All of the real world data in the fiber lines being offered to consumers shows it only marginally better than better quality ADSL lines, and no better than dual lines with a load balancing router (if download supports that). The 20 Mbit package pulling in about the same as the 10Mbit line also.

    Basically just because they are being advertised the true 'up to' 100Mbps lines are not performing anything close to it.. 10Mbit being about all anyones seeing.

    I do understand bangkok has some condo based fiber connections, but these are not like the True 'ultra' packages being offered.

    If theres better FTTH up here would be good to gather real world data. I will get a True Ulta installed shortly and relegate my current 6Mbit to a back / load sharing line.

    LivingLOS- not what I asking yet appreciated. Sorry if my request did not seem to request shop or biz center.... as i have 10\1 at home and it can take days for down\uploading when it will take hours in a Fibre center ideally.

    Business centers or shops in CMAI ANYWHERE with 100Mb down and 10Mb up are supposedly around.... Yes at 200-300bt ph yet would be worth it for occasional usage. Cmai is lacking in these centers and Web searching shows only monthly rentals for business.

    Anyone tried the Airport Biz center internet.......any good or crap as normal.

    Maybe someone in the local Computer Club will know- just thought of that.... will keep anyone interested updated on my search. Work smart not hard and long is the name of the game. Lol.

  2. These speeds no good in comparison to most other cities in the world.... Ozone looks to be winner only if can get Admin password. To maybe get 5Mb upload speed- worth putting on a smile and requesting, if possible as will save days per time.

    I will ask around outside town.... then keep those in need updated as I know half a dozen Web guys complaining of uploading their work taking days to weeks.

    When they can do it in hours back home on 100Mb link.

    We can dare to dream to have the facilities of home at fraction of price. Lol. Who knows....

  3. Howdy, I been told there are Shops or biz centers with super fast down and upload speeds. Yet no one can say anymore in regards to where.....

    When needing to download or upload quantity like 5Gb (By the way a Blue Ray movie can be 20+Gb) or so this an issue on most 6Mb down 500k up networks. Even 10\1 no good, as it can take days to upload serious quantity.

    Now a Fibre Optic link of 100\10 changes all of this.... anyone have the details of these super fast network internet shops or centers. Location or number etc.

  4. Hi guys\girls, I been in a few Moo Barns and most keep the standard up pretty high... others seem to slack off and let the place turn into a dump. Housing and rental prices drop accordingly. What to do when Moo Barn Management doing next to nothing? If those in the know state 'Do not pay'- what are the implications of not paying. Surely they could not take a home based on 1-2-3 years etc of missed fees. What are the rules? In our case we been in excellent Moo Barns with 2 security, several cleaners, facilities kept clean always, etc. Now we in a Moo Barn that are a lot less active and still charges same rate as other surrounding Moo Barns. Hires 1 security (also sleeps always) and 1 cleaner only. I worked out Management get approx. 125,000 bt pm and do next to nothing. Outlay must be far less than 20k bt- great profit margins. What to do? Surely owners can simply force Management out or stop paying as some have done. Thus why many Moo Barns reach a point of no security and\or cleaners, etc. Anyway we rent and for the most part owners prefer renters to pay the fee... naturally. However owner states do not worry as we have not paid for over 1.5 years and many others not paying. The Name and Shame sheet displays approx. 20% not paying. We keep getting letters of demand for the owner but they never paid since Oct 2009... what is likely to happen? Reading this only demand letter states an extra amount will be due... but not taking possession of the house. Management leaves and all maintenance comes to halt like some older Moo Barns I gather. Depreciating an investment by a huge amount. Still huge profits for management who do nothing from the 80% who do pay. Must be in best interests to do less than the minimum required. I feel maybe a 10 year timeframe is noted in contracts, after that the Moo barn has no obligations... Any thoughts? Renters and owners.....cheers

What a joke of a democracy system and the corruption and greedy rise to the top. Well at least they all have good role models- change the law when PM to sell AIS to SG for billions of profit.

    Thailand need a person who is FOR the people... not for themselves with all these corruption games. It will never change so all us Farang should shut up I guess or go or whatever. For the people is what is needed IMO. But IMO does not matter so Mai Pen Rai.

    Currently have voip discount- which is same company as voip cheap, voip stunt and many more....

    They told me to get a DID then add it.... I gather I cannot bring my Skype number being a Aussie number with me? Skype charge quarterly for the number rental then more for every little thing after- like getting voice mails, etc. So SKYPE can really add up.

    If I had the skills I probably could do something with voip discount... as all Landlines and Asian mobiles free for a 10 EU change every 120 days. AMAZING deal.... call mobiles in Thai, Aussie\UK landlines, etc for free. Well 10 EURO per 120 days I should say.

    Equipment wise been talking with this firm for gear...in Bangkok. Plus they trying to sell on their services. Yet cannot offer free landlines as voip discount or cheap can. Or free to mobiles for a monthly fee. Seems more complicated- easiest for most people is to sign up with SKYPE as you need zero knowledge. Yet ultimately you loss in costs and quality.

    If their deals are good and offer support will be worth it as opposed to import from Internet from HK\China\USA etc.

    Thoughts? - most Thai firms seem to have a jumbled mess as opposed to easy to use plans ans support. Not in Kanas anymore Toto.... Keep it simple stupid should be more their Motto.

  7. Good work to attempt to get 'true' anonymous feedback. As you will only hear the truth from newby's to advanced in Thai reading, writing and speaking via anonymous forums.

    Most need a push start or serious motivation to keep it up IMO or you get lazy with just knowing the 500 odd words\phrases that you can 'get by on' . Visualization, seeing and doing is the best method for most in learning anything new- as it has been proven for most. Most wish too... yet the motivation lacks to follow through and long termers can even get embarrassed that they did not take the time and effort. Then never bother and stick to key expat areas- which is fine for most. Real incentives need to be there... just as with anything. This is the greatest hurdle IMO. We all come up with excuses unless it an essential NEED or VALUE for us to learn more. Or most (95%+) will just wish to get by... such as in nearly everything in life IMO.

    The free half day a good idea.... conversion rate will be poorer than expected I feel. Yet a lot better than if nothing offered.

    All of us need to be focused, motivated and learn the way you feel is fastest for you. Most may not have tried accelerated learning (Visual queues) and it never sticks unless you reapply daily for a few months. Then you need to use at least weekly and preferably daily. Yet after being in classes or learning online- getting out and applying by doing is the only real way.

    Compared to the schools of AUA, and others listed it is very expensive. That is a 'give me' unless great ongoing support offered. Having done AUA it was good... yet back to homeland on a contract and most lost. The best in AUA would apply that lesson in real life to real people and 2-3 guys advanced far faster than the rest of us.Others more naturally born\self taught to learn languages as a buddy could speak and write very fluent Thai in less than 3 intensive months. Plus knows 15 or so others.... gifted yet has cues plastered all over his Condo walls and visual DIY methods when in intense learning phase. He can apply his learning to anything, so chooses all languages. Sounds similar to RLL method.

    I think you know you need to bring overall pricing down to get more students or offer a lot of ongoing support for the rates. That comes with a guarantee- knowing some around here they will exercise the guarantee. Personally I would follow up often on those who applied for free lessons on Web Site or attended freebees. As offering x4 over period of month, most will think NO something will come up and I cannot attend. Adding that attendees may come along to following missed days will add value. Plus some sort of ongoing support is promoted. Good sales Reps can be trained to follow up on all that applied over web, phone, classes, etc. My 2 cents.

  8. Naturally Skype has several deals......others recommend www.voip-thailand.com . Whilst others go for the cheapest that are hit and miss.

    For best BANG for your buck what have others found.

    Small business in Thai needing VOIP IN\OUT, where to get VOIP gear, what is best gear, etc, etc.

    Basically would be good to have headphone fix PCs and hand free options. Rings on PC (If on) or on your VOIP phone unit when PCs off.

    Portable wise you can setup on mobile device if needed- if traveling.

    I spent hours researching best pricing, so will share research on costs, equipment, etc in what we find and test. We have small office of PC x5 and needing solution for better call rates back to homeland in Aussie and UK.

    Some have available VOIP IN numbers for UK, Aussie or wherever..... as most calls will be to land line and mobiles in homeland. They should have local call cost number...... currently Virtual offices take messages then send audio file of messages via email. Cheaper to do ourselves if we can.

  9. In my opinion, buying a few condos is a much better idea. There are condos you can buy in your own name. The rent from the condos can give you a better return without having to worry about staff, the music police and a host of other problems.

    If you buy a house and your wife passes away you have to sell the property to a Thai person within 12 months.

    Definitely rent before you buy property. Don't buy any property until you have reliable knowledge and support that you can trust.

    I certainly wish that I had done a lot more research before buying property and taken things a lot more slowly. Imagine the worst possible situation like your wife wanting a divorce - not at all uncommon in Thailand - and then think about trying to unravel the mess. A rental home would be a blessing in such a situation.

    Other people have had great ideas for a business and the ability and finances to establish the business which has then gone on to become successful. Something as silly as not allowing an internationally renowned farang musician not being allowed to play music in his own business has then put the kibosh on the business resulting in a huge loss of money and incredible frustration.

    You can never predict what will happen in the future but one can be fairly safe in making the prediction that if something unexpected does happen to affect the farang business it won't be in a positive way (from a farung point of view).

    Buy Condo's and operate company that supply your homeland IMO. Yet seen a few making $$$ from ventures in Thai mostly back to homeland- yet you are not smarter than Asian biz guys- they have local knowledge and mates, etc. Just KNOW over 95% fail in less than 10 years. Yet it still 80% failure rate on relationships and businesses in your own homeland..........spouse is important in this land.

    I would never feel comfortable with as little to live off as u suggested in bank- I would go 2 Mio Condo 3 Mio cash\stocks\whatever. Better still 5 Mio cash\stocks\etc and rent under 4% yield if want a property- easy, Thai banks no interest rate for farangs- so forget them.

    Do not trust this government and the LEAN against property to protect yourself is a CON... as stated from Thai lawyer. As any problems she kicks u out and good luck in court. Simply accept it is not our country and relax. Seek your niche and take ur time in investing IMO.

    Always best from what I seen when majority 90%+ of assets in the name of Farang (As typically 90%+ came from you)..... Condos, cars, biz's, investments, etc. Give her a car, motorbike whatever... then protect her in a Thai 'Will' if wish (Especially if children involved). If assets not equal it only common sense whether you have 5 Mio or 5000 Mio. Different world.... farangs can be better off in worst case here if played correctly- as we butchered in any divorce in homeland.

    One more point buy Condos, cars, etc before married or it can be claimed as common property in worst case- EXPECT the best and plan for the the worst (Just in case).

    Exciting times- like many here been through it many times.... enjoy, learn and experience life. Well done- u out of the 'rat race'- staying there takes 'smarts'.

  10. Many Farangs who know the history in the last decade will consider exiting all investments and having our 2nd homes elsewhere IMO. I know I will.... The corruption in this country is amazing- made up promises that the Thai people actually believe shows the stupidity and forgetfulness of the nation. Lost a lot of respect in this once great land..... many other emerging nations to select from. Greed rules this world far too much and Taksin plays the game like a genius. Very glad I looked into Vietnam amongst others to move office. As thai is done and dusted in coming years thanks to Taksin and his corrupt approach that all copy.

    I will advise my own clients to stay away from investments in Thai.... plus the onset of them wanting to looking into Farang biz's with housing or land with a lien on it proves they are Anti Farang. Simply put their are better places in the world for investments. That are far more Farang friendly. Fun wise do as you please but the 12am curfew will come back.... Taksin was hell for many in his reign and now he is back. What a corrupt and unjust nation this is. Burma\Cambodia probably have more ethics. No word for ethics in this nation.

  11. My calculations took into account that Thai gold is 96.5% and adjusted accordingly.

    Not really concerned with all the avenues for Gold shop profits. Yet I do see 'sometimes' you can get a good deal in buying the bars here- if the especially out of town Gold shop not keeping track of current spot pricing.

    Just 2 days ago- I saw 2 stores 30 metres from each other. One had BUY price of 21650 bt per Thai baht. The other was 22100.

    In terms of weight- I been told to bring own micro gram weigh-er to the supposedly below standard pricing- as it is meant to be set in Thailand rom hour to hour.

    Anyway interesting to investigate..... much like the silver pellets are sometimes far below spot price when they not selling much jewellery that week. Happens moreso in out of way places, other than busy areas I have found. Cheers JAY

    Lol..... yes sounded like I was going to sell something but it just thoughts in mind. Just back of napkin scribbles in those interested in purchasing Thai gold. I have no vested interest........... just wished some would 'have a go' at telling me the reasons WHY Thai gold sometimes below international spot price.

    Thought i calculated wrong as most places you pay a good 5-10% premium to hold the hard commodity. Not so in Thailand.

    Does not look to be a lot a profit in gold shops for the amount of investment required. The investment required is incredible to hold all that gold just to sell a few pieces per day. Or few 1000 pieces in China town and busy areas.

    I must be missing something.... sure they get $$$ from rings, etc being the labor cost- near nothing.

    Still cannot get my head around owning physical gold in vault in Thai often cheaper than buying SPOT price on the market. And not holding physically...

    Although a Finance guy i am new to precious metals investments and learning as much as possible. As clients demands more security other than shares in these volatile times.

    i been to 5 gold shops with my calculations and they state they get for less than International SPOT price- HOW and WHERE? Naturally 3 from 5 shops could not be bothered to answer my questions or had no idea.

    Main earner I see for them is when they buy large amounts and the GOLD price keeps going up whilst it siting there. In times when going down it must be very hard business to make a profit.

    Also why are MOST Thai gold shops Chinese\Thai owned?

    Anyone buying in Thai then selling back in homeland- i will guess most not wishing to share that info as it probably a good earner if have the right people to offload to in homeland.

    I been trying to find out the supposed taxes in exiting with thai gold- cannot find. As this can be the only reason for guys doing a 'Kit Run' as I heard it called.

    Being chain, rings,etc to XYZ value for a quick 3-5% supposed profit... as one bragged he never paid an airfare due to kit runs. Now it may not be making 1000% like drug runs but must be rules in exiting with a lot of gold. Surely?

    My misses very happy with knowing her 2 bt necklace\ring total is worth 300% what we bought it for a few years ago. Amazing. Wish all my investments went as well- Lol.

    As stated no vested interest- just wanting more info from those more in the know than I......thanks.

    Well at just put me off a 10 Mio land investment- good one thai ministers. Will invest in your competing countries. Soverign risk getting far too high in Thai now IMO.

    Between the REDS 'likely' to win, to taksin coming back, to miliatary coup, to changes in foreign biz\land rules, etc. It all a joke....

    SIMPLY do as some do- tax foreigners MORE to own up to certain amount per individual for personal usage (Business different naturally). Then the Ministers will gain huge amounts in extra taxes, etc. BUT No they cannot make it that simplistic- the fear of the unknown has put me off large purchases in thailand. Many with far more than me feel the same....risk simply too high.

    If i had a voice i would suggest 3% more tax to foreigners to own up to 1 RAI for personal usage in their own name. If wish to be greedy make it 5%. better than current rules.

    WHAT happened to the rule stating if foreigner invests over 40 Mil baht in thai they entitled to put 1 RAI in own name. Is that still around? Yet will not help 95% of us. Who have no interest or cannot afford to invest 40 mil baht in thai. plus we really do not believe it as even the national anthem states ' every inch of thai belong to Thai'. Yet in our homeland they can buy whatever they wish, within reason. Only exception being HUGE commodity biz's or certain industries.

    Personally they can own whatever they wish to in our land. COME on simply make it more fair for us to have our slice of paradise as well, without any concerns. Or we rent.... invest elsewhere as most do IMO.

    Fear and greed rules the world- currently as an investor I fear Thailand. Not good for Thai economy going forward if they wish to run things correctly. Stick to Condos....MY 2 Cents.

  14. Most brokers here claim to outperform the market greatly via 'various' contacts- Taksin style. We all know the only way to seriously outperform the market other than pure LUCK. Aberdeen claim to outperform greatly as well when consulted with them. Asking them to prove it is simply- they make up figures in a presentation to show you. Thai style being to be totally unbelievable.

    But I hear some people in the know do outperform the market via individual companies or a small lot of associated companies- Taksin style. It is SE ASIA after all.... pay for insider info.... Mr T just got away with another few 1000 million baht and charges dropped. it a joke only if we do not benefit- lol. Some brokers claim to have Taksin like skills being the name of the game in these markets.

    Otherwise put money in BKK Bank stocks and get good yields.... if believe in the growth story of thai in coming years as an emerging economy. Even with all the corruption and pretense that we have all grown to love. Brokers PAY for their information- plus others in the know- without a doubt. Much like the rest of the world- at least it more transparent to see here IMO. Greed and fear rules the world.

    Gold\silver if you more a doomsdayer............... with all the Advanced countries debt worries who cannot be a little doomsday like. Safe was is a suite of commodities and equities. If same claim to outperform greatly- test them out with 5% of your worth then see how you go.

    The last few months a Diamond Trading in BKK fr Africa mine to HK sellers- claims he can turn your money into over 30%+ every single month. Payable every 90 days.... not compounded monthly 90% after 90 days. He will even put up equity to cover investment- not worth much when he takes off with your $$$. All sorts of dodgy investments for you in this world- if it sounds too good to be true then it generally is. Since having the offer made to me- 4 brokers have called trying to see if they can be apart of the action with the Diamond trader. Settle down cowboys. Due diligence needs to confirm assets to take.... as I said all sorts of schemes. Some worth a look- MOST not..... sounded a bit 'blood diamondish' to me.

    As been discussed a few times and I wish to give my views on Thai gold Vs spot price. Not hedging but holding physical commodity.

    Soros bought a fortune a year ago when telling the world Gold was to take a DIP- he doubled holdings at the same time- dirty Bart$%# (Wish I was him- Lol)..... India just bought TONNES more. Emerging economies want MORE- as who trusts the NON BACKED USA $ to be the world standard anymore. We all want more GOLD and so does the whole world.

    Whilst stock market finding FEET again I may what until GOLD down 10-20% again before loading up on 5 BT Thai bars.

    Where are people getting the BEST physical price anywhere in the world?????? Thai must be one of a handful that offer close to SPOT price for physical holdings.

    As Thai gold charges a 0% premium to market spot price most of the time. Yet depends on the time and place you get the gold in the store.... Sometimes need to be faster than the slowest stores- LOL but it true. For a quick 2-3% gain.

    Some guys who are bearish on GOLD (Not many) or not in the know- sell theirs below PREMIUM to hold physically. Mostly in pawn shops, so pawn shops should be checked out if you know your stuff. As they will tell you 96.5% ring 30 gram ring when in fact much less in % and grams- so watch out.

    Physical GOLD\SILVER\Platinum is always good in times like now- but if the economy does by some miracle in the next 2 years then GOLD back to under $1000 Oz.... plus silver $20. It all a hedge against the economy.

    I feel the market will pick up very slowly yet with great volatility- being a stockbroker for over 10 years I seen nothing like this........only Grandaddy can tell me about Great Depression and research of this as similar but in many respects very different. I do believe we will see the days of $200 Silver and $5000 GOLD as a GOLD bull- IF the basket of currencies idea does not work that OPEC wishes to introduce without USA involved. The time of USA reign is coming to an end- exciting times. We know which 2 economies, especially China, will replace within the generation.

    World standard I predict for 2025 is the YUAN- Lol. Probably not just possible- after we have a mixed back including US, Yuan, EU, etc. It will happen, only a matter of time. This story of US printing more money and one politician letting it slip that 11 TRILLION more $US will be printed over the next 3 years. Making USA deficit 25 TRILLION as opposed to 13-14 Trillion. 102% of GDP to probably 200% by then. That is default time in years to come- not yet no not just yet. They must look to have tried to have done the best they could over many years- a very slow bleed.

    For GOLD\Silver means UP and UP over time with some volatility- the trend is your friend until it ends. Over $2000 Gold next year- very easy. Simply think is under $1000 more likely in 6 months of over $2000. My bet is on the latter and NO I will not tell you where I store the Gold\Silver bars. I think Silver will outperform GOLD for a few months until reaches 1:25 ratio then bounces back to 50 year average of 1:40. It is 1:45 ratio right now- so either or. Palladium and platinum I do not have as much knowledge but wishes to look into it more. Any thoughts on Platinum\Palladium coins\bars?

    Also there is a GREAT place in BKK for Silver pellets of 92.5%- not pretty but the guys making the wholesale jewelery do not follow market value and simply store, so often pick up for under 5-10% below current market costs- silly them. I noticed expats offerring more and more Canadian 99.9 coins- wish I picked them up when offered a fair few at market rates a few months ago. BUT dam it I left mine and clients money mostly in stocks.... any stock recovery now that i been having a hard time by my expat and overseas clients in regards to their stocks I pick for them. As I say I have no control over the world- I wish I did. But we in great small capital and growing companies is the best I can do. Then comms with management and insiders is always good. Thai SET wise you need to pay for the info whether true or not- mostly not as they do not wish us Farangs to have an advantage and we not their mates. So I hesitant right now in the SET with the issues in the next few months.... I believe. REDS win then cannot form correct government then military gets Democrates back in- then issues on street etc. SET should not be well over 1000 pts IMO. But I have no crystal ball- just some instinct over time. As long as the instinct and info is right more than 50% of the time then you outperform- simple.

    DO NOT SELL your gold\silver and other precious metals IMO. My 2 cents.

    ANYWAY- on my main question 'How can I get less less than the premium Thai gold charges..........calculations below for the analytical;

    WORLD Price approx. $1498 per Oz right now x 30.76 bt = 46078.5 baht

    *** 1 Oz = International troy ounce 31.1034768

    CONVERT to gram pricing = 46078.5 \ 31.1 = 1481.62 baht per gram (World Market price)

    Thai pricing = 21950 baht per TH BT (15.244 grams)

    Convert to gram pricing = 1421.63 per gram (Remember only 96.5%, not 999)

    Add 3.5% to thai pricing = 1473 per gram ( Shockingly just a tiny fraction less than online market spot prices- can happen when GOLD going up- the other way when going down fast)

    Anyway a 5 BHT THAI GOLD BAR (96.5%) = 21950bt x 5 = 109750 baht (Purchased in any retail shop in thailand- shop around if want fraction better). GOOD VALUE to hold the precious metal in physical form. Only 100-200bt between BUY\SELL price....

    Or better still some may have some favourite places than offer slightly better- I find best to shop around but can go UP\DOWN with that time very easily.

  16. We posted premium ads in TV classifies without success. As we specifically wished for CMAI guys\girls. Looking for Thai or Farang Web Developers to work on a few projects. As we have many projects to complete. PHP\My SQL guys preferred. Any Apple or Andriod guys would love to hear from you if based in CMai, seems not many around anywhere. Many projects to get done. Needing assistance. Please give me a PM if interested or for more details. Prefer based in CMai, as tried out freelancers from other lands and did not work out so well.   17. Many huge forums put on legal disclaimers that leave it to the individual to defend if he\she has done anything wrong. Eg. Is stockbroking forums- insider trade information is discussed- the individuals involved are in trouble if the forum protected, not the forum.<br><br>If this was the case then Facebook, twitter, etc could be sued all over the place. Up to the individual poster, court rulings have determined this. It not a matter of getting in trouble if you the owner of forums or blogs or none of us would run or own them- as the legal hassles would be far too much. They are enough as is...so you cover yourself legally then simply point people in direction of your legal disclaimer that not your thoughts, opinions and this is simply a medium for communication. This guy obviously directly made out of place statements and advertised the wrong product + the wrong people were annoyed with him.<br><br>I suspect the man ran and posted his own feelings that broke the Law of Thailand. If this the case then he must face justice. We do not make the laws of this land, most get off with a Royal Pardon anyway, these days.... More often than not I see only those who have peed off a government officials or police or a Mia Noi of one of them LOL- that get into trouble in this part of the world. But that my own point of view. As you see raids or places getting closed down- normally they have simply annoyed the wrong people in this world.   20. Many expat clubs of all ages.... sporting club for whatever sports u interested in. If you can do it in homeland most likely a group here. Thus the appeal for many expats- many feel older expats only. Not true many of us got away from the rat race in our 20s and enjoying life here in our 30s. So u will find your peers whether you ambitious, retired or cashed up investor, etc. Many have sporting mates, drinking buddies, working buddies, etc.

    Online biz's are ideal... As many are Internet entrepreneurs, stockbrokers or investors- if you not a teacher or bar owner that is....

  21. No problem- glad to help out.... I still declare a residence in Aussie yet trade the world. Your tax deductions can be very high when you travelling the world trading. As long as you dropping in to chat with Directors. So tax wise not much of an issue unless you plan on 1000% gains. Then they will want their slice of your pie. UK allow more deductions. In reality of you trading all over the place then have a couple of brokers in seperate accounts, even names if wish (Like spouse name) to save on tax. Yet you really need a trusted spouse to spread this out. Not sure how cashed up you are... less than a couple of Mil would not worry about claiming high deduction in UK on any Cap gains.

    Naturally consult a tax account in UK for best advice. In know Aussie not UK.

    Be careful of the brokers here in Thai whom charge 7% VAT + take tax out automatically- I hear it happen to some and cost them big time. Stick to what you know and whom you know. UK best IMO for you. Claim expenditure here as directly deductions- yet if very cashed up get serious advice.

  22. www.interactivebrokers.com generally accept anyone with the bucks- however it makes it easier to give a Farang based address, whether your homeland is USA, UK, Aussie, Germany, etc. Many can be reluctant due to money laundring reasons if you ONLY give a Thai address.

    Many expats trade any market in the world from Thai over the interent... does not matter where you live yet an address in Farang based country helps. Even if it is not yours...

    As they would wish to track you down especially if you took out margin loans and they needed to call in the margin loan. I.B do not have an address in Thai. Go through the IB broker in your homeland....

    I would not go through a Thai broker as I do not trust them as much PLUS the rates are triple the rates we get from homeland brokers. Personally use a broker from your homeland, give a family address (Sister, brother, parents, etc) then get cheaper trades and no issue trading from Thai.

    If you need to go through a Thai broker- then KIM ENG trades on most markets. Every BUY or SELL is double to quadruple our homeland rates however- which adds up if you trade a fair bit.

  23. I see someone selling a unit at Thongkham COndos in MaeSai for 289K. Anyone know where in MaeSai that it is located?

    BTW, Absolute is offering financing with 3% down--so 339K Down, and about 5500 per month for years 1-5. that's at 6.875 and then rate goes to 7.5%, based on a 1.128 million price. And then there ae those pesky transfer fees. I love the Chiangrai Condotel, but those dam_n cracks make me too nervous--it is earthquake country.

    Financing to Farang.... never heard unless in a Thai partners name.

    3% down being 339000bt that over 10 Mio. You mean 30% I gather.... then I can understand why they would give financing to Farang, as you miss 3 months payments they take it back and sell to the next Farang. They 30% up...

    They would never give to Farang for 3%, as the risk is too high. Aka US of A as Thighlander knows all too well.

    10% yields is possible in CMai or CRai simply seems to take some negoitating to get prices down and rents up. Good luck investors and owner occupiers.

    It been a good plan of a few guys I know to rent out 5-10 Condos or houses for good income to live in Thai. You can then do whatever you wish or your biz is simply investing. Good position to be in... many strive to get to this position. To me, you need to be at least a few $Ml in homeland to be investor only... in SE Asian only few hundred thou for the equivalent. IMO. Same quality of living for less....

  24. Yes she been quoted from 4500bt to 15000bt for a new nose in CMai.... so she looking a price to save a few bucks. Hope this does not bite her in the butt... after surgery.

    I am sure Chiang Mai Ram etc will be 25000+ bt if clinics this price. Also they put her to sleep... now I would be afraid to never wake up again- Lol.

    Filler wise she does not need as young lady but she feel she needs for smile lines. Approx 10-12000bt for 1 year lasting filler...yet 10+ year alternatives around for a bit more- Aquamid, etc. They call them permanent fillers... filling in scars to lines, etc.

    Anyway all up as much a a new motorbike.

    As quoted by Joan Collins (Another freak of nature at 75yo).... 'Would you prefer to have an old car and step out of the car in a new face OR a new car with an older looking face'. Everyones freedom of choice.
