  1. I wonder if it would be useful for someone to put together a post on the details of buying and selling a motorcycle in Thailand and 'sticking'  it to the top of the motorcycle forum.

Save sifting through the search function.

Thinking of paper work required, process at DLT, buying or selling from another province, buyer and seller responsibilities, things one needs to know.

    Good idea?

The one story I personally know is of a Danish guy who came here, became broke and was sleeping in the Beach Road of Jomtien.

He would sleep in the beach and every morning and evening an old Thai lady would bring him food. Nobody ratted him and therefore he didn't go to jail

Now he has a job as a teacher and he's loving life.

Notably this old lady lent him 3000THB so he could buy some new clothes for his job and could afford to buy a bus ticket

Now he's a teacher. Priceless! As if a teacher's reputation couldn't get any lower.

IF you respect Thailand, you will continue to wear Black for one year.

IF you want people to think you actually care for the people here, one year

IF you want people to think you are a bad farang and couldn't care less about Thailand, any color

Seriously, it's only one year.  If you can't wear Black, GO HOME!!!!!

    lol

Now, I'm definitely not wearing black, nor going home.

Come on folks!  How difficult is it to wear a black shirt. Think of it as a plus to show respect to a visiting country. It will be easy to pack 3 or 4 black shirts/shorts/blouse. Don't have to worry about coordinating colors, etc. Show some respect for crying out loud! For myself, I am going back to Bangkok next month after having lived there for 3 years on retirement extension. and packing essentially what I described above. I have 2 pairs of black Levis, shorts, and 3 shirts.

If you are coming into to Thailand, then wear whatever you like. Nobody will care.

If you live here, you may want to throw on the occasional black shirt just for appearances.

If you choose to wear black for the rest of your life as an extended mourning period, no one will notice. They'll assume you're another farang 'Goth'.

Is this a real news item? There were no underage girls on premises. They were not working according to what was specified on the permit and the place of work was not correct either? What does this mean? Their work permit specified another location? Is that a big deal? What were they supposed to be doing? Only massage? Do any of those officials really take themselves seriously, if they thought this place was only promising massage services? Is this just a game for them? Livelihoods are at stake here.

But it's good promotion for the 2 massage parlours, as we now know the names and locations and the ages of the masseurs. All we need is the Facebook pages and we're right.

  6. " Due to increased congestion, police are suggesting that people avoid: Lat Phrao Road, Lat Phrao-Wang Hin Road, Chokchai 4 Road, Sutthisan Road, Kaset-Nawamin Road and Vibhavadi Rangsit Road as well as Srirat Expressway. "

So Pahon Yothin and Ratchada are OK?  Basically, If you live in areas bound by these roads, or heaven forbid, they are the only path between your location and desired destination, please stay home.

I was a member from the start. I remember it for the freedom of speech. Some of the great posters back then were Panhunger, DJ Pat, Neeranam, Poolcleaner, Bangkok Phil, LDMA etc. There were a lot of idiots too doing those stupid link word threads to increase their post count. There was even what are did you eat for breakfast or what are you listening to.

Nice to be remembered Johnniey. When I first got here in 2002, ajarn forum was something I turned to for information, then enjoyment and ultimately an avenue to meet people. It was great for a long time but it constantly splintered and the in-fighting became too much. A lot of the long term posters became the worst trolls. Bit sad. PC

Airlines squeezing every inch and dollar out of these seating arrangements certainly don't provide a comfortable environment for the traveler . When fuel costs were higher, the seats got tighter, baggage charges appeared  and ticket prices went up accordingly .

Somehow , the reverse never took place when fuel dropped and stabilized.  It's a free market economy, but I'm no fan of airlines ethos.  You would think they would at least include a jar of  Vaseline with every ticket sold.

Are you suggesting that as fuel prices increase, airlines pull their planes out of service and refit the seating to cram more passengers in?

    Bizarre!

It's tough.  I feel mostly for Brad even tho I don't know any details of what happened.  My guess is he got pissed off at one of the kids, probably the eldest boy, everybody was shouting. Brad tried to maintain his disciplinarian stance.  Jolie went hysterical in her mother-hen protective mode, and finally shouted, "that's it. It's over. You're out of my life!"    Even if that scenario is close to what happened, there are still other factors that would have led up to that drama.

I've been married in California to spirited women.  There are some differences and some similarities between what I went thru years ago, and and what Brad must have been going thru lately   I'm not a big fan of his, but I feel for what he may have been going through, as the man in the family, butting heads with a spirited wife like Jolie.

Wow we have a psychic on TV

  10. On a similar but different theme, the approach road to Victory Monument, or more precisely, the overpass bridge at Samliam(sp) intersection on Rajwithi has newly painted red lines. Victory Monument has a number of hospitals and is used daily for emergency ambulance services. With the horrendous traffic jams here, I always feel sorry for the unfortunate occupant of any ambulance trying to get to a hospital in a hurry.

For most of the day, the bridge is gridlocked while the drivers wait for the 5 minutes cycle of traffic light changes. Big problem for an ambulance in a hurry, well the patient inside, really.

So the Transport dept have devised a cunning plan with a new lane created in the centre of the road and delineated in red with a while circle and red cross every so often to show the purpose of the new lane.

I carry a parasol with UV-proof lining when I go out for a walk in the sun. A while back some European guy in Jomtien told me I looked like a woman carrying the parasol. So I asked him if he thought that men were somehow immune to skin cancer so they didn't need to take any care to protect themselves from the tropical sun, or perhaps he thinks that a few nice scars where you've had carcinomas cut out is a sign of manhood and virility? Some people are just plain dim-witted.

Don't be so hard on yourself
