  1. I would put the towel charge down to bad management and should be calculated in monthly overheads much like toilet paper and napkins.

Service charges in restaurants is starting to creep in, i understand why hotels do it but now restaurants?

I like it better when i tipped based on the actual service and not just getting 10 percent tacked onto the bill for shitty rude service.

    Greed has many angles.

  2. Patong is really bad.

Tourists knee deep in Bangla but they seem to be enjoying it.

Beach road is now 2 way and i like it as it used to be because once you go past Bangla is where it's thigh deep.

After trying two ways( Patong and Chalong east and west) to get to Central, i gave up and went had a beer.

  3. Take it to Phuket town.

I can't remember the name but the Apple shop in central recommend them and use them for warranty work.

Please don't take it to big c, they couldn't even change the front glass without breaking clips that held it in place and left me with a loose front glass.

It made the home button sunk in and annoying.

  4. Hugely inflated market with build quality being questionable on a majority of the properties on the market.

Patience is the key and i always wait for the after high season sales from people who went another year without a bite and just want out and sell at cost.

You are so right, i looked at some new houses being built 2 to 3 years ago

They were selling for between 2.5 and 3.2M

We looked at one of these houses recently, it was not well looked after,

The owner was asking 6.2 willing to reduce to 5.7M

I told him no thank you and wished him the best of luck as far as selling it.

    So you settled for Rawai.

Was it a budget choice or a lifestyle choice?

  5. Auto express Phuket are overly expensive.

The SLS is listed at 24 million but can be had for same spec in Bkk for around 18 million.

If anyone is in the market for a supercar, don't buy in Phuket.

24 million baht cars sold at 18 million baht usually will have a later issue with revenue department

    Not true.

All grey market cars need to clear customs and pay duties before dealers can take delivery and place the car in the showroom, not the other way around.

If there are irregularities with the car, it's caught there or someone is paid off (revenue department) and the car is released.

Do you really believe the revenue department would investigate their own dirty deeds.?ermm.gif

There are tricks to lowering taxes.

I seen Porsche coupes registered as 7 seaters, as long as the horsepower and engine capacity is correct it will be fine but it's common now that they tear down new cars and import them as parts and then reassemble the car here and register it, that's the risky purchase so you gotta be on the look out when inspecting the car but it's quite easy to spot.

  7. Just notch it up as another frustration.

What about the cars parked at the somtum stand just after the new Big Buddha lights headed North.

Cars try to go straight from both lanes and end up merging into one which causes a bottle neck everytime the lights turn green, all because they park wherever.

Just yesterday, there was a 3 wheeled traffic maker just parked in the middle of the lane as he ran in to get his somtum.annoyed.gif

  8. Without even common insurance in case of an accident and at risk of losing limbs or worse?

Also at the mercy of the local law enforcement who will just set the nets at the circle and watch the tea money roll in so you forgot to factor at least four 400baht fines onto that monthly tally.

    Motorbikes aren't for everyone.

15 years driving here in Thailand and I've never paid any tea money. Having a valid Thai DL, correct tax & insurance helps a lot. I have been fined a few times, but only because I was in the wrong (speeding/blocking a left turn at light/no tax disc displayed).

Having personal accident insurance is a MUST requirement if driving a bike.

    Long time resident with experience.

Tell that to Jack and Jill on their package deal Phuket holiday with no experience on Thai roads let alone on a motorbike.

Yes it's the cheapest but not if you just take one wrong turn, literally.

  9. a decade on bikes in Phuket, daily past +8 years, thats some 2800 days, never been asked for teamoney by local law enforcement. Riding with valid DL, lights on, tax visible and helmet on, you do not get fined in Phuket

as for Insurance, anyone outside their home countrys Insurance cover, should make sure they have valid medical/accident-Insurance for where they travel and/or live. Doesnt need to go with the vehicle, in most cases it does not. The individueal needs to be Insured.

but I agree, motorbikes are not for everybody. Those not comfortable can rent a car for 12-15k a month, or buy a new Nissan March at 375k baht

I wasn't asking about you, a long time resident and daily rider with police connections through the Farang 'I'm bored' tourist police.

Think of the 2 week holidayers who have never ridden a bike or licensed to ride one for that matter.

What about elderly and children tourists?

I saw a guy getting fined for tax not being paid on a rented bike and having it confiscated.

Just think of his nightmare that ensued, probably had to pay the renter for the confiscated untaxed bike.

For someone inexperienced and unlicensed, the costs will add up in fines and potentially damages of the rented bike.

  10. 3000 baht for auto bike and 1000 baht for fuel takes you more than 1000km around Phuket a month, anywhere at any time.

Would like to now where transportation cost less

  11. Conclusions.

1.Nothing beats Australian Rexona men Sport 48 hour deoderant, nothing!!!

Thai NIvea or other crap branded sprays work for about 30 mins and then i'm wet.

    2.

Australian Milo is spectacular compared to the shredded up, dried cat shit excuse they call Milo in Asia.

    3.

Tim Tams, Asia Market Tim Tams have a warning on the packet 'Not to be sold in Australia or NZ'

I think it's due to the chocolate quality and Australians won't accept those as quality.

I could go on but i'd be accused of whinging and told to go home if i don't like it.

I got a nice list for you next time snamos.

  12. So you go around the 9 hole course, twice?

It's a very average course and i'm being kind.

Loch Palm is only 800 baht more for 18 holes but it's well worth it compared to Phunaka.

Yes you are right it is an avarage course and has 6 par 3's so at 1600 bht which is the normal price I would not go, but the price is right at the moment, I have been past Loch Palm a few times and looks good but I assumed it would be very expensive,

Just looked at Loch Palm web site.. 3700 bht for 18 holes plus 300 bht for caddy, sorry but how is that 800 more than Phunaka??

Oh just noticed 300 bht caddy fee has to be paid before you play, so another tip will have to be paid after the game, making this course way to expensive..

Red mountain 6500 bht for 18 holes crazy prices, no problem if you are rich though... I wouldent pay these prices in the UK and don't intend paying them here, but would love to play one of these courses in the future, maybe once!!!!!

Local membership is available at Loch Palm. I think it costs 2000 baht for a year and after that it's about 1700 baht a round, and that's a reasonable price. You need a work permit or Thai driving licence to qualify for local membership.

Mine's expired as I just haven't played for ages, partly because I haven't mustered up the enthusiasm and partly because after years of playing on an occasional basis, I am still crap!

I would have replied but you said it best.

    Thank you.

Anyone who is serious about golf won't even consider playing there.
