This now makes me slightly worried now.
I was under the assumption that the need to show cash at Immigration is for 30 Day Stampers and TV holders only?
I carry a Non-IM O based on marriage, One Year, with Multiple Reentry Permits. Doing some 10 trips abroad a Year (Usually Suvarnabumhi, sometimes Don Muaeng, haven’t done a land border crossing in 5 Years now) I rarely ever carry enough cash. I hold a Work Permit which I assume should show that I have the means of financing my stay.
Should I get 700 US cash now for my return trips?
I would imagine you would be OK. If you have an extension of stay based on marriage then you have already met financial requirements at an immigration office.

So why is someone with a Non O for marriage with a multiple re-entry visa doing 90 days visa runs? Surely he just reports to his local Immigration office every 90 days like the rest of us? This sounds a bit strange, surely? Am I missing something?
"He holds a Non-Immigrant ‘O’, multiple entry visa, based on marriage, which he obtains from Savannakhet. He was due to do his 90 day’s exit........"
Multi entry visa. Not extension based on marriage.

Other than the 1,500 Baht ?..................... which in itself is 500 Baht more than it should be...
Yes, but that goes to Cambodia. Plus the 300 baht to leave same day also to the Cambodians. Maybe that is why the Thais try some extortion. They maybe feel left out.

Seems to be the same old story. There is a law there but it is not applied in the majority of cases. I came through the Chong Chom border, with a Multi O, on Wednesday. No discussions what so ever about money.

What a shame.
A longtime, reliable and knowledgeable member takes the time to post a report about problems at a border. In a matter of minutes he is shot down in flames.
Hardly worth posting on here anymore if that is all the thanks you get.

just another way of charging extra for a service that they do not provide
A service that you don't need to take.
The passports are sent by EMS. Same service as a courier.

You don't say which country she is applying to.
The replies you have received all seem to assume it's the UK; is this correct?
If it is the UK application then they probably will call to verify the letter as most Thais only get 2 weeks holiday at most.
If they do call then if the letter is written in English they will expect to speak to the signatory in English and will doubt the letter's authenticity if they are unable to do so.
If the letter is written in Thai then they will be happy top speak to her employer in Thai; but, as with all Thai documents, you should include a certified English translation with the application.
There is a question on the application asking what language they would like to speak in case of a phone call. The letter will, of course, be in English as that is the language required .

Did you read everything in the first post? First "mistake" was to forget to press total in time. Second "mistake" was not put in the correct amount given. I guess you still believe in Santa Claus.
Btw. same thing happen to me at Central Festival Foodmarket (Tops or whatever it is there).
Still only one instance. To suggest it is a scam it would need to be done more often. I don't see anyone else complaining.

Or simply ask them if it was a mistake. One instance hardly makes it a scam.

It was rhetorical. These aint your average Thai bods processing a visa for goodness sake, if they say they require further info then what's they need. You can't 'save face' to a stranger thousands of miles away, utterly ridiculous thing to come out with.
But a service provider can save face, in the broader sense, to it's customers by not admitting that they are not within timescale by their own fault.
-
Why get into a p%#@ing competition? If the applications are agreed and sent back in time for travel, what is the problem?

Unfortunately, we will not be able to make a decision on your visa application within these service standards because we require further information to fully assess your application. We will contact you should we require any additional information from you.
A bit confusing.

Looking to buy a 10 inch tablet or thereabouts, Huawei make a 9.8 inch for under 10,000 Baht which I think would suit me very well, comes with WIFI or WIFI+sim.
Another member suggested buying online, I've looked on Lazada but was rather put off by some negative feed back and comments.
If I can't find any shops in Surin I may drive to Korat (IT city) where there should be a good selection to choose from, even though it's 6 hour round trip I think it may be worth it.
There are many places in Robinsons in Buriram. My guess would be that Robinsons Surin would have many places also.

Sorry, but I think that it wasn't 780 baht for tax, it was 750 baht for the social security. Even when the ss act states that it has to be a percentage of the salary, all foreign, no matter if they have 25 K, or 50 K/ as a salalry per month, all teachers pay 750 baht, and the same amount has to be paid by the school.
Actually the rule is 5% of salary with a maximum of 750 baht a month.

Applied 11/7. Nothing yet. Not even a phone call asking questions. I'm hoping no news is good news.

Police clearance in Korat.
You can obtain your Thai police clearance certificate at the forensic police department in Joho. It can take up to 15 working days to be returned. Location is below.

Really?
It is normally written on the receipt that VfS give you.... that said, most people will now pay in advance and will not get a receipt on the day. Pouchay has confirmed that his wife had the EMS tracking number written on a copy of her passport ID page.
I will be surprised if Mrs Denim doesn't have something similar,,,the EMS tracing number will look like EU123456789TH
Indeed. My wife has a EU(9 numbers)TH number on the copy of her passport. Also a stamp confirming bio metrics have been done and a stamp in the name of the member of staff that took care of everything.

- a "luxurious" lifestyle (meaning a lifestyle they cannot afford. So even if they do have money, they will always want to have a lifestyle that is 'higher'): this translates to money, gold, financial security, etc.
- bragging. Isaan girls seem to like to brag about buying expensive things. My friend would buy a 2,000 Baht tiny bag and she would say "it's so expensive". I didn't ask her how much it was nor did I ever say anything about the bag, I didn't even take a good look at it (I'm female, so this is the kind of thing they talk to other girls about). She just volunteered that info out of the blue.

- smacking. Oh LORD the smacking. You can give them a piece of plastic and they will smack their way around town with that.
I prefer the sound of plastic smacking to that of jealousy smacking.

Still don't see any reason why the OP can't go and ask the labour department.
Tell me what he has to lose by doing so.
I have never said that he should not. Just giving some ideas, as he requested in the OP.
This is a forum after all.

I'm married to a Thai. You appeared to be answering my post
I guess the clue is in the reason the visa was issued. "Dependent".
-
At the time of the accident, and some time before, there was no traffic on the inside 2 lanes. The driver had no reason at all to be in the outside lane.
Drive on the left. Keep your eyes on the road. Use the outside lane(s) to overtake. Once overtaking is completed then return to the inside lane. Simple.

So far I have learnt that if you have an O visa and you are married to a Thai, then you may have a chance to get a WP. If you are a foreigner on an O visa and your wife isn't a Thai, then you will have almost zero chance to get a WP. Some guys have reported that they got their WP on O visas but I am not sure if they are married to Thai nationals.
The OP wrote this.
2 minutes ago, overherebc said:married to a Thai but that doesn't mean you shouldn't ask your local labour office yourself.
The OP's line above doesn't say that. I read it that his wife may not be Thai.

Ridiculous comment. A multi entry visa is a "right visa". No scam involved.
