  1. You will have to exit Thailand to play in the casinos.

You need to enter & exit Cambodia to be able to re-enter Thailand.

You will need a tourist visa to enter Cambodia.

When you re-enter Thailand, you will get a permission to stay stamp of 60 days for a valid tourist visa or 90 days for a valid Non O, or 15 days for visa exemption if you do not have a live visa. If you currently have a single entry Thailand visa, it will be dead when you exit.

  2. i renewed my car & motorcycle licenses last week @ Nang Rong. I used one residency certificate and a photocopy as they are 500 baht each @ Nahkon Ratchasima immigration.

I had 2 medical certificates as they are only 50 baht each. When my wife (Thai) renewed hers in October, she had to do the colour blindness, depth perception & reaction test, as well as watch a 45 minute safety video. I didn't sit any tests or watch the safety video. I think that was because I arrived @ 11am they didn't have enough time to fit it all in before closing for lunch @ 12 noon......LOL

  3. If you planning on applying in UK you can get a Multi Entry Non Imm O Visa. This would give you up to 15 months.

If not , Tourist Visas are the option.

Only other way would be to enrol in a Thai Language school and get a Visa for study.

Thanks Lite, but as I said I am UNDER 50yrs old, which excludes me from the O visa I believe...

My real worry is whether the Thai immigration people will start getting suspicious/pissed off with me every month popping across the border clearly for the sole purpose of renewing my 30 day limit...

Being under 50 does not exclude you from getting a Non Immigrant O visa.....you only need to be over 50 for a Non O-A retirement visa, or an extension of stay based on retirement.

  4. There is no problem. You can go on the 7th and obtain a normal 30 day extension of stay. Or you can leave and return today with a new 60 day entry if you so wish. Saturday/Sunday and holidays mean you can do on the next business day.

I stand corrected on my previous post....

My current extension expires on Jan 30 2011, which is a Sunday. I only deposited my money into my Thai account on Nov 30th, so it will have been in the bank for 60 days on Jan 28th (Friday). Immigration confirmed last week that only 2 months seasoning is required. Can I safely wait until Monday 31st to go to immigration?

It should be safe but I would advise doing on the 28th as for one year extensions of stay they do want them done early as a rule and more at stake if a simple document is missing and you need to obtain.

    Thanks Lopburi

  6. The rule is two months for the FIRST extension of stay based on retirement, and three months for all subsequent extensions.

Do you also know when we must get the letter from the bank? I have to renew mine next week in Hua Hin and don't know if I have to go to the bank that morning or not. Thanks.

Many immigration offices want to see the letter dated the same day you attend immigration. You may need to order the letter in advance of picking it up, depending on your bank.

I have to give 1 weeks notice to my bank (Kasikorn) in Nang Rong to get a letter for immigration.

  7. Tell your father to convert the none 'O' visa first to a retirement visa (1900 baht) once that's done he can apply to have a multi entry stamp (3800 baht)to run alongside the retirement visa.

It only becomes an extension of stay on your second application for renewal in one years time.

You cant convert the Non O to a "retirement visa". You can apply for an extension based on retirement in the last 30 days of the current permission to stay.

That's what I did. It doesn't only become an extension of stay on your second application, it is an extension of stay when you first apply.

You beat me to it LB

  8. In late august this year, I used an agent (who I met outside the British Embassy after collecting the endorsed AFM) to do the translation and take it to the MFA to be notarised. The cost was 1800 baht, which includes the MFA fee & postage by EMS to my house in Buriram. I did this because I had business back in Buriram to take care of. The cost of the translation alone is 250 baht for one page. The agent got the docs on the Tuesday and I received them in Buriram the next Monday. Using an agent removes the hassle of potentially incorrect translations and multiple visits to the MFA. PM me if you want a scan of the agents business card....

  9. I thought the new date on the visa extension was simply a 'visa valid until' date, not a permission to stay in itself? Doesn't the visa extension have to be validated in some way, as with a new stamp allowing me to stay? Just checking what it actually says, and the stamp I got at Swampy says 'Admitted until 1-1-2011'. The last retirement extension says 'Extension of stay is permitted up to 1-1-2011'. There's a subtle difference there. One is a permission to stay, the other is a permission to extend your stay, but as far as I can see, it's not an actual permission to stay itself is it? Otherwise why bother with the permission to stay stamps when we arrive here if the extension already gives you permission?

Yes, the date on the extension is the permission to stay date.

If you leave the kingdom and don't have a re-entry permit when you return you will get either a a 30 day visa exempt stamp if arriving by air, or 15 days if arriving by land, or if you have a re-entry permit, you will be stamped in with the permission to stay date on the extension which is the same date as the one on the re-retry permit.

  10. Remember that if you want a multiple non-O in KL, you will need to show 100,000 baht in your bankaccount. Otherwise it will be Australia for a multiple.

    Hi

This seems to be just what I am looking for - could I ask for a little more info?

I have not had to do visa runs for nearly 20 years. However, circumstances changed. Last year I got a one year visa based on my marriage to my Thai wife but had to show bank statements for 400K in the bank for three months. This year I am unable to this as funds have dipped slightly below the requirement. I have just been given an extension for two months until December 3rd and was told by immigration that I would then need to leave the country and get a visa elsewhere.

From this thread I understand that I can fly to KL and get a multiple non-o based on my marriage with 100K in the bank.

Can anyone tell me what other documentation is required in addition to marriage papers, bank book/statement and wifes ID card. I want to do this visa run but I dont want to end up in KL without sufficient documentation. Also, it was mentioned that it is multiple entry for 1 year duration - I take it that means that I have to leave every three months (which is fine as I have other trips planned anyway) in the same way as I would with a multiple reentry permit.

Also - Does anyone know the cost of this visa? And is there any additional cost every three months? (like a reentry permit).

Thanks in advance for any info.

Is the highlighted statement above correct? The reason for asking is that I planned to apply for 1 year extension based on marriage (I'm currently on a retirement extension) in January, but my money won't be seasoned in time, so I was planning to extend for 60 days to allow the money to be seasoned, then extend for 1 year during the last 30 days of my permission to stay of the 60 day extension. Can I do this?

  11. I'v never reported my address within 24 hours. When I arrived in Thailand (Multi Non O visa), I lived in a hotel for 5 months while my house was being built. The hotel owner may have done itbut I doubt it. When I moved into the house, my wife didn't notify the police or immigration either. The first time immigration knew my new address (apart from the hotel address on my arrival card) was 4 months after arrival when I applied for residence certificate so I could get a thai car & motorbike licence. Now I am on a 1 year extension of stay so I report my address every 90 days, and my failure to report within 24 hours has never been mentioned.
