1. A prostitute?? I saw one of them one time, exactly what does one of them look like these days? :D

Thong, Hotpants, stringy top, mobile phone and those god-aweful platform shoes that add about 5inchs to the girls height...

Oh, and usually bleating "Hello sexy man, come inside please..."

or was that "Come inside me please" ? I never can tell, its the strange accent.

    :o

  2. Fantastic stuff here...

Serious troll breeding going on in here, light hearted banter thats degenerated to down right name calling... superb!

You all need to go sit in the corner, cross legged, with your thumb and forefinger pressed together to make an O shape, spread the rest of your fingers out (palm facing the sky) and hum your mantra with your eyes closed...

"I love hoez, Erco is a Hoe"

Hey Erco, can i ask... why do you have this deep seated irrational fear of Bar Girls/Prostitutes? Did you get burned by one on your first visit here? Or maybe you took on back to your little filth ridden bedsit and found out it was in fact a Ladyboy? Or maybe your a hard-core devout christian who denounces all evil in the world for the fear of gods wrath? Either way matey you need to lighten up, cut out the caffine its doing you no good! Your giving our country a bad name (your not the only one, but you did kinda start it) and your making yourself look just a teeny bit silly...

Just my 2 baht, flame away Erco...

  3. In the tourist areas, most of the thais do speak rudimentry english, and the more they use it the more proficent they become with it. When i am a tourist, i try to learn at least a few words of whatever the local language is, even if its just please, thank you and a few other choice phrases (like buying a beer, for instance :D )

Away from the tourist areas, a some thais dont speak english, for whatever reason... should they speak english, not thai their native languge? Not really...

It would help some people to learn a bit of english with a more global marketplace opening up (the internet for one) but it shouldnt be expected, its quite possible that knowing the lingo could lead to new opportunities, that a non english speaking person wouldnt have... but its upto them.

The non-thai people who live here should at least make an attempt to speak some thai, rudimentry stuff at the very least, its polite, it helps (sometimes) After all, if you dont make an effort, why should anyone else? :o

  4. I'm a little bored with my usual haunts for food (both Thai and falang) and as a vein attempt to broaden my horizons i'd be interested to know where your favorite resturants are...

Heres a few of the ones i've tried/like...

    Chalong:

    The Family Resturant,

Greek/Mediterianian food, Some Thai food, inexpensive, good food and has a take-away service. Opposite the police station

    Bagels & Beyond,

Good snack food, bagels and burritos, no Thai food, not cheap, just down from Sea Bees diving.

    Somtam & Sandwiches,

English cafe style resturant, good food both falang and thai, friendly staff and reasonably cheap, on the rawai road, next to Loma

    Swiss Delight,

Swiss food, always excellent quality, good pasta and snitzels, not too cheap, on the connection road between the two chaofar roads

    Sanook,

German style food, huge portions, good quality, not too expensive, just past "Land & House" housing estate on the right (resturant looks like a boat)

    Flintstones Bakery,

Good snack food, Pizzas are ok, the breads never fresh (always seems like yesterdays bread to me), inexpensive, opposite "mikes Bikes" rentals.

    Fish & Chip Shop,

Good copy of english fish and chips, they used to deliver (dont know if they still do), not expensive, just down from "Bagels & Beyond", next to the bar called Nok inn shop :o

Kaneang 1 (spelling might be wrong)

Good thai food, cheap as chips, nice views, Right down near the peir.

(have been to a few thai places, but either cant remember the name or was unable to read it due to it being in thai :D)

    Rawai:

    Pizzaria Restorante

Excellent Italian food, fantastic pizzas, not expensive, just on the beach road.

    Name Unknown...

The stone chairs/tables that are right on the beach road in rawai, sorry cant remember the name of the palce, great seafood/thai food, inexpensive and a nice setting (as long as you dont mind stone chairs!)

    Kata:

    Anchor bar & Resturant

English pub/resturant, good food, inexpensive, good portions but presentation lacks sometimes, opposite "Lucky's" guest house, near the kata pharmacy

    Kwong Shop,

Great seafood place, not expensive, the guy who runs the place is a right laugh, Thai food mainly, near Kata pharmacy.

Right.. thats all i can think of right now... i might add some more as i remember... any of you ex-pats feel like shareing your favorite eateries?

  5. For the record, i'm (currently) single :o

Well a number of points spring to mind. the first and most powerful of them is love, yes thats right, even BG's deserve love. And lets be perfectly honest here, you cant really control who you love and dont love, it just kinda happens... so lets say Joe Bloggs comes to LOS for a two week holiday, he knows the score, hes been around a bit... he meets this girl and falls in love, but <shock horror> shes a bar girl... whats he gunna do?

"Sorry luv, cant be with you cos you sell yourself"

"But Mr. Joe, i wont go near another man ever again, i love you"

"Nope sorry Lek/Noie/Bee* your a prostitute, even though i love you i wont be with you"

    (* delete as appropriate)

    So theres point 1.

Point 2, Lets just say this particular BG pulls all the right strings in bed, she knows what shes gotta do between the air-con'd sheets, in fact she makes Jenna Jameson looks like a virgin and Mr Joe Bloggs gets off on that... Joe Bloggs works in Oil/Banking/Whatever and a thousand quid is <deleted> all to him... so he buys the girl a motorbike, he sends her a few hundred quid every month... its nothing to him, he makes more than that a week and hes repaying just a little bit of what hes had (in his opinion).

Point 3, Hes a lonely old man, hes gulable, and this sexy lovely 20something long haired, dark skinned goddess adores him (or so he thinks) she promises him everything as long as he takes care of her... so he does.

Point 4, Who really cares... after all its not YOUR money, is it?

Let me address some of your other points...

If i went with a working girl back in my country, and i felt the need to support her after a coupla weeks... then yes i would...

and my closing statement, who says these bar girls are any inferior to a non bar girl? I've known bar girls who have returned wallets(with cash)/phones etc that have been lost without a second thought to it, and ive seen "nice normal girls" rip people off in front my very own two eyes. Go figure.

Let people do it if they want to, who really cares, its their cash, its their life and its their choice...

Hope that helps shed some light on things for you

  6. Try Phuket Golf Holiday

the website isnt brillient, but the guy who runs it/organises stuff is a nice guy, he will be able to sort out your golfing needs, including tuition if your cousin needs it. Hes also a very keen golfer and knows all the golf courses on the island intimately.

Hes worth talking to, if nothing else

  7. Isnt that new development just outside of Karon supposed to become a water park of some description? Cant seem to see any slides or stuff but that doesnt mean they are not coming...

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...... Water slides, its like being 10 years old again, cant wait :o

  8. Just got back from a fantastic day... no real difference to last year except maybe a few less people around... cops didnt seem to bat an eyelid over the water throwing, in fact i was involved in drenching two myself :o All in all things seem ok, business as usual, I didnt get to Patong so i couldnt say, but the south of the island ran out of water at around 4pm, so i guess its Songkran as usual :D

Man, i got sun burnt... same as last year!

  9. I've yet to brave the roads of phuket today, but last night we had songkran revellers around, i heard patong was the usual mayhem of water, senslessness and drunkenness... same same, but different.

The Local law enforcement seems to have relaxed the rules a little in view of the recent threats and songkran zoneing. Its seems they are going to be concentrateing on Main roads only, side streets, Soi's etc will be tolerated.

This is what i've heard, but the phuket grapevein has a habit of feeding you a line only to find that its totaly wrong later... so who knows... guess i need to hit the bike, head out onto the roads and find out for sure!

  10. You could try a little guest house place called "Lucky's Guest house" in Kata, easy enough to find and relativly cheap... i know a few people who stay there. They have rooms (very cheap 2-300baht a night) to small bungalow style accomodation for a bit more (around 600 a night i think). These prices maybe slightly out and with High season about to offically go the prices may slide a little.

Its in the heart of Kata, which is a bit of a "touristland" but isnt too bad, plenty of dive shops around. No really a "girlie" bar scene.

The long term accomodation in Kata isnt too good, price wise, youll be paying 15k a month for a small bungalow, if you head over towards Chalong/Rawai way you can get that down to around 10k a month.

Drop me a email/Private message and i'll be happy to share what limited knowledge i have of the island and maybe be able to put you in touch with a few more knowledgable people.

Welcome to Phuket, tis a lovely place

  11. and for those of you who missed the humour in my post, the guy with the towel from the hotel is being unfairly treated, they are going over the top. He doesnt deserve that over a towel, just buy a new one or get the old one cleaned at some laundry shop, give it back and apologise.. that should be the end of it. Deporting someone, locking someone up because they "borrowed" a towel is just insane. Thats not the issue.

My beef is with people taking photos of kiddies, having kiddie porn etc. People like that dont deserve to breath the air on this planet, and anybody who disagrees with me on that is just simply wrong.

And i will fight THAT argument until there is no longer breath in my body, were not talking about some bar girl or some hooker were talking about a little girl, a baby, taking a bath, she should be reading comics, playing with dolls and eating sweets, not being perved at by some lowlife peice of scum who just wants to stick his meat in her for some sick self gratification or make disgusting pictures available for other equally sick lowlifes to jerk off to. Jeez, i cant beleive i'm alone in this opinion!

Do any of us have all the cold, hard facts in this story? No. There is a chance that this guy is being set-up or victimised... but you dont get your name on the "sex offenders registar" for thinking about it, you get your name on that black list for doing it. Hes already been convicted in the west for these types of crimes, what he got off the plane in thailand and suddenly renounced is past sins? yeah? what was he doing pointing a camera at a baby in the bath then?

Would i blame the Thai authorities for not wanting that kind of person in their country? No, they are fully within their right/privilege to deport that kind of person.

(and i hope they do) We are guests in this country, and with anywhere in this world, if the host doesnt want you there, you go home or somewhere else.

Isn't freedom speach a great thing?

  12. I know of a pool in Chalong, just inside the "Phuket Country Homes" housing estate, on the Cho far Road going into phuket town (not the temple road) - although i havent been there so i couldnt tell you what size it is.

I'm not aware of a swimming club, but that doesnt mean there isnt one, just that i dont know of it :o they might be able to help you at the pool with that one.

Otherwise its a case of sneaking into a hotel and using their pool... or just jump in the sea.

Good luck for when you get here and welcome to Phuket

  13. Well maybe you condone that kind of behaviour, but in my opinion taking secret photos of little girls having a bath is a bit too close to Paedophilia...

And yes _those_ kind of people deserve everything they get... and if it was down to me, they would get everything they deserve, and interfereing with children would simply be not possible after i'd finished with them.

But h3ll, thats "rough" justice for you...

Let me ask you a question... what would be your reaction if some pervert took an unhealthy interest in your child, neighbours child or friends child? I presume from the style of your posts in this thread that you would simply turn away and ignore it?

In my country that would get you labeled as an accessory to the crime, putting you squarely in trouble along with the criminal doing it.

Fortuantely/Unfortunately i am neither in my own country, nor am i responsible for law and justice, so people like yourself can sleep soundly at night knowing all those bad people can get away with their crimes, free from reprisal (from me at least).

My lifestyle is both moral and legal, and im comfortable with the fact i'm a good boy (usually), i'm also an opinionated person who likes to discuss/debate/argue on forums and were touching on a subject that i feel _VERY_ strongly about.. being a parent myself.

Child abuse is a very serious thing.

International towel theives are a different ball game however... :o

  14. Based on what you have told us about this bloke, no its wrong for him to be locked up and deported over a <deleted> towel... of course... but as stated before, hes hardly some kiddie fiddler pervert, hes an international towel thief...

    Hang him! :o
