    Hi Smedly,

Our friends from Invision had this to say " I've fixed that for the next release 4.1.17. It's an email template fix, so not easy to apply as a hot fix but we're currently testing .17 so it shouldn't be too far away. "

As soon as they patch it again ill be patching the system like i do around once a fortnight.

    TD

    cheers, thx for the update

    kind regards

  2. did I read "law enforcement" ?

wouldn't it be great if the whole Thai economy was dependent on enforcement of all laws instead of - we won't buy your fish unless you stop the slavery

    money money money

I honestly don't believe there is a word in Thai that means "standard" or "Standards" or for that matter "enforcement"

Maybe that is the simple explanation as to why no such a thing exists

Here I was thinking that you'd finally woken up - then I read your reply to aussieinthailand...

The only downside in elevating corruption to the top of the criminal tree and dealing with these people in the harshest possible way is that no-one group—including, and especially the military—is clean enough to take action. You still choose to ignore the fact that the Thai Military—according to a wide range of reports—is one of the most deeply corrupt militaries in Asia, if not the world.

Let me again quote a passage (from a site that may not be accessible without a VPN) that pretty much sums up the general feelings about the Thai military:

You keep pushing this false binary where everyone who, like you, doesn't think of Prayuth as a hero must support Thaksin, and it's way past tiresome...

I was actually thinking the reason they were transferred was because they didn't share with the higher ups...

you have your opinion and I have mine, you believe you are right

Let me put it this way. A condo block has 100 condos for sale, some developer stock, some resale etc. The developer is doing all the smoke and mirrors and managing to sell a couple of condos at an artificial price of 15 million each, at the other end someone has managed to find a reseller who is about to go broke, and managed to buy a condo for 5 million. There is a price in the middle of say 10 million were buyers would be happy to buy and sellers happy to sell, but there are no sales.

What is the price of a condo in that block ???

You cant say 5 million as that was a one off (limited supply), you cant say were supply meets demand at 10 million, as there are no sales (demand but no supply), if the only sales are developer sales at 15 million (limited demand, lots of supply), isnt that the price ?

Yes its artificial but its still were buyer and seller are meeting. Albeit at a low volume.

I dont know how you would appraise that market.

I take all the pricing with a grain of salt, I'm usually the guy running around offering 5 million.

thee correct price is when the construction company admits they built the condo for 2m baht and then sells for 4m

    You are entirely wrong.

Surely you are not trying to imply that the inastute actions of one uninformed buyer who  pays through the nose then sets the tone for the entire market?  :giggle:  You have to be joking surely and it’s preposterous. If a real estate appraiser based his or her opinion of the entire market on the sale evidence from  a single comparable sale and it was eventually found that comparable provided a very distorted perspective of the  real market which subsequently caused financial loss to someone, that real estate appraiser would be in court very swiftly being sued for professional negligence.

What is also preposterous is you trying to equate the amount of knowledge the average person has regarding activity in the real estate market compared to the real-time information provided in the stock market.it's chalk and cheese.

And the significance of buy one get one free is that do you honestly believe developers and real estate agents and brokers will then tell the next average sucker who is considering buying something in the adjoining condominium building that the the price was  discounted by 50%? No chance and particularly if the sales contract included a nondisclosure clause. And this is how they are artificially inflated price continues to prop up  prices in a very artificial market   There is no database of values in Thailand as there is in Western countries and everyone is kept in the dark as to what terms are actually agreed.

I actually agree with him to an extent

what happens is you have farangs that come here strapped with cash and the first place they do their research is with realters who effectively make this highly inflated market - so what they see is the highly inflated prices everywhere and believe them to be correct, coupled with the fact that they then do a comparison to prices back home and think they are getting a bargain - the part they are not exposed to is the actual construction cost which is a fraction of what it is back home which results in profit margins upwards of 400%

So these 2 people have been suspened from active duty for money laundering.

But if your a white devil falang, and you operate a legal business in your country but illegal here in LOS, and you bring the profits here and your a Dutch man, then you are charged with money laundering and gaoled for over one hunder years...

    Thai justice for you.

so why hasn't your hero Thaksin and his minions done something about it during many decades in office ?

  7. Is there any corner of this very troubled country that is beyond reproach, the whole place is just rotten to the core, I have never in my life come across so many dishonest people

It really is time to elevate corruption to the top of the criminal tree and deal with these people in the harshest possible way..........that is the only answer, the downside is that only the military have the clout or the possible will to make it happen and I say that with some reservation

You're not quite getting it.  If the Chinese guy was belligerent and aggressive then he would have been subject to retaliation, but the intent to kill is hardly proved at this juncture.

If I broke in to a Thai shop then I absolutely know, with 100% cast-iron certainty, that I am going to be stopped by the locals.  Whether that results in my death or injury is in the lap of the gods.

Get real and stop the Thai bashing.

you are just repeating what is supposed to have happened from the OP, most of the discussion is about whether killing the man or inflicting violence was justified, as already mentioned perhaps detaining him and calling the police might have been the correct way to deal with this but no not in Thailand where basically a gang of men beat him to death - they should all be up for a murder charge

Arrogant tosser from the sounds of it.

They are drinking in the lounge and miss the boarding announcements, for a BA flight from Germany to the UK. They get to the gate and it's closed.

Guess what ? TOO BAD for you ! The plane may have already been pushed back from the gate, AFTER a lengthy delay during which they no doubt repeatedly tried to page Clarkson & Co. and then had to remove their luggage from the plane as is standard practise.

I had it happen to me (once) when I forgot to reset my watch after landing in a new timezone. Rather than go into a childish rant and try blaming everyone else I went to the airline counter, explained my mistake and asked them to book me on the next flight. Fortunately they only charged me the fee to change my ticket and didn't charge me for a new fare.

I've also been on flights that were delayed by people who decide to wait until the "final boarding call" before trying to dash to the gate from wherever they'd been stuffing their faces and arriving just as the doors were being closed. Then more delays as their luggage had to be loaded back onto the plane.

It always makes me shake my head that people check in for the flight, have luggage in the hold, and then can't make it to the gate in the 30(+) minutes it normally takes to board. Then you see some that make it by the skin of their teeth, which are still dripping with whatever they'd been cramming into their pie-holes along with to 4-6 bags of duty free that they started shopping for after the flight had already started boarding.

Most of the people sitting around me would prefer the plane just shut the doors and go. You have plenty of time but decide to dawdle and drink/eat/shop instead of going to the gate, even though you know your flight is going to be boarding soon, then too bad. Enjoy waiting around for the next flight.

if you are in the first class lounge it is normally a duty of care and service to manage first class passengers to their flight - yes there are of course limitations

If this is true, you can see some   people who are struggling to pay

installments, their cars will get stolen and maybe broken up for parts,

it would be a better alternative to having the car repossessed, sold

and they would still be liable to pay the difference.

    regards worgeordie

    beat me to it

The headline is a little misleading and so is the lawyer - the person that took out the HP on the car is always responsible for the loan........................................but

If they have insurance then the insurance company will cover the loss

  11. firstly what has it got to do with him - mind your own business

As for Greece - the best thing they could do is get out of the single currency - it might work for Germany France and a few others to a point but for sure does not work for Greece, Greece needs to have another referendum and this time it is to either stay in the EU or leave

The gloom and doom liberals were preaching that the dollar would drop like a rock if Trump was elected. I had no idea what would happen to the dollar so I made a sizable wire transfer from my US bank to my Thai bank. Like everything else, they were wrong. I have since lost a considerable amount of money. Don't get me wrong, I am not blaming the rabid democrats, I have only myself to blame.

get yourself a dollar account with a thai bank and convert it straight back, your loss will be minimal, I converted my sterling to baht over 3 years ago at a price around 54 and converted my thai baht back to sterling at around 42 so I now have sterling sitting in my FCD Thai account which can be used for extension of stay even though it is in sterling (it is still in a Thai account) - this enables me to ride out the brexit process and fluctuations that are likely over the next 2 years or so, I can convert it back to thai baht as and when I want online with Bangkok bank
