Foreign Tourists Filmed Fleeing Police Checkpoint in Phuket
It's not already April 1st, is it? I can't count the number of times I have seen police trying to pull (Thai) motorcyclists of their bikes when they don't stop.

Alcohol Campaign Targets Bangkok Restaurants During New Year
I've often thought of that, but it won't work as it means the police have to lift their fat XXXX and get out. There are 5 pub near us sharing a huge car park and I've seen cars (on our CCTV) crawl out at 3 am , sometimes hitting the gate. Just 2 or 3 police officers standing there could either earn a private fortune or make the police station wealthy.

Cannabis Shops Must Become 100% Clinics Under New Thai Law
Someone wrote that the new law was being ignored. These two shops have been open since it became legal to sell cannabis and now they have closed. You are right it may just be a coincidence, but let's see how many others close.

Cannabis Shops Must Become 100% Clinics Under New Thai Law
I noticed yesterday that at least 2 well established weed shops on Thong Lor have turned the key and today the shops were emmpty. So it's not being ignored.

New Thai Law Bans Alcohol Sales to Intoxicated Customers
So the law says that "the sale of alcohol is from 11 am to midnight" and sales to intoxicated people are forbidden. Does that mean that from now on we won't have drunken, screaming girls leaving the pubs next door at 4 am?

Hang on, hang on! Most of the bars around here are partly owned by cops. Who's going to fine them?

Thai Firm Sparks Outrage with Harsh Penalty for Party Absence
Absolutely! My work place had meetings, seminars, courses outside working hours and often on public holidays. Severe illness with a doctor's certificate was the only way out. When I worked in the west, all meetings, seminars and courses were mainlt held in working hours.

Thai Firm Sparks Outrage with Harsh Penalty for Party Absence
I disagree. Mt workplace had very very similar ideas. We were "invited" to parties, "meetings? (social events) and if we refused , they wanted a valid reason. The only validity they accepted was illness with a doctor's certificate.

Thailand Faces Calls to Publicise Updated Entry Rules
I agree with you, but recently when I extended my visa, I booked a time online. The officer wanted a hard copy of the booking. Crazy!

Thailand Faces Calls to Publicise Updated Entry Rules
My brother just arrived from UK. They didn't want to see either online or hard copy. They said they could see in the system.

Thai Vendor Fined for Allegedly Overcharging YouTubers
Uhm quite common here. Walking around Bangkok yesterday with two friends from Europe, we had to ask the prices at most places. When we checked online prices, it seems that many of the vendors were quoting 3 to 5 times the online price. So negotiation skills are a must. Either that of, if you have time, order online.

Thailand to Lift 2–5pm Alcohol Ban to Boost Sales, Deputy PM
Flip flop! Let's get the planes full again and while they are in flight we can revert back to the afternoon ban and collect more tea alcohol money.

Thailand to Lift 2–5pm Alcohol Ban to Boost Sales, Deputy PM
Yes, this is Thai style is many cases of misbehaviour. They are afraid (or lazy) to go after the individuals, so it is easier to penalise everyone. I once flew TG from Europe to Bangkok and there were two female passengers who had had more than enough alcohol before boarding. The result was that serving of alcohol was reduced during the meal and completely closed after the meal. Do you remember when an SRT employee molested a female passenger? The result was to ban ALL drinking of alcohol on the trains. I never use trains so it doesn't bother me, but I feel sorry for those who would like to enjoy a quiet beer.

Fish n' Chips in Pattaya ?
I must admit that of all the fish and chip shops I have been to, I have never met a Polack. Anyway, like all pubs, restaurants etc. the food quality varies so much.

Tightening of Alcohol Laws With New Fines for Drinkers
We saw several people openly drinking beer with their lunch at 14.20 in a well known shopping mall yesterday. Nothing has changed.

Tightening of Alcohol Laws With New Fines for Drinkers
Sounds strange to me. Why would he be fined for that? I go shopping and often put bags with alcohol on the back seat.
