  1. A couple of years ago, I was inches away from hitting two cops on a motorcylcle.

They were driving in front of me on Rama 4 on the inside lane. Suddenly, without warning they decided to cross in front of me and do a u-turn. I braked and swerved as hard as i could and as I mentioned missed them by inches.

They just laughed and drove off.

I really hate to think what would have happened if I had hit them.

Please don't judge this guy (I know he was speeding) or the cops until we know the full facts.

  2. http://www.wherever.tv/index2.jsf

    (ToT)

Opens fine right now (if that is the site you are referring to)

Thanks for the quick response Khun Ben. I've tried it and still get the same response. I have been using the site for months now for free. Is it a free site, or have I been on a free trial period?

I can open the site but to me it all looks like subscription based.

  3. I sincerely hope this case turns out well and the girl is safe and sound and we receive good news, but there is something I don't understand.

Surely the guy has a Facebook page and this can be found and linked to an IP address. Also the guy has almost certainly posted photos of himself there.

Also..... how many times have the RTP said that they can "hack" or see Line conversations if they want to. This comment has been used many times after they have arrested people for "political crimes".

  4. The poor navy seals in pictures look like Boy Scouts. Maybe invest in some uniforms first.

    This is the PARADE uniform.

Please read well the report before posting.

I have read it and can't see where it says "Parade Uniform". It says under "combat training".

Great! We camoflauge faces for jungle warfare but wear white gloves????????????????

Edit: Ok I can see it says "combat training in Military Parade", but agin: Why facial camoflauge with white gloves?

  5. Yes, they consume more power than an entire province, but they also generate more money for the economy than some of the most rural provinces!

I was talking to an engineer last week about the proposed highest building in Bangkok, which will be built near Central Rama 9. He made some rough calculations as to how much power would be needed to supply air con to the building. Yes, that was more electricity than is used in an entire province elsewhere. The other problem was the increase in traffic around that area.

  6. I waited 3 hours 30 minutes.

When it was my turn I walked in, smiled said "hello", gave her the papers.

She took the notification paper, scanned the bar code which then set the printer off.

When the paper came out she stamped and signed it and then gave it back to me.

    Probably 45 seconds in all.

I don't understand the long wait. I had number 174 and when I arrived they were processing number 68.

  7. Finally did my 90 day report today. It took 3 hours 30 minutes at Chaeng Wattana.

Yes, I heard several being questioned as to the location of their condos or apartments.

There was also a long discussion between a Thai lady and one of the officers.

The Thai lady wanted to report for her husband , but the officer insisted that the man showed up in person. That is also a new one on me. I often see people with several passports.

  8. There area lot of comments about the rain Tuesday afternoon not being exceptionally heavy. I think it really depends where you were.

I was on Thong Lor at that time and it rained heavily but no flooding. As soon as it stopped ( about 1.30 pm) I headed for Asoke by taking the boat on Klong san Saeb. I don't think I have seen the water level as high as that for years. When I arrived at Asoke, I was surprised to see the whole area was flooded. My friend told me that it had been a really heavy downpour.

This is not the first time I have experienced something like that. Sometimes left heavy rain at Asoke and arrived at Thong Lor where there hadn't been a single drop of rain.

  9. I can see there is another thread where a poster asks if someone can do his 90 report for him.

Normlly, yes. I have seen people go in with several pasports.

Anyway, to my point. My friend went to do his 90 report today at Chaeng Wattana and told me that it took a good 90 minutes.

One of the reasons why it took so long, was that immigration officials seemed to be asking everyone a lot of questions about their addresses. "Where exactly is soi XXX/" and things like that as if they were checking that the applicants really lived there.

Apparently, another colleague had immigration arrive at his appartment and asked to see his papers etc. (This may be because they were looking for someone else in the same block, but who knows?)

I will be going in on Monday (I left the postal application too late after a failed attempt at doing it online.) so I'll see for myself how it is.

Anyone else experienced this type of questioning?

Edit: I tried to edit the title but couldn't. Maybe "tightening up" isn't the right expression but I guess it made a few more of you read it.

  10. I went to Foodland's "Took la dee" restaurant yesterday with my girlfriend and when we had finished eating she told me to get the bill. I put my hand in the air and tried to attract their attention.

The waiter and waitress were playing around with each other and had no time for customers.

My girlfriend started to get impatient and told me to do something. At the same time the waiter actually saw me and turned his back to me and walked off.

Usually I can control myself, but yesterday I lost it and shouted in Thai "what are you doing? Why don't you want to give me the bill?"

The manager came over and apologised and told me that the young people didn't speak English and didn't know that I sppke Thai.

I don't think it is always racism, but more a fear of speaking English.

  11. Seems like I always get served.

And is no one jumping the lines I'm in.

You are either lucky or live in the country where there are no people.

I see people jumping queues every day and several times a day.

Some Thais accept it and some don't.

But to say you never see it is unbelievable.
