  1. I didn't know whether to post a new topic or use this already running thread about a question I have regarding the online visitor visa application. I'm sure a mod will move it if required. I have registered for the online service as I will be doing the donkey work for Mrs M's visa application later this year. On the Spouse / Partner section there is a question asking for details of any dependent children, including passport details etc. If they are not travelling to the UK do you specify No, or do you have to enter the details regardless?? See attachment

  2. The question shown ( current passport details) are your passport details. The question is actually aimed at applicants who may be married to, or traveling with, their spouse/partner who is not British or Thai, and the UKVI want to know his details too.

When it asks for the applicant's parents' details, if they don't have a passport just put none. The form is poorly designed, and ambiguous in places, unfortunately. It is also still in "Beta" (testing) mode since it came into being some time ago.

There is no option to specify "NONE" for applicant's parents details...all the required fields are mandatory as far as I can see...happy to be corrected though by someone more knowledgeable than me

  3. Sent much much more than was required, but better than not enough.

Thanks for sharing your personal experience with us, especially the info regarding supporting documentation. Very useful to me as Mrs M has decided she want's to visit the UK, so I am planning a short trip next year ....Did you have to get your fiancee's ID card & house book translated?

  4. I believe this is to facilitate the auto process, next 90 day report all you will need is passport, I noticed this last week that there were 2x people processing the 90 day reports and if you went to the lady at the computer people were told after that only passport needed in the future - no forms - no photo copies etc. Luck of the draw on the day, I was almost tempted to miss my turn so I could get the lady

I got my photo taken when I renewed my extension on Dec 11. I don't think the photo is to simplify 90 day reporting as they have had "paperless" reporting implemented for some time now @ Kap Choeng immigration...just my opinion of course

  5. Good update. When I did marriage extension in Udon, I always gave them 4 pictures, one outside the front gate (with house number), one at the front door showing interior, one in the living room and one with us all sitted on the bed in the bedroom. Each one also included NL Jr. Although a rather arcane requirement by some offices, I never found it too invasive but made sure that it was a completely new suite of photos each year.

Same for me NL....just done mine in Kap Choeng and provided same pics as you....and I also take new pics each year

  6. A year ago and longer, I read dozens, if not hundreds of posts on dozens of threads- indicating that paying the fine was the only negative consequence of being on overstay, and even multiple overstays.

The OP has posted a personal experience that reinforces the fact that things have actually changed. I, for one, appreciate the information.

The righteous moralistic (being polite here) responses to the OP are exactly why more people don't post their personal experiences. And the expat/tourist community here is poorer for it.

Nothing to do with being self righteous, moralistic ot holier-than-thou....I don't give a furk if you overstay by 1 hour, 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, 1 year or 25 years..it's just the fact that people start to bleat when a dilligent Immigration Official identifies and asks questons about previous transgressions and gives them a "hard time"...If you can't do the time...don't do the crime....

  7. I live in Buriram province but I do my 90 day reports in Nakhon Ratchasima province, as it is a 250Km round trip journey to Kap Choeng as opposed to a 120Km round trip to the immigration office @ Dan Kwien (Korat) office....most of my mates do the same, no problem

I just turn up with my passport (no other documents required) and am usually in and out in less than 5 minutes

  8. You can apply on the last day your permission to stay expires if you want...assuming that the immigration office is open of course. In your case, Feb 15 is a Sunday, so to be safe the last day would be Friday 13th.....I normally apply for a renewal of my extension to stay within the last 30 days before my permission to stay expires, which in your case would be between January 23 and February 13

  9. As william-pad wrote, DVB-S2 receivers sends +13vdc or +18vdc to select between TWO possible satellite signal feeds (polarized signals sent either Horizontally or Vertically).

If one of the DVB-S2 receivers is 'always' sending +18vdc up the coaxial line then it prevents the LNB Feed from ever selecting the opposite polarity necessary for the 'other' DVB-S2 box to receive the correct signal feed from the satellite.

Option One: Running TWO coaxial cables and using a Dual-Feed LNB.

Option Two: Using a Power Strip with individual ON/OFF circuits so you can power-OFF one DVB-S2 while the other is powered-ON might also work. **

** Option Two may cause issues with subscription updates ... meaning your subscription channels might give you an error while the box waits for the next timed update to be sent out.

Option Two is what I am currently doing. If I encounter issues regarding the timed updates then I will replace the current LNB with a dual feed LNB.

  10. Your set top box sends two voltages 13volts and 17 volts to select the signal polarity, this is where yoiu are having a conflict True uses the same polarity so no conflict with two true boxes.

You should buy a dual input LNB for around 500 baht and your boxes will run independantly, you will also need to run a second co-axial cable as well

    OK Thanks for the explanation

  11. I haven't contacted anyone regarding this. I've had 2 True boxes on the same feed before, so I don't think True are stopping anything.

It's not too much of a hassle for me really as I only watch the footy on a Saturday / Sunday night and I can just switch the True box off.

I don't want to pay any more than I'm already paying per month. The reason I got the RS Box is that it only costs 1800 baht to watch the EPL for the full season, as opposed to 599-899 baht per month charged by CTH....

  12. I currently have two set top boxes (True & RS Sunbox) running from a single cable connected to a True Visions satellite dish using a splitter. However, when I want to watch True, I need to power off (not just put in standby) the Sunbox and vice versa when I want to watch the EPL footy on the Sunbox I need to power off the True box. If I have one powered on and one in standby mode, I get a "No Signal" error. Would replacing the splitter with a combo booster / splitter fix the problem?

  13. The airlines can and will not allow you to board your flight if you do not have a visa if you do not have a ticket exiting Thailand within 30 days of your entry. Booking a cheap flight to a neighboring country will work, say Hat Yai to KL, but the cheapest option is to get tourist visas which will give you 40 days on entry and will only cost 1000 baht each.

Does the tourist visa not give you 60 days stay on entry ?
