Office Mate next to Baan and Beyond by Central Airport has a good selection

Thank you for the replies, Ubonjoe. I will try to exchange copies with scans and get some documents with signatures that way, won’t be originals. I will also try to get a house book before the completion of the new house, we have doors and windows and electric and water, so could work. Would you recommend that I try to get the 90 day report as the first step, and if told I need the other forms first then get the TM30? Or get the TM 30 first? Also, what about TM 47 and TM 28 and TM who knows what all else?

The house book is in Thailand with another friend.
-
Would these have to be original copies mailed to me from America?
-
And yes, I have been reading the current threads about 90 day reporting and understand the general situation.

In March I renewed my annual extension of stay based on marriage and bank deposit. After that, I moved to a new province. That move was long planned, and I expected our new house under construction to get a house book before my next 90 day report was due. That is not going to happen before next month. When the amnesty was announced, and then extended, I just have been waiting for the new address to get my paperwork in order. The complicating factor has been that I have been staying at a friend’s house and she (Thai American dual citizen) has not been in Thailand for 2 years. So having her sign a lease to register a new temporary address hasn’t seemed to be an option. Now I am supposed to show up at Immigration in person before the end of the month to do a 90 day report. This would be in Chiang Mai, or possibly in Fang. I would welcome constructive suggestions as to how to best handle my situation. I am willing to wade through the expected critical And off topic posts that this post will generate, hopefully Ubonjoe and some other posters will help me understand what my best options might be.

Excuse me sir but I think there is a flaw in your logic or should I call it your assumption.
Where in the reports does it say that there is only 3 ten wheel trucks per day transporting garbage?
It has been reported that this vessel only had three trucks full of garbage and a pickup truck as cargo. That surprised me because there are literally thousands of trucks full of trash at the Samui landfill. While you are correct that many more than 3 trucks a day might be currently hauled away by ferry, and that I did not consider that possibility, trash mountain is very likely still more Matterhorn than molehill.

So 100% less island tourists means no difference in daily island waste?
I see.
You clearly have no idea of the history and volume of Samui’s trash problem, and don’t see. The lives lost in this sad incident are the story, trash mountain is another story.

Maybe due to the dearth of tourists on the island, your 'trash mountain' isn't quite of Himalayan proportions and there's just not that much garbage that needs to be moved daily?
The trash mountain as of Jan 2020 wasn’t going to change much . 3 ten wheel trucks a day wouldn’t slow down this month’s garbage, much less the accumulation from when incinerator stopped functioning.

Would make sense to have garbage scheduled at night. With a trash mountain growing ever upwards and lots of money to be made shipping it to the mainland, why would they have only three 10 wheel trucks on a car ferry that can hold more? That is why I suspect it to be some special category of waste.

Three 10 wheel trucks and two pick up trucks according to Thai source. Not a full ferry and not during regular hours. Seems odd. Perhaps medical waste?

Bought some fill dirt from local rock crusher. Was their cheapest off grade, dust and bigger pieces. Their main product is a bluish colored gravel. The fill dirt is black when damp and grey when dry. I’m guessing it’s basalt. Anybody familiar with this? And is it a useful soil amendment if it is basalt? Seems promising looking at the studies I could find on line. Thanks

Would be very happy to get some starts next time I’m in town, will DM later.

Wasn’t ‘seawalking’ banned last year?

Tomatoes may be best in cooler months. It also may be necessary to cover with the fine white mesh screening to prevent white fly and fruit fly attacks. Can be done For each plant or a whole row. Not needed until color starts to change. Cherry and plum tomatoes seem much more resistant, no need of cover. This is based on experience in another tropical place, got very good quality in greenhouses. Peppers I’m just now trying, fingers crossed! Recommend full sun for both.

Saweng Optical has a real optometrist. Check with him.

Normally I see quite a few, none this month. So must be a quite limited schedule.

Fun to read this sincere if somewhat contentious (perhaps not so contentious by TV standards) thread. I have my own dietary approach honed by 44 years of study including going back to a mainstream university for a Bachelors degree in Human Nutrition. Many people would consider me a health nut and I don’t eat red meat. The only reason I mention this is to say even if you consider yourself a picky eater, Auf de Au German Buffet, which I stumbled onto, has such a variety of choices and such a very low price that almost any kind of eater will be able to find something they enjoy, especially if they don’t mind indulging their sweet tooth once in a while. I mostly post this because like all the posters complimenting the owner of Pun Pun Guesthouse, I found the owner and staff at Auf de Au German Buffet to be extremely nice and very kind and would like to support them, especially in these hard times.

Saw them in Chiang Dao with a Thai friend from Hang Dong who said he had never seen them before. There is a certain tree that grows by the waterside that they are associated with, at least in Southern Thailand.

Went to Live India on Lamai Beach Road several times with some Indian friends who live on Samui and enjoyed the food there.

We booked last minute with lots of luggage and rebookable flights. Wasn’t a bargain but not extortionate. If you have to pay for extra luggage at the airport, that will be extortionate.
-
We had documents ready but all they asked was where were we going. We had some food, brought some food, are having friends shop for us, and good for anybody, even in a not so big town have already had prepared food delivered several times.
No checking or reporting so far, at all. If we were totally disregarding isolation I’m sure it would be noticed. Puu Yai Baan (local village head would be one way to describe this position) drives by our driveway everyday.
Tessaban might be explained as municipal office of subdistrict (tambon).
PS - Phuket is the place people seem to be fearful about. Not a good idea to casually mention that you just came from there.

Just went there with a Budget car rented on Samui and dropped it off there. Budget much cheaper than Avis. Parts of that parking area can flood, and leaving it there a month might attract concerns by security or just mean returning to a dead battery or flat tire. Good luck

As you expected, Ubonjoe, wife was able to get a house book this morning. Wanted to check again on whether I need to do a form for change in permanent address. I thought that was different than the TM30? Also, which office(s) in Chinang Mai should I go to? Thanks
