  1. Just before yesterday night, at about 10pm, i was riding my scooter on a fairly large road with 3 lanes + motocy small lane, all going in the same direction.

My speed was around 90/100kmh, at one point the road was really dark because the street lights were all switched off, on the right side of the first lane was a smaller motocy going at maybe 70kmh with 2 young men in their 20's without helmets, as soon i was to pass them over (i was on the motocy lane on their left), they close in to my side and i avoided collision just because of my fast breaking, no big deal, i take over again from the right side and this time they didn't try to crash against me.

About 30 seconds later, another young man of their age was walking on the white line of the motocy lane in complete darkness, i managed to not to crash against him but it was weird!, i kept going on my way, straight ahead for another 4-5 km, then U-turn, another 500m more or less and turned into a small village road, went into a gated "thai condo" enclosure and i spotted the 2 young boys again behind the gate looking at me but without saying anything at all, they followed me.....

I am wondering how many people out there are just waiting for a random person to kill/rob, be carefull guys!

  2. So he gave up and there's still a load of rubbish in their yard.

I have witnessed this many times myself, for many of them not throwing the rubbish inside the bin, even if it's just under their nose, it's something they have in their DNA.

I did even try to challenge some of them, the best answer you get is "mai pen rai", if the guilty ones are not just randoms but locals, playing the grumpy part seems to be effective, i couldn't care less if i am seen as a "jae lon" from the eyes of a sevage...

  3. Not quite accurate.

Are you arguing that the shortage of new born is a phisycal problem rather than a choice being made? laugh.png

Is a bit like saying that all the road casualties are caused by people just jumping on front of running vehicles....yes certainly there are a few, but in terms of statistics i don't think they are going to be considered as the ones with the more incidence....

One of the solutions that this country could take if there is a shortage of any kind in their workforce, it is simply opening that market to the people which are currently being denied that option by draconian laws which are bringing more harm than goods to either parts....however that option would have some sort of sense, so, my guess is it's not gonna happen....biggrin.png

  4. What about introducing a new subject at school, like "civic education" or some means to let hem understand that every action have a comsequence after??? seems that many people think that for whatever they do, it will just end up there and go back to stare at the universe.....

  5. Most European countries face a demographic nightmare, Japan is already in one. Immigration is required

Let me tell you something about this situation.......Most people in developed countries choose to not to have babies, not because they are unable to reproduce, but simply because they have received enough education to understand that given the many economical problems affecting us, it's not a good idea to put another individual into this mess...

While people less fortunate and more often than not without any form of standard education or self respect intended as we do in the west, have no problems whatsoever to start pulling out babies like a farming operation, they couldn't care less about the troubled life their babies will end up into, their only interest is to have some economical benefit into it.

They live as animals ammassed in dishumane conditions and dirty environments, with a fraction of the wage a local worker will command, i am sick of these injustices and the people trying to pass it as a necessity! they are human beins exactly as we are, exploitations is an evil, wild immigration it's is not the answer to the problem because it will only create more problems and injustices.....

  6. The "foreign diplomats" couldn't care less either - its just a pretense of 'doing their job'...

Given the number of public officials all over the world, just doing that, you have a point here, however, even if this was the case, it is still much better than covering it up and avoid others to be aware of it, the more people knows about these problems it means there would be more chances for these issues to be solved, with a big number of people involved, maybe someone it's going to find a solution by mistake...biggrin.png

  7. What does inspecting packages at the post office have to do with the recent bombings?

Incase Iran sends their first A Bomb here for testing.

....as long as they keep sending "Istak" to our local shop...i know i drink weird stuff laugh.png

    Edit:

and anyway, throwing and blowing up bombs in public, at a taxy for example, seems to be considered as a recreative activity by the local people in charge, rather than "terrorism"....what terrorism? cheesy.gif

  8. Last year i had some new credit card being sent from abroad as the old ones were expiring soon, i made sure for the parcel to be overly insured, so in case it got lost i would cash in and just celebrate the loss.....

The cards arrived safely, however, before to sign the postman paperworks that i received the items, i opened the parcel on front of him, inspecting that nothing had been tampered or already opened.

Everything was there and it was all sealed, so i signed for the receival, from the next month however things becomes, how can i say it? "unusual"....

My bill was 3 weeks late and i got it from a neighbour...the envelope had been grossly opened but the bill was inside, during the next few days i stopped the postman for a quick chat and i did ask how comes if in the previous 2 years he never missed my address, how something like this would happen now? he smiled and said "ok"....right.

I am still receiving all my bills late but at least they are not being opened...

  9. Foreign diplomats meet the thai minister of sport to talk about scams....i always thought that scams were so widespread over here, but i never considere it as a "sport" .....maybe that's what it is really biggrin.png

It's a good start that the matter is being addressed somehow anyway, i hope to see more of these sort of initiatives happen, possibly finding a solution for the basic human rights breaks that foreigners living here, either permanently or temporary have to sustain....

  10. " You can download the application form from the embassy website or collect one at the gate."

Yes you can download the application form from their website, but once you submit it to their staff, they will refuse it and ask you to collect a slightly different form from the bald guy at the gate, which keep the forms as if they are made of gold......did they update the form on their website? has anyone succesfully submitted a form downloaded from there? They were refusing them last year, i have a friend in KL right now, i will let you know if he will experience any not already quoted situation.

He didn't update his bank book last year (last updated an year earlier), was told to give copies of it anyway or his application wouldn't be accepted + a bank draft with 500 US Dollars on his own name, the application was succesful.

  11. Well, i am not 100% sure it was him, however, if it was, then i saw him last month without his bycicle walking on beach road alone in the evening, was looking as if he's having a really hard life, as if he was sleeping rough or something...

  12. I am now able to see the list without swapping wires all the times, what happened is that the gateway field on the Engenius for some reason was blank, these machines are always crashing, not saving data and whatever else, however at least now is showing me the missing piece of information which i promptly added again, so now it's all sweet, thanks all for all the suggestions and help

  13. Or if you have a smart phone, connect with wifi and get those many wifi tools that tell who what and where. I have a fun program that allows me to kick off anyone using a wifi network. (Ducking......)

Seriously, that may be your best bet.

Thanks for the suggestion, i am just browsing around to see what is currently available for my old Iphone 3G, i try to login on the Engenius but it doesn't recognize the password and keep asking for it over and over, while if i try to login on the CCTV i just get a white screen with the brand name of the

CCTV on the heading, i will let you know if i find something that works, however i find it rather hylarious that with all this computers paraphernalia available i have to rely on my already overloaded mobile phone

  14. Ever so slightly off topic, What are your experiences using IpStar as compared to using a mobile phone connection to get on-line using a computer? I have heard that with the IpStar you can get a weak connection because of clouds etc.

I live up country, in a valley with three mountains surrounding us. I us a signal booster for a mobile or dongle to get Internet on a laptop. I also understand that TOT charge 1600Baht a month for the IpStar system. So how reliable is the system and do you loose speed certain times of the year or when the weather is bad?

It improving but I have sometimes had a really slow internet connection these past 2-3 months and wondered if it's the floods or heavy rain or both? I know one guy who uses Ipstar in the next village, he sometimes gets pissed because he cant get a connection or it is too slow.

Yes IpStar is fine, it gets his up and down, especially during the heavy rains, but i don't usually give it much importance as the electricity will be totally gone just a few minutes after that :D

  15. I am using a satellite internet connection with the IpStar modem, which comes without a wireless connection, so i attached to it an EnGenius box, that basically add the wifi on the existing wired connection.

I would like to monitor whom is connecting to it, but to do that, i have to disconnect the IpStar modem, because otherways it will not show me the menu of the EnGenius box.

    The IpStar gateway is 192.168.5.100

The Engenius WiFi box gateway is 192.168.1.1 and requires to setup a static IP

Right now i am only able to use the internet wi-fi without been able to monitor the clients, OR, monitor whom is connected by disconnecting the IpStar modem from their common LAN switch, so, no internet.....

Thanks for any help in advance :)

  16. Well, as I see things these marines would need a work permit; seven underlings, get screened for syphilis and swim to the immigration every ninety days. How sick this all is - disgusting!

Just to get this out of the way. If they are invited work permits are not required and is covered under labor laws, specifically the below. I worked here in the military for a year and had now work permit and no passport but was completely legal. Military ID is all that was required.

    Exemptions:

    5. Persons who perform duties on missions in Thailand under an agreement between the Thai Government and a foreign Government or international organization;

Good to knows, so the military are spared from this requirement but only if there is a formal request.

So if we, normal people, want to help. all we have to do is join the army again and hope Thailand is going to ask for us, otherways we will all get arrested for helping....as they have already turned away the american military, maybe that is not going to work anyway....

  17. what scares me even more is this is the country that was contemplating nuclear power resources... my god can you just imagine the mess now if it had of gone ahead..

You are scared because you cannot understand how "science" works in Thailand, this is not "falang's science", it is "The THAI Science", not the same thing, so if they had it done, now we would have nuclear powered pla-duks spinning their fish tails at full speed to send back the flooding waters from where it came from, so no more floodings, and they even glows at night......but "you not thai, you-you cannot undelstand!"

  18. "There were two channels (in the Thai government)," the defense official told AFP. "One was saying 'Yes' and one was saying 'No.'"

I wonder which channel of the Thai government said no? I sure hope this fact is revealed.

Well, that looks like an improvement to me, as usually you get the same person telling you something and the contrary of it at the same time......honestly! :cheesy:

  19. This is absolutely absurd of the government to turn it ALL away.

No, you just have to see things from their prospectives, none of the people governing this country or any of their relative is exposed to the risk affecting a large part of the population, so, this choice of them makes perfect sense, if the military want to help then they should apply and pay for the right working permits for this privilege, otherways they would be breaking the current laws, don't they? ....

    Edit: spelling
