  1. Reminds me of a scenario I witnessed along time ago. It was the 4th of July after a fireworks celebration at the fairgrounds. I was sitting in my truck with my g.f and her two young sons. We were stuck there because so many people were parked and wanting to leave at the same time. Right in front of my truck, a big drunk man was trying to pick fights with every guy who walked by - just for the fun of it. After knocking down a couple guys, all others wisely took a long sweep around him. He kept standing there with his fists raised. Then a skinny tall guy snuck up behind him and took a roundhouse shot to the big guy's face. He connected, but barely. While all this was happening, I was trying to shield the little boys from seeing it, but to no avail. We had a front row seat. Then the big guy got a grin on his face and squared off with the tall thin guy and started punching his lights out. The thin guy tried to get away, but couldn't. Not a pretty sight.

My spin on how this applies to the trouble in Bangkok: The Big guy is the security forces. The tall thin guy is the Reds Shirts. The Red shirts want to provoke violence (they've been trying for weeks), but just as soon as they get it started, and they get their butts kicked (by the Army, the big guy), they're going to scream for it to end. "Stop, stop, you big bully! I only hit you once, but now you're pummeling me in to the ground! Stop, it hurts - somebody help me!" ....and blame the big guy when it's all over.

That would make a great anecdote with a bit of work.

Trouble is you mentioned he was a big drunk bully, but at the end of the second paragraph, it was the tall thin man who was the villian! He should have blamed the big guy when it was over... it was his fault! You must have forgotten this fact from your first paragraph by the time you got to the punch :):D line.

If the bully is wrong in the first paragraph, surely he is wrong in the second? Or are the two not related?

Back to the drawing board me thinks.

EDIT. PS, I am trying to go to bed, can you guys please post more accurately and stop mentioning Patpong for five minutes.... Thank you

  2. Closing Patpong looks to have rattled the Expat community up there.

Calling for death, war, killings of reds, all out attacks.

Looks like a massive army in the North could be gathering, fully armed, with army backing and certainly the Police in the country... apart from a few hi-so generals and colonels etc.

Forget your fantasy about the Muslims coming to you aid, they hate Bangkok and its decadent elite more than the Reds do.

What Irony, the Patpong, Nana expats hoping that the clean living Muslims of the south are going to come north and clear the reds away from their playgrounds.

    Yet more nonsense from Grandpops.

Thats about 7 (I AM THAT SAD TONIGHT AND COUNTED AS i KNOW YOU LIKE ACCURACY IN MY POSTS. SEVEN OF YOU WENT TO GREAT LENGTHS TO REPLY TO THIS) classic kneejerk responses at the merest mention of Patpong. Ah, Patpong patpong, so good they named it twice.

I had more responses to this PATPONG references than any post all day.

Me thinks you all protesteth too much.

Nice post from me to end the day. It's ten now, so the army and PAD will have cleared the area already now and Abhisit will sleep safely in his little bed once more. Sweet dreams

  3. Every average educated person knows that the majority of charges against Thaksin were politically motivated. That's also why no country that Thaksin has visited has yet agreed to extradite him. They won't join the Thai political circus. Just like Interpol won't. If Thaksin was really the dangerous criminal that the current Thai government paints him as, Interpol would have long arrested him. Sure, he's done some shady business deals and put money in his own pocket, but if those strict guidelines under which he was convicted would be enforced in Thailand, there would be no politician left in the country.

    Interpol does not arrest anyone.

It is an organization that has memberships of different nations to disseminate information on wanted persons. It is not a law enforcement enity and has no arrest powers.

    Now, back to the arguing....

The goverment don´t want him back. They just like him to feel the heat under his feeths and travel around the world like a zombie

I find it quite funny that the reds have put themselves into a prison (bamboo), because it isn't a blockade! Now the army should plug up the in and outlets that the bamboo supplier and the food vendors and the leaders of the reds keep popping in and out of.

Lastly any one who comes out should be locked up and investigated.

Finally the government should invite Taksin to join them for the final showdown.

If you ever come to Thailand, you will probably not like it. It's hot and the people here are foreign and they do things differently to where you live.

At least I can go to bed with a laugh at one of the naivest posts of the day. Nice of you to show interest in the affairs of a country you have never visited.

    Investigate :):D:D

Invite Thaksin :D:D When the times right he will come back and guess what.... they'll wish he hadn't

You should read more political commentary and websites other than here and The Yellow Nation. Or stick to posting in the humour section. At least some of the PAD followers on here are intelligent and knowledgeable in their posts.

  4. Levelhead: I'm not sure how you hold the views that you appear to unless you are deliberately trying to wind people up - a kind of internet agent provocateur. Read my posts re an analysis of the situation from a psycho analytical perspective. I have found distinct and clear parallels between the red movement and the rise of Nazism in prewar Germany. Also, the personality of the red's leader is so transparent that I find it impossible that anyone cannot see this. Further, I do not think that any of the red leaders have made an intelligent comment ever since they started gabbling away on their illegally erected stages in Bangkok. Don't tell me you have been manipulated too!

May I add that I am not on either side of the barricade. I stand for common decency, human rights and true democracy. Thaksin was an anti-democrat who to the best of my knowledge was never directly elected (unlike Abhisit, funnily enough). He ordered extra-judicial killings which is not what you do in democracies. He rifled the country's wealth which a truly democratic leader would not do. He ruled his cabinet with an iron fist - which a democratic leader would also not do. The so-called fighters for democracy on the red stage are using the word 'democracy' as a convenient flag in order to manipulate the mass. The tactics used directly parralel those used by the national socialists and were outlined in Mein Kampf. Go for it boy, just go and study a bit more .... unless you are winding us all up!

Good post, Ian, but I'm afraid you're wasting your breath. You got it right with the first line about the the trollster 'levelhead'.

Hilarious pics in the only remaining newspaper in Bangkok. The PAD grannies are out again... and guess what, they are goosestepping!

This lot are attacking nobody, they will need the police to escort them accross the road. It's what we said all along. PAD are using old people to try to prop up an aging regime. So corrupt and despised that even the Army may change sides now (officially that is as most of the rank and file seem to vote with their feet when went in to act) or get rid of both parties.

The elite must somehow have kept the MPs in line with their disgusting refusal to debate the killings of 10th April. Hope we have somebody new in charge soon that will clean that hideous bunch of Democrats out.

The electorate have done it four times recently but they are still there. Privaleged, sneering and even more corrupt and nepotistic than the man they fear.

  5. He will do his masters bidding and has been usurped by Thaugsabum.

Nice of them to let the PAD rally go ahead on Friday though. No problems there, no incitements, hardly worth even mentioning (which they havn't) that is illegal.

I am glad it is going ahead as double standards will be paraded to the world again.

notice the Terrorist spin is dying down now. Didn't impress anybody outside of The Nation!

  6. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat

Hit the nerve again. Mention Patpong and no Bangkok Expat on here has ever been there and is not missing it.

So why you guys on here posting about death and destruction all the time, hoping for a killing spree?

The yellows are uping the Anti tonight because there is a chance of talks involving a third party. This is exactly what they don't want and as they think talks may go ahead, they obvisouly have to provoke violence quickly.

Sorry you don't understand the situation.

Any thoughts on what would happen if you fantasy of all the reds in Rachprasong were shot tonight? Try looking to the mutiny up north and the stopping of the train.

Think also why the Navy are callled in as well. Can't rely on the army and Isaan is not known for its Naval bases..... therefore more in the army.... well, you are the experts, think it through. Tell you what though. They will need to spend a lot of money on their aircraft carriers and ships if they think they are sailing up there to sort Khon Kaen out!!! :):D:D

Its good that the so called falang intellects on this site are now calling for mass shootings and Army coup. Go boys go. Donations to Mr Sondhi c/o inhiding house, nears Sadaams Bunker, undergroud. 56331 Because everybody knows he helped start this

  8. Chamlongs slipped the leash again. Must be feeling the cold chill of no publicity recently. Threatening outright violence and mayhem on the streets and setting out to break the SOE with the sole intention of confrontation.

At least the Redshirts have an adjenda. What have PAD got, The usual reference to "saving the monarchy" and that's your lot folks.

What he forgets is that during the PAD seige, the Police gassed and ran them out of the area by themselves and would have routed them for sure if the Army hadn't come to their aid. Something the combined army and police couldn't do the other saturday. Given that the Police will firmly stand against the PAD again, he must be hoping to draw in the Army.

Is this the voice of reason the country is waiting for? He can only be hoping that so many of his PAD flock are slaughtered that the Army have to step in..... or arrest him and his lackey Thaugsabum.

Surely, these are the two most disruptive and divisive characters at the moment. Shouldn't they be obeying their own rules? Probably not, as the rules they set are only for stupid people, which they aren't :):D

The yellow AGENDA is simple - "Let us get on with our life."

You continually make idiotic statements - the highlighted one is a gem.

Your knee jerk trumped it. Let us get on with our lifes so long as we are never able to be voted out. Is getting on with their lifes involves organising a legal mob, thats up to them, but don't expect the media or intelligent commentators to miss that.

What I do MATE, is continually get your collective goats by pointing out many simple things that you and other PAD followers on here have never read up on, imagined or tried to understand. The more you post, the less we know that you understand.

Why not try a considered post instead of regurgitating your masters voice.

Military shot the Japanese as well. Why not get some background on it.

Very interesting reading on a website that is probably monopolising news gathering in Bangkok at this time. An army train also appears to have been held up as well.

  9. Propaganda backlash alert.

Damage to Thailand image might be more soon.

Abhisit and Suthep going into panic mode ?

Being reported now that forensic reports say the Japanese camera man shot dead WAS SHOT BY THE MILITARY SIDE.

Panic for Mark ahead - spin coming ?

You spin me right round baby right round.... Where was the report. Better see it quick before its banned.

On a related issue the good Dr Khunying on the CRES should be a good thing. She does have the confidence of most and if they involve her, I think most will accept what she says.

  10. The PM listened and offered elections in 9 months from Now which was very fair. If the minority red shirt protestors had just accepted it. It would have been over last month.

But NO that was not good enough they must have elections within days. Well that's not quite how it works in politics and the agreement for elections in 9 months was fair.

Got to the live ammunition stage now. Well "Som Num Na"

You missed out the fact that the coalition parties have asked for elections in 6 months.

You also missed out the fact that the Democrat party are facing very serious corruption charges and the EC have called for their dissolution. The Democrat party spokesman said in a television interview that the Democrats would fight the charges. When asked how long that fight/appeal would take he said "9 months."

He also missed out (because they didn't bother to find out) that they are trying to change the election districts, the constitution and appoint whoever their paymaster wants as next army chief.

This is not about Thaksin. He is a conduit for all the bad feeling from this oppressive regime that has been in too long. The Democrats as proxies are trying to extend the regime's existance as expected. The Elites put a lot of money, influence and time into getting Thaksin, Samaak and Somchai out, amending the Election Law and putting their man (Abhisit) in.

OK agree to 9 months with no changes to any of the above and they would accept.

  11. Chamlongs slipped the leash again. Must be feeling the cold chill of no publicity recently. Threatening outright violence and mayhem on the streets and setting out to break the SOE with the sole intention of confrontation.

  12. In what reality are soldiers supposed to die when being attacked by weapon wielding maniacs and not respond to defend themselves? I totally do not understand the people criticising soldiers defending themselves, the red shirts have been given soooo much leeway it is ridiculous. In most other countries you go at it with the police and military with lethal force and you are immediately put down.

You are wrong. Often the army can be overrun by the people as you recently saw in Kygystan. Further back, the most notable countries that disprove your statements was pretty much all the former eastern block countries with their revolutions.

The position of the Red camp (I can't believe I am explaining this to you, but hey, its raining and I can't get home) is DEFENSIVE the Army will not be attacked by this structure and the only danger is poses is if somebody runs their stupid self into it. It's been on TV all week so one would need to be off ones trolley to get impaled on it.

But, that all part of the game of PAD posting. Just trot out any old thing.

Keep trying though, some of you are getting the hang of it..... just

  13. If Anupong is wise he choses the red shirts and refuses to shoot on demonstrators, Anupong could get rid of Abhisit before Abhisit gets rid of him. Anpong could end up in the international court of justice for crimes against humanity if he really give the order to shoot. abhisit will end up with a European arrest warrant if one single person complains thanks to his British passport.

    True.

Anupong has been around much longer than Abhisit as well. He lost face by letting such a numpty in after the coup.

The Coup could have been a time to level the playing fields, hold fair elections and get the Elite appointed Courts out of the political arena. The BBC at the time referred to it as half-sail democracy! Strong praise indeed.

This time, it will be different. Even if Anupong decides to act in favor of the Elite, it will be the last time. The next step will be an all out civil war which nobody wants and only Anupong can prevent.

Arrest Thuagsabum as a start. Things will quieten down when that little fascist is muzzled. Has he ever shown the Dems and the Elite in a bad light.

  14. The red shirt leadership seems remarkably quiet.

I sense a move towards 'backing down'. Now we may see some more realistic proposals for the end-game.

    Now they want to negotiate...

BangkokDan: Reuters reports red shirts open to talks to avoid crackdown

Hopefully that is true. And the government response should be "All Red leaders with warrants turn themselves in. All protesters leave within 24 hours. Elections in December, providing the country remains peaceful".

And all the bits that you don't understand.

    No army re-shuffle

No changing the election districts and constitution to favour the Democrats chances of getting elected.

You PAD are so smug in your propaganda about this being about Thaksin, that you never bothered to read the issues, less did any of you try to understand them. The Democrats need to do both of the above to have any chance of surviving in the medium term.

You are just propaganda tools along the lines of Lord Haw Haw in the 2nd world war. He spouted of in high class intelligent terms about the situation. Just as some of you try to couch your rhetoric in educated terms.

  15. Thai "red shirts" open to talks to avert crackdown

BANGKOK (Reuters)– 22 mins ago – Thai anti-government protesters occupying an upmarket shopping area of Bangkok said on Wednesday they were open to talks through a third party to prevent bloody clashes with armed troops threatening to forcibly evict them.

The protesters, supporters of ousted former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, said a crackdown was imminent and they were now willing to reconsider their demands for a snap election as hundreds of armed troops massed in a nearby business district for a third day.

"We are open to talks to end the crisis, but not with the government," one of the "red shirt" leaders, Jaran Ditapichai, told Reuters in an interview. Kwanchai Praina said he would propose during a meeting of the group's leaders that they consider a three-month timeframe for Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva to dissolve parliament.

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20100421/ts_nm/us_thailand_129

    ---------------------------------------------------

Additionally, Kwanchai is the infamous leader of the violent Love Udon Thani group. Six months ago he was essentially kicked out of the reds, but it's interesting to see he is a major player again amongst them.

"We are open to talks to end the crisis, but not with the government," one of the "red shirt" leaders, Jaran Ditapichai, told Reuters in an interview

Who are they going to talk to about ending the Crisis, themselves?

    You really do know squat.

They have again outmanouvered Thaugsabum. He is screaming hysterically for death of the reds, along with the PAD falangs on here.

Now the Reds offer talks, he can't attack as then the army are re-igniting the issue. And the Army are hoping this will be resolved with talks. There are more falangs on here want bloodshed than their are Thais wanting it on the street. This is because you are closeted in you nice little offices and bedrooms far from the trouble.

You yellows been screaming for blood for 6 weeks now.

Can some of you please think before you post.

  16. so what is the govt going to do?

You don't seem to have grasped yet that the Government is not running the Country.

The powers behind the scene have seen Abhisit as the blancmange he is and have put Thuagsabum and Anupong in charge in everything but name only.

They are doing as much as they can as the Army (who have been around longer than either of these two factions) are raising above it as much as they can and not engaging in a killing spree. As much a fact as anything else is that many of the Army conscripts are from the North and red at heart. And forget your fantasy about Southern Troops doing it. There are not many of them, they are as divided along ethnic and religious lines and as unreliable. Look at the map of Thailand and see how the population are spread accross the country. Notice how much of the Country is NORTH of Bangkok and how little is south.. AND how the south is divided and in the middle or a major armed struggle.

You have to be sure when you give the order to fire that the firing takes place in the direction you want!! I'ts just as easy for rank and file troops to put a bullet in a top brass leader as it is in a protester. Few of your fellow Isaan friends shot up and the watermelon troops might have a touch of the red mist descending.

We can view hundreds of posts on here about Thai's when they get angry. They don't stop, listen to reason or back down. This is why the sane voices (including the Army) are calling for the politicians to sort it out.

If the Army act, it will be a coup and they will all be sent to bed with no supper to await the date of the next attempt at democracy. Can't see the Army propping this Elite up for much longer. If they rescue them this time, things will change.

    ANOTHERPETER.

You don't seem to realise that workers here are paid so little as to be almost irrelevant. The poor are used to it and life goes on outside Bangkok. It's just a few hi-so areas affected. Sorry, mate, but Bangkok is but a part of a larger Country called Thailand.

  17. Nero fiddles while Rome burns... I'm getting the hel_l out of here.... the sh*t is about to hit the fan...

    Good luck on your travels.

Please keep in touch and let us know where in the world is half as good a place to live in as Thailand.

Only the businesses and the elites affected here. People still great, weather, beaches. All's well with the world and this is just a forum and the policits will work out, or we will have a coup.

It'll be ok in the long run.

  18. There might be an easy way out of this mess for the Reds:

Step 1. Jatuporn and his fellow MP's from PT finally start to do their real job (that will be the hardest part..) and call for a censure debate.

Step 2. They win the censure debate (should be easy since they claim to have the backing of a vast majority of Thais or any number that Dr. Weng says. Furthermore, the current government is supposedly the most evil ever). Before the censure debate they can choose the new PM or more likely, let Thaksin choose him.

Step 3. Their first act as a new government will be to dissolve the house and have new elections for Parliament (that's the only thing they want isn't it???)

If it is so easy why doesn't this happen???????????

Having alleged public backing is not what it takes to win a censure debate.

    It takes verifiable facts that the government has done or not done something either;

so badly or illegally that it loses support of it's COALITION Parliamantary PARTNER votes.

    A parliamentary vote of non-support.

So The Deputy PM sending in the Army with live Ammo resulting in 24 dead is not really in the category of an event that needs more looking at? Remember the Army didn;t want to do it and were ordered and co-erced into it.

If they are not careful they are going to get Newin as PM in the next few years. Don't imagine Abhisit can control him.

No soldier in most all armies is ever issued a gun without at least a few live rounds.

They may have predominantly plastic or dummy rounds for use, but in worst case, such as what happened,

having a weapon and the inability to actually USE it, is a death sentence for the man carrying it.

No commander expects this of his troupes.

All 23 dead did not come from the riot troupes guns. Most were killed by long distance rounds.

So what ammunition that was issued to the riot troupes is not the really big issue anyway.

This censure argument is wishful thinking as a way to bring down the government.

It is a way for PTP to howl like mad dogs in Parliament for the day.

We also know the Dems coalition still holds. So a PTP censure debate just a waste of air as usual.

It is not a waste of air. It gives the people of Thailand and the World the opportunity to see who is lining up with who and, more importantly, how they justify propping Thaugsabum and his sidekick up on live TV.

Who knows, once they are in parliament and out of the control of their masters, some of them may even do the right thing and force an election.

The MPs got a lot of coverage on Thai TV last night, and I think many are hoping this will be resolved politically.

Anyway, as regards unemployment, if the reds as you maintain are paying 500 baht per day to their supporters, that must be good for the economy. If their employers in the Bangkok treat them so shoddily by laying them off, they could easily find employment the adjoining sois.

Unlike the rural poor who have plenty of work but don't get paid for it. But, for the Bangkok elites, they don't normally have to consider this in their merry go round of shopping, malls, beautician, brand name goods, skytrain, maids etc wont think about this. Must be dreadful to have all these hicks in town.

  19. Reading is fundamental .............
Government spokesman Panitan Wattanayagorn said that 63,601 workers were temporarily out of work due to the closure of 13 hotels, five department stores and 30 bank branches.

    Sure is.

If the elite (you must be elite to own Bank, shopping center or hotel in That area, can just lay off workers on the spot, it show something terribly disturbing about how they regard their staff.

They can just stop paying them? Can I just stop paying my staff? Course I can't, they would take me to the cleaners... and rightly so.

So, they are either untouchable when it comes to poor treatment of staff, or they are trying to promote unrest and trying to set their staff against the redshirts.

Not only is reading fundamental, digesting and thinking is also.... but nice try. Why not try a couple of lines of smart alecism next time?

You always seem to ignore the fact that soldiers died too.

Everything I have seen so far has only shown soldiers shooting after they were hit by grenades or gunfire from the reds.

The army were sent in to clear the protests with batons and riot shields, with live ammo for self defence.

Can you imagine how many soldiers would be dead now if they didn't have something to protect themselves?

I can imagine how many would be dead if they hadn't gone in heavily armed. NONE :)

Perhaps if Thaugsabun or Abhisit did something really bad like avoid some tax through a loophole there would be cause for a coup.

Thaugsabun is still at it. Ordering up a mob on the street to attack taxis etc. Totally unaware in his blind rage, of the hypocrite the whole world (outside a few PAD on here) see him for.

They have never done anything to resolve this politically which is why the Army are standing around instead of doing their bidding (killing) and shoring them up. A few talks, then arrest warrents and armed attacks ordered, (but only half heartedly carried out) then threat, hotels stormed, assassination attempt on Arisman.

Up to you what you think, but if you think two mobs on the street is better than one, and if you think one should be subject to arrest warrents whilst the other is protected by the army and allowed to stage attacks, thats your opinion. Noticably the Army rescued the red guy last night and let him go!!! Divided loyalties again?

The smug horse analogy that they used regarding the Army last year lacked one well known proverb that has proved true over the centuries. Regardless of who the jockey is, who owns the horse, somebody has to feed it and clean the shit up after it. Not the elites me thinks!! Also, as Thaugsabum proved when he ordered the killing spree, you can lead this horse to water, but you can't make it drink!

Tuagsabun could be the fall guy here, he has the blood on his hands because Abhisit is only the stooge and obviously not riding any horse. If the Army locked him up, this could have been resolved more quickly.

  21. There might be an easy way out of this mess for the Reds:

  22. Thaksin, IMHO should drop this and concentrate on more serious business.

I know it's all about money on both side, but if he wants one last chance to make a difference, he should take the hit, land in Chaing Mai and march on Bangkok.

I, like many, am not a fan of his, but he is better than what is on offer from the other side. That being a lifetime without a valid vote and an unaccountable elite robbing the country blind for another generation.

PS, is that what I think it is on his head?

  23. Jerome Allaim, a 34-year-old expatriate Frenchman, still reckons Patpong is "certainly the nicest place to find girls in Bangkok" even though troop deployment "doesn't impress".

:D:D Imagine putting your name to that call :D:D .

Seriously, it takes all types :)

most of the girls guys marry look like they worked patpong :D:D:D

except the ones that married hi so gals :cheesy::clap2: (nana and cowboy girls)!

So, you've described my wife, what does your wife look like?

Surely you know that all Bangkok Expats married white skinned, rich, ex models, who own shops, have their own money and whose family are top army generals and police. These working ladies support their puny falang husbands, who are scared of darker skinned (and most other) women and are scared to move away from Sukhumvit.

Thats why all these kept falangs work as TEFL teachers for 30k a month and pay 15 - 20k a month for the most rancid little apartments.

Gingging. Stick with what you know and leave the news posts to those that have seen Thailand.

  24. Bears out what we say about the Bangkok yellow loving expats.

I checked two threads on here, one about the Red shirts announcements and this one. Views for the red shirt so far is 1390 and views for this one is 3035.

Shows where the priorities lay when 3000 people jump in to have check if there lifestyle will be affected.

So what's your reason for reading it? Checking if your lifestyle will be changed or "research"?

Myself, I was disheartened with the endless rhetoric on the other threads and needed a change.

I've never been to Patpong, but after the end of the current crisis (it will end, but I don't know which way) I might have to visit with the wife to discuss this areas women over a few beers as we have already done with "Cowboy".

Sorry I didn't explain clearly enough.

I checked the stats on the clippings page and noticed how het up you were all getting and commented on it. It's an observation often made down the years.

For example, all the posts regarding prostitute round ups, Visa on Arrivals, alcohol free days, Illegal companies etc. are the biggest pull. When I see any of these posts now, I automatically look at the number of reads it is getting.

Look now on the list. There is one about prostitues being cleared off pattaya beach. 21,000 hits!! Thats more than any of the posts on the page apart from the locked post about rally updates, which obviously, most of us look at everytime it is updates.

    I rest my case.
