  1. So you go around the 9 hole course, twice?

It's a very average course and i'm being kind.

Loch Palm is only 800 baht more for 18 holes but it's well worth it compared to Phunaka.

  2. Yes you do, they want proof where you live

try first with your 90 day adress report. worked for me at Phuket DLT

Go in with a bill of some sort with address on it and they will fill out a form to take to the DLT.

Didn't even have my name on it and they accepted it.

  3. No snamos. I was replying to your one-liner. Don't play innocent.

The topic is about bars, not roadside stalls and educated thai women.

Have you got anything to contribute or not?

    laugh.gif

I find it amusing that the chooks on here are getting ruffled.

    Ignore the old bar trolls.

Truth hit home with a few of the Rawai budget brigade who settle for a mute slave wife.

How nice it must be to live in the stone age.

  4. Good trick for Vindaloo the next day......have bogroll in the freezer all night.......and the next important thing is dont wipe......but pat....haha;)

That's what the bum gun next to the toilet is for.

Be careful though of the water pressure, the last thing you want to do is spray the vindaloo grog bog onto your scrotum.

  5. On the right coming from Icon if headed toward Nai Harn Beach, on the corner opposite The Freebird Bar & Restaurant.

Maybe the one you are thinking of is Typhoon? With all the wood decking and furniture, I understand they too have a breakfast buffet, but have heard it's hit and miss.

F1Fanatic consider yourself added to the list. Anyone that sits and watches a race where the pole sitter goes round and round for hours to victory (mind numbing) is also probably after hi-so ladies in Kata (which is a complete laugher). Good nite to all and to all a good nite !!

Ouch -that's told you F1fanatic, but I too follow F1, but I thought this was all about Rawai ??

    Typhoon - dreadful

M & M - food Ok, but dreadful owner (the Mrs half)

    Kallots - going downhill recently

    just my views jap.gif

You can put Norbu's on the going down list.

Never did i use the word "Hi So".

    It was educated.

Sorry for not wanting to date a non English speaking bargirl and sit in a restaurant over a meal with nothing to talk about.rolleyes.gif

You take everything i post to heart because it must hit home with you the hardest.

Did i strike a nerve? Are you the guy sitting out front of the mom & pop shops sipping your 35 baht beer down there on the concrete stools?

Rawai is a tip, yes it has good restaurants but i would not recommend anyone to stay there for a holiday.

  7. Maybe the point from Katasyd was that certain type of people will rob you, and if you hang around them or invite them back to your place you are asking to get robbed. Either in the morning when your to hungover to get out of bed, or later when the place has all ready been sussed out. I would hazard a guess and say that a great majority of break ins would be a set up by someone you know.

I've been robbed and its never been a stranger its all ways someone you trust or have trusted even if only for a brief period.

No one from this forum can tell me they regularly have the local long-tail captains, tuk tuk gangs or motorbike taxi drivers from Rawaii round at their house as great mates. And if they did I would be suprized if they didnt get robbed that night, they have no qualms about robbing tourists daily so whats the difference?

Rawaii has got a lot of crap from all nationalities and we will see this low season people getting kicked off motorbikes...houses getting robbed...and the occasional farang on farang murder.

The main reason it has a high crime rate is there is no police presence down there.

    Exactly.

It's the company you keep that always leads to trouble with break ins.

Either the maid, a bar girl or even your wifes brother/cousin/ wifes thai boyfriend can rob the house and you're none the wiser.

8 years and i have never had a crime committed against me and i put that down to hanging out with the right people and keeping out of bars.

When the local see you sitting on the bar stool day in day out, they know your patterns and know when to strike.

  8. Usually the domestics from bkk finish just before midnight but lots of the European flight land during the early morning hours.

Get to Singapore and jump on a budget airline.

Doesn't happen, no budget airlines from Singapore to Phuket until about 730am, same as KL

It's about the same time the domestics start up from Bkk.

No luck getting direct form Perth to Phuket even through Thai?

They are empty most of the time.

  10. Grumpy.I hang with a circle of other expats and we don't frequent bars to get the village idiots with rice stuck between their toes.

I like to hang with Thai girls that are educated and don't mind paying their own way in life as well as good conversation over dinner and sense of humor, that's most important to me than a young trophy wife that's half my age that understands every second word i say.

Conversations with 'Hab" or 'Lent' instead of "have" or "rent" don't really get my interest when talking to someone.

I'm sorry but i set my standards a little higher than the bar flies.

If this is what happens when i hit 60, i'll blow my brains out or leave.

  11. I must admit, i don't socialize at the local mom & pop shop drinking 35 baht Chang's out front to even get to know these so called wealthy landlords.

A 'majority' of these 'landlords' sold out many years ago when the land was cheap, they stayed on at their smaller plot and bought fortuners and built a humble home with the money.

I don't drink. And yes.... I'm sure you don't socialize with Thais...

If they are pretty and have a Vagina, i socialize.

How many male farangs really hang out with male Thai's outside work?

Be honest because i don't know of any.

  12. What are you talking about? If they've been here for generations they own land. Do you know any native Rawai families? The ones I know are pretty well off! They collect rent, not pay it. Food at the outdoor Thai markets is less in Rawai than other places I've been in Thailand, like Sa Kaew....

Go up to Kamala and see the muslims that are now driving new Mercedes and BMW from their sell outs, leaves pitiful Rawai/Nai harn as it's rural dustbowl of crime and horrid empty shophouses that now litter the place.

Good luck to anyone who got rich out of that hole, i'd sell out too.

  13. What do you expect?

    It's Nai harn..

    same shit in Rawai...

    True.

I think it's because the people who have lived there for generations see themselves being priced out everywhere.

Land, rent, food and pay rises don't happen here.

At least the Russians that have flooded the area because it's cheap will be their new unsuspecting victims.

  14. Tried it today for lunch (bangers and mash) and both the dark and the light full strength beers. A2 and A3 on the menu.

Great taste and such a difference from the Thai beers i have gotten used to but the huge ship in the middle of the pond blocks any exposure it could have and needs desperately.

I'm afraid it will die if some decent marketing doesn't get poured into the place.

  15. I think I will take the back box off the truck and reverse it to a bikers bar entrance and rev the guts out of it.

After all they seem to like the racket and smell.

A little dramatic don't you think?

I understand the noise complaints from the old rum hounds who goes to bed drunk at 6.30pm but how many do you really hear on any given day? And for how long as it passes by?

I'm on the road everyday and cover at least 500kms a week around the island and i rarely see or hear a loud Harley and if i do, i check it out as a nice machine and bare the noise for the 5 seconds it takes to pass me by.

Most of you forget that we enjoy these grey area rules here that were once allowed back home but now are heavily enforced by the nanny states that Australia, England etc has become.

There are more pressing issues on this island than noise pollution.

  16. Democrats win = No change in anything really for Phuket and this current administration looks like it's trying to solve some pressing issues, something that Thaksin failed to do in his time a the helm.

Puea Thai win = Problems.... This 'democrat' island will be punished and budgets and people in power will be reshuffled.

As much as i hate politics here and don't even like discussing the Thai form of democracy but anything Thaksin coming back into power is not a good thing.

It will just be about revenge and recouping his money exercise and local issues will go back to the way it was.

  17. Great day yesterday but then came the termites flying around in the evening.

Had to turn all the lights off in the house to stop them hanging around, millions and millions of them.

The pool is full of them today.

  18. I don't get this forum.

It is becoming a place to come and rant and whine about annoyances in Phuket.

Let people be, if they are having a midlife crisis and a noisy bike makes them feel better, so be it.

Many more noisy annoyances come to mind before a odd Harley Davidson riding by.

Noisy election pick ups spewing out noise pollution along with the train of them that advertise a furniture sale nearby.

Modified scooters and modified pick ups blowing out black smoke along with the noise.

I could go on but it's a beautiful Sunday and i'm going out to enjoy it, noisy bikes and all.
