They might view such as a threat to the non-competing tobacco monopoly. And....any decisions made by officialdom has little, whatsoever, to do with health, safety and well being. That's not what they do.

What many forget is that the most annoying and frustrating corruption comes by way of the local level [tambon, amphoe, provincial], where govts, policing and independent mafia types have their way - always overlooked by the press and the consciousness of most. They make the national government jokers look angelic. I believe, if we were to start anywhere with a dreamy reformation practice - it should include localities above all.......any such justice will trickle up. Maybe.

I surely can appreciated Khun Thanathorn's lust for life and getting out and about, but shouldn't he [as a key player] be assisting and helping to design the coming revolution during this fragile time? Need to strike when the opportunity lends itself. I realize that he's been summoned by the recent court cases several months ago......but he hasn't been forced into exile. Noted, that he's been very quite this last year.......as are his political cohorts.

Have to ask yourself....how long can they keep up this charade until it burst by the will of the people. A mass rebellion at hand.
