THAI sees losses narrow as tourism picks up
zzaa09 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News Headlines
Alas......Thailand is the only SE Asian country [even broader Asia] that hasn't adjusted and loosened up it's immigration/visa policies for the times. Applies to the tourists variety as well as the long-stay or resident type. None of the mounting bureaucracy and unnecessary suppressive schemes are truly unworthy. -
Could you afford to live in the UK compared to Thailand?
zzaa09 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News Headlines
The expected and ever present comparisons continue to be inane. Perpetually. -
All this whimsy chatter and rhetorical debate regarding free elections and change is rather moot, as the system here is traditionally geared by the steadfast manipulation of Ammat patronage, elite loyalty, high blessings/permission and military-inspired coups. That's all it's ever been about.......even during those brief eras of civilian government. No change, whatsoever, will ever come about until the traditional roots are severed completely. End of.

Thaksin Wins Case Against Revenue Department
zzaa09 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News Headlines
Yet, doesn't address her relative silence over the last few years, unlike her over attention seeking brother who is everywhere amongst the underground/alternative media [most of which he's designed and underwrites]. All the inane politics aside, I really don't think that she's comfortable in exile........being Thai, she misses her Thai surroundings. She's much less a sociopathic than her esteemed brother. -
You must be confusing a couple of well known opium/war lords with Pol Pot, as Phem was never offered an invitation to reside in northern Thailand nor ever came close to taking up residence there. Though, it was said that he did occupy a short term living situation on the borderlands [Sa Kaew and Trat] back during those turbulent and brutal times.

Your 20% conveniently omitted the most influential entity and it's cult like power and following. All of which can be commonplace among analyst whom truly lack the understanding of how things really function here........and how all this has operated for quite some time. -

....and what of the always lovely Yingluck? Keeping a very low profile over the last few years. Perhaps there's a hidden agenda to sneak her in the back way. -

Now if the world could only convince the U.S. to take on the same moral principles. Looking in the mirror for a start, as such applies to human trafficking.
