must have thought this is easy money.
  5. Thanks Jerome. Have ordered two tubes on Lazada. Yes you are right, I searched for di-electric not dielectric on Lazada. Don't know where the di-electric came from! I need to use a dictionary more.
  6. Having been through the 2011 flood in BKK for six weeks I need to take some protection considering the current state of play. I have an electric gate opener, a low positioned power outlet (outside) and a water pump which need protection. I did some reading and watched some YT videos and it appears di-electric grease and/or a gel (magic Gel by Ray Tech) should waterproof the exposed electrical connections if they go under water. I used silicone in 2011 with some success although not total. Does anyone know where to buy either of these products or suitable alternatives in BKK? I looked on Lazada and at Homepro; zilch unless I'm calling it the wrong thing. TIA.
  7. Reading the article she is going to have a hard time getting out of this. Why are some people so stupid? Rhetorical question I know. Just plain greed.
  8. Yesterday was a bit of a worry what with the torrential rain and nearly neap tides. The water covered the road in the entire village.
  9. Weather forecasting is more art than science. True of forecasters all over the world.
  10. How much a dose? The article says more information on Line and Fakebook neither of which I use.
  11. Really weird. I received a notification you had replied. When I entered the thread now all the pics are displayed.
  12. Bang Sue Vaccination Centre was an efficient place to receive the covid vaccine. The first time was a bit hectic. The other three times I went not so many people so not only efficient but quick too.
  13. This happened in 2011 too. Also the opposite, raising sluice gates that had been activated to stop water draining away. Just a case of nimby syndrome, water wise.
  14. Crossy, I concur. Yesterday the high tide (1914 at 3.2m) the water level never rose to the level of the previous night. Water still on the road yet about 20/25 cm down. I hope this trend continues. Edit. Why does this site sometimes display posted pics yet other times there is just a broken link? It's just not this thread but all threads where a pic is posted. A bug in the code?
  15. Yesterday. High tide at 0905 3.6m and 1907 3.2m so a 40 cm drop between the tides. This morning when I went outside there was a line of debris just at the gate line so the water came much higher than yesterday afternoon. The road would have been completely covered. This is a worrying trend. It means the water from upcountry has reached us.
  16. We are about six hours behind the predicted time of the high/low tides. High was predicted at 0814 this morning and the water came up through the storm water drains. Peaked water at around 1430. First time since 2011 we have had water on the street from the storm water drain.
  17. That would be inner space between the ears.
  18. It is up to the people controlling the country, not the court. The decision has already been made long ago.
  19. IIRC it is not only tourists who will be charged. People who live here (not Thais) will also be charged. In my 12 years here I have never been to a hospital without the hospital requiring payment before letting me go. A small amount of the 300 baht will be allocated into the 'medical fund'. I suspect that the vast amount of the unpaid bills will be by workers from countries like Burma, Cambodia and Laos. A breakdown of the countries would be helpful, that is never coming. The employers just don't take out medical insurance for their foreign workers. This is just a cash grab for people in power. Nothing less.
  20. A dinner cruise trip is nice if you want to see BKK from a different perspective. There are quite a few. Buffet, set menu or a-la-carte. There is usually some commentary although mostly in Thai as these cruises cater to mostly Thais. Two hours although length varies as does price. See https://www.viator.com/Bangkok-tours/Cruises-Sailing-and-Water-Tours/d343-g3 for a selection.
  21. You do realize that this article is in the Bangkok sub-forum? There is another article dealing with this storm in the main news section.
  22. I spent a couple of nights in Suk Soi 22 a few weeks ago. Bars had little to no clients and everything was dead by 2300. I fail to see how allowing opening to 0400 is going to help the tourist trade. Just going to p@ss off the nearby residents.
