  1. Haven't I seen this headline a few times before?
  2. They forgot to write "by foreigners." Only foreigners? There are a couple of shops near me openly selling "electronic cigarettes, baraku (hookah) devices, and related substances.", maybe they have plenty of brown envelopes.
  3. There have been quite a few boat accidents involving Chinese, so I assume they post these incidents on Chinese social media. I remember a reading a month or so ago a wealthy Chinese man threatened to sue a boat company for "endangering his family's lives" by taking them out on a boat in bad weather and having to be rescued. I have searched for a follow up to this , but can't find anything.
  4. " I am his friend and visiting for a few days," There is a luxury condo here on Thong Lor and foreigners (mainly Chinese, but also a few westerners) are constantly coming and going with their suitcases. I asked reception if there were AirBnB gusets and she said "No, they are friends visiting." later I talked to a westerner and he admitted he was on holiday and was using AirBnB.
  5. You hit the nail on the head.
  6. Surely most of the parents must have known about the illegal wooden benches, yet once again "no one cares."
  7. Sometimes you choose to live in a very quiet area, but then some wealthy tycoon buys 9 or 10 of the houses and turns that block into a night entertainment area open to 4 or 5 am every day. I know from experience.
  8. We must live in entirely different areas. I rarely see foreigners smoking cannabis in my area, but almost daily I see groups of Thai openly smoking cannabis.
  9. Come here then. There are often several Thais sitting outside a restaurant near here openly smoking cannabis. Sometimes the smell is so strong we have to close the windows.
  10. They always talk about condos, but what about houses? Chinese rent luxury houses at ridicously high prices and then rent out the rooms to Chinese tourists at even higher prices. The mess they leave on the road outside the house is absolutely disgusting.
  11. Imported directly from China. There are some very dubious Chinese near us and when they first moved in the were huge boxes with all Chinese writing on them delivered almost every day. I saw big tables being loaded off trucks several times, even though these luxury houses are fully furnished.
  12. It's the slippery roads fault! If it hadn't been raining then the driver could have speeded as much as he liked without losing control. 😁
  13. Many trucks have no rear lights. I am not saying that is the cause though.
  14. This is the problem. It's not a case of not seeing or knowing the crossing is there. I am sure 99% of drivers who drive over red lights, or pedestrian crossing know full well that they are there as they drive in that area daily. They simply have no intention of stopping.
  15. Imagine the ferraris, Lambos and other cars with very low chassis.
  16. I think many young motorcyclists would love that. It would give them a chance to practice their motorcross skills.
  17. I quoted this in another posting. The most famous words in Thailand.
  18. All talk and no action. Several of our neighbours and ourselves have been complainging about a pub next door to us. This is in the middle of a reidential area, but some guy bought about 9 neighbouring houses and turned the area into an entertainment zone. The pubs stay open to 5 or 6 am (that is ok by me) , but their customers hold "parties" outside in the carpark, next to our house, all night long, screaming and shouting, preventing us from getting a good nights sleep. We complained to the owner of the area (there 2 more pubs about to open) and his only remark was "sleep during the day." We have complained to the police with photographic eveidence, but nothing happens.
  19. I don't smoke and have nothing against smokers, but a quick Google search gave a list of websites from recognised health institutes debating the dangers of vaping. https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/wellness-and-prevention/what-does-vaping-do-to-your-lungs https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/wellness-and-prevention/what-does-vaping-do-to-your-lungs You are right about cigarettes being smelly. My close friend gave up smoking (30 or more a day) and started vaping, so now he doesn't stink like he used to. His lungs are badly damaged, but that is through heavy smoking for 40+ years.
  20. These words can be used again and again when discussing health and laws in Thailand.
  21. My thoughts too. The report said Why more in this particular area and not the whole country? I doubt very much if vaping alone is the cause, but I am noit a medical expert.
  22. This is the third or fourth case I have read about over the last 6 or 7 months.
  23. oh, according the headline, I thought the dog was driving a motorbike and the boy was fleeing. (sorry for my bad taste, but honestly when i glanced at the headline that was my first thought) yes, it is sad. I have often seen people on bicycles and motorbikes swerve as dogs run towards them. Maybe someone older and more experienced woyuld have stood their ground as I don't think I have ever seen a dog make contact with a motorcyclist.
