Let's agree Costas, you were not there so you don't have the vaguest idea what went on. Others, myself included, were, although I'm happy to admit I was not anywhere near the firing line but I know others who were and their stories don't match your version. Most of those killed were neither shooting back nor close to anyone who was. Your post disgusts me.He means he wants the media to tell the "sanitized" version of events according to him. Never mind what the actual truth is.
Oh please tell me, JV, what is the actual truth?
That the reds and the blacks were shooting at the army?
That the reds were burning everything on their path?
That the reds had BKK ransomed for weeks?
I also don't agree with the army shooting back, but that had to stop somehow.
Now, as the PM wisely said, let the courts find out the truth and deliver justice to the wrongdoers.
But don't try to hide behind your little finger.....it doesn't work.
And this is not meant to justify wrong doings on either side, however there is more than enough evidence out there to support a claim against both sides. Tony Joh's battle-line videos alone give the lie to Prayuth's spiel today.
Thailand needs to stop this on both sides and the only way it can do this is if democracy is allowed to grow - and, more importantly, correct itself without self serving intervention when the army and the elite don't like the result, as it does so. Sadly that seems increasingly unlikely at the moment.
You`re bang on the money in that there were deadly wrongdoings on both sides. At the time I lived on the same Soi as Prime Minister Abhisit, worked around Silom area and saw protests virtually every day. This isn`t my country and so I`m neither red, yellow or whatever shirt. However, one thing that isn`t deniable is the vast majority of deaths were of peaceful protestors. Surely after allowing the sit down protests to drag on for 6 weeks they could have come up with a better solution than opening fire with M16 assault rifles on unarmed people.
Unarmed???
What about the attacks on BTS Sala Daeng and McDonalds? I happened to be there at the time.
Or what about being made to pay 500 Baht every evening just to be allowed to go home?
Thugs!

Opens fine right now (if that is the site you are referring to)
Thanks for the quick response Khun Ben. I've tried it and still get the same response. I have been using the site for months now for free. Is it a free site, or have I been on a free trial period?
I can open the site but to me it all looks like subscription based.

What's the problem?
With all the equipment they have on board they can deal with almost any emergency except maybe heart stop. Oh I forgot... no ploblem there are defibrillator stations set up around Bangkok.
Great Health Minister

I sincerely hope this case turns out well and the girl is safe and sound and we receive good news, but there is something I don't understand.
Surely the guy has a Facebook page and this can be found and linked to an IP address. Also the guy has almost certainly posted photos of himself there.
Also..... how many times have the RTP said that they can "hack" or see Line conversations if they want to. This comment has been used many times after they have arrested people for "political crimes".

The tanks they bought from China developed cracks, that would make
any sensible person think twice about buying Chinese Subs.
regards worgeordie
So have the seats on some of the BTS carriages. I have noticed several cracks on the Chinese supplied trains recently.

I wonder what the toilets are like on a Chinese submarine!
Like much in China, it's hard to tell where the toilet ends and the submarine begins.
Toilets? They stop off at temples and do it whereever they like.

The poor navy seals in pictures look like Boy Scouts. Maybe invest in some uniforms first.
This is the PARADE uniform.
Please read well the report before posting.
I have read it and can't see where it says "Parade Uniform". It says under "combat training".
Great! We camoflauge faces for jungle warfare but wear white gloves????????????????
Edit: Ok I can see it says "combat training in Military Parade", but agin: Why facial camoflauge with white gloves?

Yes tell the truth. The death of those 90 unarmed, peace loving soldiers slaughtered as they played guitars and sang, 'Blowing in the Wind,' is a national tragedy.
I like the sarcasm but many won't understand it.
Don't forget the 90 deaths were on both sides.

Been using the SCB app for a couple of years.
No problems. I am really pleased with it.

Yes, they consume more power than an entire province, but they also generate more money for the economy than some of the most rural provinces!
I was talking to an engineer last week about the proposed highest building in Bangkok, which will be built near Central Rama 9. He made some rough calculations as to how much power would be needed to supply air con to the building. Yes, that was more electricity than is used in an entire province elsewhere. The other problem was the increase in traffic around that area.

Someone asked me today if Thais understand the cultural aspect of April Fools Day.
This seems to prove that they don't.

Why don't these people get someone to proofread official signs and documents?

I waited 3 hours 30 minutes.
When it was my turn I walked in, smiled said "hello", gave her the papers.
She took the notification paper, scanned the bar code which then set the printer off.
When the paper came out she stamped and signed it and then gave it back to me.
Probably 45 seconds in all.
I don't understand the long wait. I had number 174 and when I arrived they were processing number 68.

Finally did my 90 day report today. It took 3 hours 30 minutes at Chaeng Wattana.
Yes, I heard several being questioned as to the location of their condos or apartments.
There was also a long discussion between a Thai lady and one of the officers.
The Thai lady wanted to report for her husband , but the officer insisted that the man showed up in person. That is also a new one on me. I often see people with several passports.

he can bluddy change Channels like anyone else can if he don't like it... or get someone else to change it for him
I'm pretty sure martial law and the new constitution gives him the right to shut down the bluddy TV channel and arrest everyone if he doesn't like the programming on any given day.
Don't forget......and execute them!

There area lot of comments about the rain Tuesday afternoon not being exceptionally heavy. I think it really depends where you were.
I was on Thong Lor at that time and it rained heavily but no flooding. As soon as it stopped ( about 1.30 pm) I headed for Asoke by taking the boat on Klong san Saeb. I don't think I have seen the water level as high as that for years. When I arrived at Asoke, I was surprised to see the whole area was flooded. My friend told me that it had been a really heavy downpour.
This is not the first time I have experienced something like that. Sometimes left heavy rain at Asoke and arrived at Thong Lor where there hadn't been a single drop of rain.

Last year during the demonstrations I did my 90 day report at Big C. Lad Prao.
There, they checked the application forms thoroughly before issueing a queue number.
I saw 2 applicants who had no idea what their addresses were. They had to call someone to get details.
-
I can see there is another thread where a poster asks if someone can do his 90 report for him.
Normlly, yes. I have seen people go in with several pasports.
Anyway, to my point. My friend went to do his 90 report today at Chaeng Wattana and told me that it took a good 90 minutes.
One of the reasons why it took so long, was that immigration officials seemed to be asking everyone a lot of questions about their addresses. "Where exactly is soi XXX/" and things like that as if they were checking that the applicants really lived there.
Apparently, another colleague had immigration arrive at his appartment and asked to see his papers etc. (This may be because they were looking for someone else in the same block, but who knows?)
I will be going in on Monday (I left the postal application too late after a failed attempt at doing it online.) so I'll see for myself how it is.
Anyone else experienced this type of questioning?
Edit: I tried to edit the title but couldn't. Maybe "tightening up" isn't the right expression but I guess it made a few more of you read it.

I went to Foodland's "Took la dee" restaurant yesterday with my girlfriend and when we had finished eating she told me to get the bill. I put my hand in the air and tried to attract their attention.
The waiter and waitress were playing around with each other and had no time for customers.
My girlfriend started to get impatient and told me to do something. At the same time the waiter actually saw me and turned his back to me and walked off.
Usually I can control myself, but yesterday I lost it and shouted in Thai "what are you doing? Why don't you want to give me the bill?"
The manager came over and apologised and told me that the young people didn't speak English and didn't know that I sppke Thai.
I don't think it is always racism, but more a fear of speaking English.

Seems like I always get served.
And is no one jumping the lines I'm in.
You are either lucky or live in the country where there are no people.
I see people jumping queues every day and several times a day.
Some Thais accept it and some don't.
But to say you never see it is unbelievable.

Why has this thread gone dead?
Nothing happening?

It is like a viscious cirlcle.
1. Paradise Beach - no people, clean sea
2. A few backpackers come and spend a little money
3. Locals eye the potential income. Invite more people
4. Over crowded , polluted, expensive.
5. Tourists find new destination
6. Paraidise Beach
Wait 10 or mor years and no one will come to that area.

As usual too little,TOO LATE,and it will be the same next year
and the year after and ........

Luckily it's really all Myanmar's fault.
Seriously, that is what my Thai friend in Chiang Mai says.
Thais don't burn. It all comes from Myanmar.

If May 19th means nothing to you I am afraid that the entire topic may also be beyond you.
As usual - speaking in riddles waiting for someone to bite! The date of the first hearing is interesting.
The 26 th May would have been much worse.

A couple of years ago, I was inches away from hitting two cops on a motorcylcle.
They were driving in front of me on Rama 4 on the inside lane. Suddenly, without warning they decided to cross in front of me and do a u-turn. I braked and swerved as hard as i could and as I mentioned missed them by inches.
They just laughed and drove off.
I really hate to think what would have happened if I had hit them.
Please don't judge this guy (I know he was speeding) or the cops until we know the full facts.
