  1. It's a bit naive to think

    'they' have to prove anything.

That's the common rule in Thailand, now the topic is the internet however it could be applied to everything, we take the risk, if it's not illegal and can improve other people lifes, for me it is worthed to fight for it, i don't want to live in a society where everybody think only about himself, what kind of world is that?

  2. But I guess you've never checked what they actually record? That little box with flashing lights can log (rotating) at most can store few megabytes of largely worthless information,

Well, better you start purchasing some better hardwares then laugh.png

I did check what my machines are doing, and i also decided to extend by a bit their capabilities too....

What you propose is leaving your house doors open at night because you've recognized the danger that you might get robbed with locks anyway, so screw any

    precautions

I still fail to see what did they rob from me, i mean, i have been doing this for years now, problems so far = 0 (zero)

Or if you live in ignorance, then live in greed too, dont run an open WIFI because it can make things slow for you..

Are we here maybe ignoring that you might be selling some security packages of some sort??? if you do, i am sorry but i am not interested, any decent router worth of his name will show you if any connections is using more bandwitch than it should and enable you to fix that with a couple of clicks, unfortunately you can't cure greeds (the me-me-me-only me syndrome) with the same ease....

  3. Thanks i appreciate it, sometime i am pervaded by that Don Quijote kinda feeling laugh.png

If you read some of my old posts, you will see that i would have more than one reason to deny at least a few of my neighbours of any sort of respect, however, i don't want the random passer by, his computer and his dog to be denied an opportunity just because of a minority (well, i hope they are a minority...) and also the rest of the neighbourhood (i cover an area of about 2KM), not bad for a semi-jungle zone.

We can have a better world if we start contributing to it ourself thumbsup.gif

  4. Well i will try to go on like this as long as it goes, internet in this time should be a right for everyone to have, if someone want to make troubles for somebody else, they will always find a way, then if you are innocent, there should be a way to demonstrate it.

It's like driving refusing to drive in public roads because there is a danger that others will tell you are the guilty one in an accident while in reality you are not...don't let the bad people to be a deterrent against your (legal) good intentions.

  5. Last hippy type farang i have seen was in Bangkok a couple of years ago, just before Soi Cowboy at that traffic light where 2 major roads cross each others, he was in his middle 20's and with longhis dark blonde hairs, he was asking for money and gave me the impression of being a druggie of some kind, when i did offer him something to eat, he declined the offer, so be it biggrin.png

  6. Your router should have an option where you can see whoever is connected at any times and also keep a log of the connections, what model and make it is?

I keep mine open, as long as i don't get penalized by this, i don't have problem in sharing it, as at the end of the month the bill will always be the same....

  7. Try to see how life from a different prospective from the one you have now would be, we are all different and everyone is living his very own life's adventure here.

Learn from others what it could make your life better, help others in having a better life too.

Find your balance with nature, try to understand it and you will see how fashinating just that could be.

Every one is unique and even the worse of the worst have some qualities, you just have to discover them and give them the value they deserve

  8. I see schools around starting local initiatives in making their students aware of "green issues" , some of you guys, are working as teachers here, why don't you do something similar showing how to enjoy yourself without the need of putting your/other people lifes in danger??

To make sure people don't turn their heads away after the first few words, you could use some of those funny cartoon thai styles instead of words...

Honestly, the increase in the violence and lack of responsability being showed by so many and the constantly higher power used in those water's propelled devices is really worrying...

  9. I don't know about any particular brands, but i saw in Tesco they are selling telephone chargers with adapters for the many different brands for less than 200 Bahts, to make a bridge with some of the internal wiring shouldn't take long.

But if you mean the actual socket, you can possibly find one from the millions scrapped vehicles you see parked all over the country for probably 20/30 Bahts, if you have a mechanic you trust, they might even give a free one to you, just have a look around.

With a bit of diy you can even create one by yourself too biggrin.png

  10. I am sorry that you had this sort of experience, however, unfortunately this SongKran it's a real battle with hundreds of real deaths and thousands of people in the hospitals, it's a bit of "fun" worth putting in danger human lifes??

Throwing water at people driving should be illegal, actually i think already it is, the most of the people always aims at the face of the other and taking by surprise, that's because they want to see something more consistent happening rather than just having someone wet.

Just yesterday i saw some kids in the street thowing with all their force, one of those metal bowls full of water at the helmet of a passing motocy, i mean, that guy got hit by a metal bowl but he just swerved a bit and continued riding as if nothing had happened, the kids obviously continued exactly in the same way, great eh?

My suggestion to you, and anybody else for that matter, if you really can't stop yourself from taking part in what "everybody else" is doing, at least try to do it with respect and more importantly, common sense!

To just sprinkle a bit of water to someone in an innocent way i guess would not have that same adrenaline running into you, but is way better than to put others and even yourself in danger methinks

  11. Any Thai national acommodating an alien must notify the authorities. At least it's not yet our responsibility.

Well, wait untill the first court judgement will be pronunced : "...yes your wife broke the law, but only because you, the farang, where here, if you, the "temporary basis farang" where not here, the law would not have been broke, so it's all your fault!"

I also believe that is a responsability of the person recognized as the home owner, wherever that means the thai citizen or the temporary basis foreigner

  12. foreigners on a temporary basis. I wonder what this means exactly.

Surely it can't apply to someone living here with that wording?

My understanding is, that as long as you are a foreigner, you will be considered as something temporary, it doesn't matter if you have been here 30-40 years in a row with no more ties with your place of origin, etc, you will always be considered a Non Immigrant....
