  1. If you are after an extension of stay based on retirement, it would be useful If you could state which immigration office you will be applying to, as we all know that different offices can have different requirements and then maybe someone who has had a recent experience at that office may be able to offer advice and share their experience with you....

  2. That may be your experience but not mine. I have a good Isaan wife and in laws too.

Well said mate.....me too.....I have a great wife and in laws same as you

  3. Yup, you sure have a life, a Thai life, but you pay the farang price. DUH

How can you make such a wild statement....you don't know me.....

  4. I can't understand why you are asking such a personal question on a public forum.....<deleted> If you are about to get married & already have a child, you must already know your wifes family pretty well....you are bound to get all the usual replies saying that you are being scammed....It sounds to me as though you are looking for a solution that doesn't make you look like an rsole to your local peers/mates etc....maybe I'm a million miles away from the real situation....if you really LOVE your partner & child then you shouldn't do anything to make her & her family lose face...by that I don't mean agree to every demand....

get a life pal my question was how much l should pay family as many farang have married on this site. as for the family they can say any number they like what l pay is what l am trying to find out. my personal life has nothing to do with this so relent on attacks on my person

OK Fair enough.....BTW I already have a life

  5. nothing. if she loves you money wont matter

if money is more important than you to her then find someone else.

Spot on mate....you hit the nail on the head exactly

I misinterpreted the second line in the post above......My brain interpreted it as "If money is more important to you then her"...so please ignore my comment which no longer applies.....DOH

  7. l have been with my girl 4 years now. she want to marry. we have a baby boy 4 months old now. l love her very much. how much should l pay for marry her and give to parents. she stay home with family in isann.

    god help me

Yes Dave, you are into the glue.

Your sinsot is not necessary because your couple hood is time tested and your love for her and your baby is evident.

The poor women is just being badgered by her family to squeeze some more money out of you.

You have to man up NOW

They will never stop nagging her, yapping about some other gal of their acquaintance who has shown her love for family by blackmailing the farang husband.

They will also be asking her who she thinks will take care of her in her old age.

They will mix examples from both cultures to make their point.

    Ad nauseam.

Get her to tell them to get lost.

Unhappy in life?? poor input to the OP. Though the parents want the money from the OP, it's their tradition to get sinsod form a man marrying their daughter. FIY: even the previously married woman, to remarry there is also sinsod involve, a lot less of course. The Thais always pay sinsod as it's part of their culture I see only the cheap Charlie farang trying to get away with it? Who shall get lost?

Sinsod, these days, has more of a symbolic value. Meaning, that of whatever the Sinsod consists of, it will be returned after marriage. AND: If wife was married previously, no Thai-Man would consider paying Sinsod in the first place.

Before marriage, OP should poke around a little in order to find out if a Sinsod would be returned after marriage. If not, above comment/assessment by "davetrout" would probably hit very close to home.

    Cheers.

If you are going to give a gift with the hope it is going to be returned to you, then better not to give the gift in the first place and then everyone knows what you are all about from day 1....

  9. Just a reminder that reporting every 90 days can be carried out by post. Just print out the form from the Thai Immigration Web Site and send it together with the required copies of your passport and the previous 90 day form (if any) together with a B10 stamped addressed envelope to yourself 15days prior to the 90 day deadline.

Not all immigration offices accept 90 day reports by post. The 2 offices nearest to me do not....

  10. why? an retirement extension has nothing to do with your wife, I have never had to produce these in 8 years.

It's not because she's my wife, it's because she has the blue book for the property which is my registered address when I apply for the extension. Do you not need to supply evidence of where you reside? See Ubonjoes post above...

  11. Spaniel.

I just renewed mine and that was all I brought. They did make me fill out a form (with help) that was all in Thai. Plus they wanted a copy of my wife's ID card.

I wonder why your wife's ID card is relevant to your retirement visa application.

My wife's tabbien ban and ID card are needed to verify that I am living at my wife's house when I renew my extension of stay based on retirement at Kap Choeng immigration

  12. I know Thais like to wait until the last minute to do anything.

    Are you already that Thai?

I am always 100% sure I am 100% ready at least one week before I go to Immigration.

Yes, I even research to be sure nothing new or different is required since my last visit.

It was only a 90 day check in, but I went to immigration yesterday.

In and out in less than 10 minutes.

Nothing but smiles from everyone in the office.

    It pays to be prepared.

100% agree been on three annual 1 year visa runs could not complain at all . Just make sure you have all the required documents , do everything with a smile and a 100 baht tea money things go as smooth as silk . The first time I went I had actually washed my old passport with the 1 year retirement multiple entry visa in and presented the new passport . The officer at immigration just checked on the computer and CALLED The Brisbane Thai embassy to check what I was saying was correct which took all of 10 minutes then just went through my documents and stamped my new passport in and out in about 30 minutes .

Why do you give them tea money? No need for this at all. Just have the right documents, be polite and have a reasonable appearance and everything will be OK.

  13. I live in Buriram province (Nongki) but do all of my 90 reports at Korat immigration because it is half the distance....most of the other farangs in Nongki do the same

This is a special waver that Korat Immigration has granted to those that live in the extreme western portions of Buriram Provence. you still have to do your yearly extension at Kap Choeng Immigration.

Yes I got my last extension at Kap Choeng.
