  1. The new MoE ASEAN NES (Native English Speaker) program has already had the rules relaxed for school's employent of foreign teachers. The 10,000 baht monthly NES subsidy and 5,000 baht monthly NNES subsidy has certainly got the ball rolling. Great to see. The TCT was certainly making things very difficult with their FT requirements. It was a very uncordinated effort.

  2. There's a group of hard working teachers studying together to pass the 4 TCT (Teacher's Council Thailand) exams. They cooperate and share their information at the free member website forum, thailand teaching dot asia. They are so well informed and abreast of things that some people believed that they may even have had a TCT contact coffee1.gifclap2.gif .

  3. This ain't the first time this has happened in this area. Remeber back in 2006 when the Canadian teacher was killed,

"Several bomb blasts tore through three department stores in Thailand Saturday, killing a Canadian man and at least three other people.

The explosions from six homemeade bombs hit a major commercial area in Songkhla province, called the Hat Yai business district, on Saturday following an earlier peace rally in an area of Muslim insurgency in the south.

Canada's Department of Foreign Affairs identified the Canadian as Jesse Lee Daniel.

Thai police described him as a 29-year-old teacher, but one news report put his age at 35. His hometown has been identified as Trenton, Ont. "

  4. ''For your truck I recommend the 3K TX790. ''

Ok, what brand?? and assume that the 790 indicates 79 ah??? and 3k = 3,000THB

    3K is the brand

    TX790 is the model.

    It the 100 amp/h model

The regular model is the NS100 but its only 70 amps.

I've tried many brands before and the 3K is the only brand that lasted me over 2 years.

The brand is heavily gaining reputation and their prices are very good compared to others.

The GS and yuasa brands never made it that far. I went through these brands quick.

I have never had a battery last more than 3 years in BKK.

One brand I do not recommend is the Bellco. They suck and are overrated meaning their 70 amp models only are tested to be like 50.

Realizing this thread is over 3-years old, however, understanding that car batteries haven't changed a lot since then. I'll add that I just purchased a 3k ns100, marked as 75 amp, for 2400 baht. I hope that it runs well for the next 5-years, at leastjap.gif

  5. I think you'll find that most "agencies" are actually language schools. Language school employees are usually paid per job, i.e., daily or by the hour or period over the duration of the 'job', therefore they are not covered by the same labour law rights as a full-time employee would be. I think you'll find that whatever is written in your emloyee/employer contract will apply. If it says unpaid sickdays, then unpaid sick days it is.

  6. Here, in BKK, a workmate fell on hard times (after being laid off he didn't even have dosh for a taxi home), so I loaned him a few thousand baht. Now, 6-months later down he's back up on his feet, but do you think the Cheap Charlie will even acknowledge his debt? <deleted> he will.
