Lived here for a year prior to moving the family to Chiangmai, was satisfied and happy...... aside from the roosters at all hours of the night.

After 9 years and a growing family, we are just completing a new house back in Issan, a "Falang" house. Don't know if I will be happy, only time will tell but so far the wife & kids are happy and I guess that is what counts. Will still live in Chiangmai but now the family has a place when we return to Issan while the kids are on vacation.post-21996-1236423436_thumb.jpg

Yes, building my own pond so the wife can fish, next is the Khlong for security purposes (If a thief can swim with a TV on his back, he can have it, no problem!).

    nice looking house......

  3. About 3-4 years ago I saw a farang busking outside the Pattaya Klang entrance to Carrefour.

He was playing a guitar and had a cup in front of him with some coins and bills.

Couldn't believe my eyes! I remember thinking to myself: How long will it take before the BIB come and get him?

Only saw him that one time.

a rare sight alright ......pity for them

  5. The Sky Car is a vertical takeoff and landing vehicle. So, that means that you should be able to park it on your balcony, and go directly to your destination from there.

I say about 15 more years until the flying car is readily available.

There are now functional jetpacks and wings

this would help beat the bangkok traffic alright

  8. If you have been coming on holiday to Thailand for 30 years (you stated in a rect post that your Thai wife lived with you in Europe for thirty years) it's nice to stay outside the expat type places and visit the "real" Thailand.

For those of us that live here on a long term basis it's good to hit the expat type places once in a while, even once a month, to get back to our roots.

To say that you would never go to lower suk/ KSR is, as Oxford Will pointed out is like some miserable old get in 1960s saying they would never go to Soho or Carnaby in London.

    Geekfreaklover,

I really don't have to go lower suk/ KSR, simply because we have the same in my home town Antwerp with the same type of Thai girls and many other nationality's.

In my younger day's (some 40 years ago) I was a notorious member of that scene, so I saw and experienced at all, and not only in my home town or country but all over Europe :o , so I'm not that easy to be trilled anymore.

Therefore I would find it rather sad that a man my age has no other way's than to spend his time in places like that. He can only make a fool of himself over there. When I was young my friends and I make jokes about them, so I know how foolish I will look, the same way as the 60 year old's who are walking or sitting on the breakfast table in an 4 star hotel somewhere in Thailand with a girl more than half their age, dressed in sexy mini skirts. Many times they even make grimaces on his back.

From previous topics I know that you're a man with some intelligence so therefore you will know what I mean when I tell, that you don't have to go to Nightclubs, brothels or massage parlours to find some additional happiness who will cost you nothing and don't create any hassles.

And I have a few old friends from back home, with the same background who are living in Thailand for more than 20 years, so with them I can discus politics and other issues, once in a while we have dinner with our wives in some good restaurant. So I don't need the expat scene at all. We even have an official International Flemish organisation (professional expat), sponsored by the Flemish government) who organize many activities and support, even there I'm not a member.

Maybe I'm not in for too much socializing to hear the same boring stories over and over again.

nice post honest ...im goin 36 soon but when im your age i think ill feel something like that, living the quiet normal life ..well i still hope to be enjoying myself at the thai bike weeks......i agree with you there is only so much you can take of those places sometimes.once in a while is good but not every night if you were living in thailand full time.....
