What nonsense. He was obviously influenced by Islamic terrorism. Apparently, he was not under direct orders from ISIS, but his actions promote their agenda despite that.

Given that a stated aim of Islamist Terrorism is to divide societies by spreading fear and distrust - it seems your posts on anything relating to 'Islamism', 'Islam' or 'Muslims' also promote the ISIS agenda.

Braun himself was in a Nazi prison for two week, accused of siding with communists and sabotage.

Had he not obeyed orders he would not have survived.

It's so easy to condemn somebody 80 + years later without knowing what was really going on in those times.

Today I can say I am an anti fascist. Had I been born in Germany or Austria in 1915, I might have become a Nazi myself or an inmate in one of the thousand concentration camps. Who knows.

Judge not, that ye be not judged.

I recommend reading Hans Fallada "Every Man Dies Alone", that may be available to you under its other title 'Alone in Berlin".

I don't think you'll find a better explanation of the moral dilemma in which ordinary Germans found themselves after the Nazis took control.

We might all keep in mind that the Nazis came to power through an electoral victory and that much of the hatred being openly displayed here on TV would be very familiar in the campaigns leading to Hitler coming to power.

Von Braun did similar stuff, and the Americans welcomed him.

People who get to the top of governments generally feel they have the right to kill others, mostly they get away with it.

Tony Blair was responsible for 500,000 deaths, and nobody worries about him.

There are plenty of people in the UK and elsewhere who believe Blair should be tried at the Hague.

That it might never happen is not evidence that nobody cares.

  4. I suggest sitting in on a Condominium AGM in which most of the participants are 'Farangs' before you launch your idea of a 'Farang Moo Baarn'.

You'll find the lack of cooperation, back stabbing, bickering, crabs-in-a-bucket mindset and extremes of penny-pinching tightfistedness instructive.

I read all of these comments above and had to respond in kind:

A CCW is a mighty deterrent to the deranged gunmen who often target "gun-free zones" such as university campuses, cinemas, festivals, etc because they do not meet any resistance when they commit their crimes.  Paris, Brussels, Orlando, Nice, etc were such "gun-free" zones - and we all know what terrible things happened at each of these places.

Note: The new Texas law states a minimum age limit of 21 for a student to carry a CW on campus.  These are young adults by this age - not the feckless 18 year olds just coming into college..............

I gladly paid for the government required training courses, gun safety courses, practice range training (under a qualified instructor) for my college aged daughter (who just turned 20).  I would rather for her to be in a position to protect herself and not cower in fear, if, God forbid, some maniac goes on another shooting spree where she happened to be.

The world is a very dangerous place these days and the police cannot be everywhere and protect everyone, all the time.  Each individual must take on the responsibility of defending himself / herself

The training course in gun safety sounds fun, but a course in gun death statistics might have been more useful.

By buying your daughter a gun you actually increased the chance of her, or a member of her/your family being killed by gun fire.

We can now wait for the data to come in on gun related deaths at Texas colleges and universities to roll in.

I think its worth pointing out that since 2008 my income along with many others from savings was destroyed by the interest rate colapse, which seemed to be helping out a lot of young people to buy homes! In others words they were usung money that would have been mine in interest to fund the young. The young are now in debt and they wont be able to raise the interest rates to help us older prudent savers because the borrowers ( yes that includes the HMG) will find it very difficukt to repay.

It was tough when I was young and trying to buy but no one came to me with any help, no one suggested cutting pensioner income to fund me and I would not have expected them to, but then again maybe the powers that be are now looking at tax revenues abd think the young might be a better bet.

As far as the triple lock is concerned I am not surprised its being talked about, in the current climate it is good, but let us not forget the "allowance holiday" when we went several years of having no increases in that until the basic tax allowance caught up.

I dont think the pensioner has been treated that special over the last few years when you look at allowances, interest rates and the triple lock and that is particularly true if your pension is frozen.

If I had wanted to demonstrate how far out of touch pensioners are with the problems faced by the young, I could not have done a better job than your post.

"The manifesto contains a commitment to protect the triple lock. That commitment still stands," the spokesperson said.

But as usual, nobody mentions those many pensioners overseas, including in Thailand,  who don't benefit from the triple-lock even now ! ;)

Those who have not retired are currently watching the 'start' pension they will receive rise at a higher rate than wages, this is undoubtedly good news to the ears of people very near retirement, but not such good news for young people who are facing a growing gap between their income and the wealthier older generation.

My bet is on the triple lock not contenting for much longer.

"[You] need to read a bit of history," digest.... perhaps [you] won't then be so incorrect. The arguments you use were used by the post war Fabian progressives to deliver the west into a post war utopia, minus the cohesive glue [they] argued caused the past debacle. This the incessant post war push to a mythical fraternity.  comparing this process with natural evolutions of cultures is fraudulent

The fact is, "I doubt you have any understanding..." ...one was the natural but unfortunate evolution of a state and people the other contrived social engineering. The latter a conspiracy of 1/2 truths by failed communist victors, socialists, and one-worlders to impose by coercion a deliberate dissolution of a people. It was based entirely on theory, fiat...since it's never been done in human history.

=socialism couched in need or response. Crisis=Solution

Hard to see where 1. Forced cultural marriage as a solvent to prevent war is essentially the obverse of what they argue they oppose. It's morally different from nazism only in scale, not end results and 2. [You] might get a clue... that the natural evolutions of people's and states and cultures are equipped with the mechanisms of time, honesty, and water naturally seeking its own level. Comparing a melting pot society as London or New York as a snapshot in time of multiculturalism is disingenuous. This has been happening into antiquity. But this is NOT what is happening today.

Your choice to isolate a particular aspect of the UK and its people and associate England, it's people, culture and language with a dog may have appeared to you to have intellectual value but your entire lead up makes clear, you were building to insult, not some false intelligent observation. You've offered nothing correct above, and only slandered a people below. I doubt you "have a clue."

So I was wrong, Hitler and the Nazi's did not gain power via a democratic election.

    Except of course...they did.

  9. Baroness Altman is only voicing the opinions being expressed by many critics of the tripple lock, in particular those advocating a reballance of government spending in favour of the young.

This first challenge to the tripple lock has been kicked down the road (not absolutely defeated), it will return.

  10. The organisation I work for operates possitive discrimination in favour of Vetrans.

    Is that too unacceptable?

Really , you mean , your salary is paid from charitable , handouts from the Goverment

where you results are not monitored , or measured . a plum job , on the gravey train, hey .

As a UK taxpayer , i reserve the right to know the name your organisation , wasting tax payers money ,

With all your posts , you obviously , are not working , in the real world .

My local MP , will be informed .asap .

In another thread you've boasted about how you dodge taxes.

So less of the the bleating about how other people's taxes are spent.

  11. The populace of Britain is just a bit more pissed off as they've watched their wages either going down or stagnating - partly as a result of companies finding it easy to employ cheap, unskilled labour from abroad.

    {qoute ]

Reluctantly i have to visit Britainistan soon , to collect rent on my properties , in cash of course .

Why pay tax and support immigrants , and the lame and and lazy , and charitable organisations .

Actually , i feel more like a foreigner , when i visit my, once called homeland

    . Maybe , i am the wrong colour wai2.gif

Well at least we know you commit tax fraud.

Something to keep in mind next time you are complaining about criminals.

  12. No, the airplane was still on the ground. It was before the flight started.

That's interesting. As I understand it, Muslims are required to pray five times daily. When I read your initial post, it seemed a bit strange. However, the sight of several Imams, presumably many in traditional garb, would have left me thinking there was some sort of gather in town. Not much to worry about there. It seems to me it would have been much more practical to pray prior to getting on the plane, thus probably raising additional eyebrows.

I was once of an Olympic Air flight landing at Heraklion airport in a thunder storm. Sitting in the exit row I was faced by the air crew strapped in for landing frantically crossing herself and praying.

Believe me, that was a lot more troubling than a couple of Muslims praying before take off.

  13. In all fairness, I expect the growth in numbers (within the database) over the period is due more to the ease of obtaining current reports.

Going foward the dataset is likely to become more consistant.

I think the database has the potential to become a very useful resource fir the analysis of the safety of foteigners in Thailand.

Odd some take such exception to it?!

  14. Many many months ago I wrote that the UK was a highly racist country, this was in the context of something other than Brexit and based on my personal experiences and thaose of trusted friends. Another very British poster took umbrage and accused me of not knowing the first thing about England and wondered if indeed I'd ever been there. To that poster, hello, it's wake up time:

    http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/brexit-racism-uk-post-referendum-racism-hate-crime-eu-referendum-racism-unleashed-poland-racist-a7160786.html

Not sure of your point. Of course Britain is racist, as are most other countries!

The populace of Britain is just a bit more pissed off as they've watched their wages either going down or stagnating - partly as a result of companies finding it easy to employ cheap, unskilled labour from abroad.

So they started abusing foreigners in the street, posting dogshit through letter boxes, and beating foreigners senseless because......?

  15. In the case you refered to, it has been discovered that he was killed by his Thai neighbor because he slandered and insulted his Thai neighbor's family on a number of public occasions.

It could have happened anywhere in the world.

Again. But, in 'any other country in the world' the perpetrator would have been found and brought to justice. Name just ONE case where any farang murdered by a Thai has seen any justice here? Just ONE. Christ ..

Pattaya double murder of two female tourists: death penalty

    Koh Tao murders: death penalty

Hua Hin Songkran gang assault of elderly British tourists: 2 years in prison

Farang-deaths.com shows the following homicide case count by year:

    2013 (2)

2014 (4) (including two Koh Tao murders)

    2015 (6)

    2016 YTD (11)

Note that farang-deaths.com lists homicides for all nationalities, not just Westerners. Burmese, Chinese, Kuwaitis, etc. are included in these numbers. The website has a disclaimer that their database is not complete, but the idea that foreigners are being murdered here left and right is inaccurate.

    1. You seemed to have missed the word 'justice', it is difficult to describe the death sentence handed to the two Burmese men on Kho Tao as justice for the two murder victims.

    2. Farang-Deaths.com clearly state their database is incomplete (incompleteness does not imply inaccuracy), they nowhere claim that foreigners are being murdered 'left and right', but they are providing a database of foreign deaths in Thailand, something that hitherto has not been available.

I take it you have no problem with farang-deaths.com recording and providing this data.

  16. Your teacher clearly arrived with an expectation of how she should present the lessons, this is almost certainly set by her employer. You've asked for a different lesson plan for which your teacher is not prepared, there is an expectation gap between you and your teacher.

You don't need to complain, you simply need to fix the expectation gap.

If its a possibility, go speak with the expat manager, explain what you are looking for (your expectation) and see what he can do to meet it.

Making a complaint to the teacher or about the teacher will not get you the result you want - lessons that meet your expectation.

    ----

If on the other hand you feel like you simply want to complain and get it all off your chest, feel free to do so. But then go find another language school.

I gave you a 'like' on your post Chiang Mai, but don't mistake that as a 'like the news you have linked to'.

The Brexit campaign used racism and xenophobia as a central message of their campaign, the resulting rise in racist abuse was predicted and has come about.

Over to the Brexiteers for their protestations of denial of any responsibility for the racism Brexit has unleashed.

  18. The HMRC rule is:

"You can bring some goods from abroad without having to pay UK tax or ‘duty’ (customs charges), as long as they’re for your own use".

So children will not be given an allowance for alcohol or cigarettes and you're almost certainly not going to be able to get an extra 'Rolex' through customs by strapping it to your 3 year old.
