I mean..... a passport translation to apply for a yellow book. They don't have to be stamped by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

must register yearly ; geez they make it up as it goes along. So we report annually for extensions, then 90 days, then TM 30 each return in country. Only thing missing is the jail bracelet around the ankle!!
This rule has been around for a very long time. I first did it over 18 years ago. I would hazard a guess that this was because, at the time, there were not so many immigration offices around so the police kept a check on things.
Now that many provinces have their own immigration, or at least there is one in a nearby province, the police don't seem to get involved so much.

The head man keeps a ledger with the addresses and folk who reside there in his area....
Yes, he does. He has been to see me about that too.
This particular time he said it was about foreigners for the police.

A while back, when I visited the police station to get a residence cert for a driving licence, the police officer told me that there is a rule that foreigners must register with the local police station once a year. He went on to explain that this rule is not strictly enforced but the police do like to try to keep track of who lives where.
I have not had a visit from police but I have had a visit from village head man who wanted to take my details. This was by order of the local police. Looks like the police in some areas are a little more serious about this than others.

For those that do have a yellow book, a question.....
Did your passport translation need to be stamped by your home country's embassy?
Muang Buriram district office are asking for this but at least 5 other districts, that I know of, are not.

Thank you for your replies.

Did you have all of the required documentation? Maybe you didn't and that is why they directed you to go to Bangkok.

I just returned from Sawannakhet for 1 year Non O based on marriage.
Documents as mentioned above was all that was required and all very easy.
I just thought i would add, that while paying for my Laos entry visa in USD, several of my dollar bills were rejected as being not pristine (the clerk did check each very carefully).
We stayed Riverfront Hotel in Mukdahan, 780 THB for 2 persons with breakfast.
In Sawannakhet we stayed in Avalon Residence 1,060 THB with breakfast. They allowed us to check-in at 12.15pm instead of 2pm.
Paid for both from Traveloka via 7-11 as my credit card has expired.
Hope this is useful to someone.
That price for Avalon seems high. Last month we had a triple room with breakfast for 870.

Any news on recent tourist visa applications in Savannakhet?
20 thousand in the bank? Ticket out of Thailand within 60/90 days? Hotel reservations?
Any info greatfully received.
Thanks.

Most shop bought mayo is crap. If I can't be bothered to make my own, I use natural yoghurt to make my coleslaw. Makes the coleslaw much lighter.

31 baht for a small bottle of Leo now only marginally more than the 30 baht price in 2015. Meanwhile Lao Dark has gone up from 45 baht to 64 baht. Tough call on value now!
Maybe so but Lao Dark beer is 100 times better than Leo (I'm being kind to Leo too). The call on quality is not so tough.

Surely if he comes back, after being away for some time, he'll not need a waiver.
Why?
-
You need a waiver to get a work permit, unless you are working in a Universtiy or language school. Basically any school that is goverened by OBEC requires a waiver for a WP. Bangkok, upcountry or by the sea makes no difference.

No. The amount is not important. Even if you only put 50 baht on you will still receive some points.
If you have not had a successful payment screen then the top up did not work.
-
My guess is you are putting in the wrong code. There is a serial number and a "password" number. You need to use the "password" one. The amount of each card is irrelevant. So long as you end up with 380 baht.

i did many times for the 300 then on for 50
if i add more money, i'm scared it still doesn't work
If you have done many times with the same cards I would suggest it is not working. Did you get a "payment successful" screen?
-
Looks your true money didn't work. Try to enter the code again.

still i double check, there is one package VOD what ever it is for 250 bahts for a month, giving 65 points ?
when i click on it not enough points it says ...i poped up 350 bahts
Just above that is shows how many points you have. What does it say?
-
If you are not being credited then it is not the fault of HdPrime. Is there any money showing on your account?
If it does show then the simple answer is that the 30 day package is 380 baht. You need to add more money.

For every successful Farnang/Thai marriage a dozen have been fleeced. This is fact.
Interesting. Facts are usually based on evidence. Look forward to seeing yours.

You only need to apply for a passport. You don't need to do anything about naturalization.
The laws have been changed a few times so best just to ask the authorities. As an example, I know of a Thai/English boy who was born before 2006 to unmarried parents who obtained a British passport.
Are you and the child's mother on speaking terms? If so just go ahead as per the government website after having obtained the required documents from her.
I think you have to apply in Thailand. A friend of mine tried to apply in the passport office in Durham and was refused as they wanted the child to be present too. They told him to apply in Bangkok.

So that's why you see kilometres of road side sellers selling ONLY melons. And then ONLY basketware. And so on.
No. That happens because it is a village industry. Each area specialise in on product. Has been going on for generations.

A lot of this paying for a place crap is for a reason. Many times the applicant is either not qualified, lazy to get qualified, has not got enough experience and wants to jump the queue.
I know many many teachers who have got where they are through diligence and hard work.
If lazy, impatient people want to pay for positions that they are not entitled to then go ahead but stop complaining about it.

No so much tea money. It's a payment to circumnavigate the rules. Cambodian immigration are perfectly able to make you stay 24 hours. What would you rather do, pay 300 baht or hang around over night? That said, it does seem to be enforced at some borders and not others.
If I need a border crossing then Chong Chom is nearest so I take the 300 baht on the chin. Travelling to another border would cost me more than triple that in both fuel and time.
