  1. Hi there.

I'm new on this forum and this is my first post... Would appricite to get some information regarding electricity rates in Thailand (Phuket).

Just recently bought 3 bedroom pool villa at Phuket lived there for one month (two families) and got electricity bill THB 15,600.-

Have used 2600 units (kwh) which is ok I suppose with 4pcs A/C and the pool. But THB 6 for 1 unit is obviosly too much.

So would be nice if some one could provide me with some kind of official Thai electricity rates? Or explain, how they

    calculate the total bills?

    Thank's in advance.

Pretty much explained above but you are getting hosed.

I used 3417 units this month and my bill was 13900 incl tax.

  2. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the "bar girl branding"; the standard across the lower back tattoo that lots of bar girls seem to have. It's nice of so many girls to have made the effort to give you something to look at when having fun, but it really is a form of "branding". They might be better off just getting an "I'm a hooker flag" that they can carry around, but still be able to get away from in the future! laugh.gif

    The good old tramp stamp.

The western women drove that into popularity and more common on them than the thai's.

  3. There is a semi new place in the Rawai area called "My Friend You" Bar. There is also a massage right next door with the same name. Last time I went the place was a really quiet. Playing some light jazz music. Lady that works there said all beers were 50 BAHT all day 10am till 3 pm. After 3 PM they went up to regular price. She said something about an "opening promotion", not too sure how long that it will last. Did not go there intentionally to drink, instead opted for a massage next door. The massage though was excellent. Came out one very :D customer.

It's not your typical bar, there were absolutely no other girls working, and also they do not have a TV so no sports! Not too sure where their game plan is headed. Private atmosphere, cheap beer, and massage. Worked for me. Coming up from Rawai beach head towards Nai Harn beach and it's located 1500 meter on the left side.

    laugh.gif@ My friend you bar.

If there was ever a post that painted a picture of the typical Rawaiian lifestyle, this is it.

Came out one very :D customer.

    No pun intended? saai.gif

  4. Its in the hotel but its hardly posh or expensive.

I've walked in there with no shoes and eaten.

Its 280 or 300 baht for 3 pieces of snow fish with fries which is very reasonable.

  5. Puravarna at naiharn has the best fish and chips.

Snow fish in light beer batter and malt vinegar.

    Try it. Its amazing...

    Where is Purvana?

I want to know as well. I'll for sure try it.

The old meridian hotel at the north end of naiharn beach.

  6. 8. Phuket is the perfect location to meet nationalities from all over the globe. If you've never met, for example, an Australian, the island provides ample choice to meet these enchanting folk and be regaled by tales of their own beautiful country, at least 100 years of recorded history (really), their prized flannelette shirt collection, cult of the Bogan, etc. Compliment your treasured holiday experiences to Phuket with such; holiday + education, gotta be a bargain int hese tough times.

    Never a truer word spoken.

phuket is piling these package deal bogans fresh out of Perth.

High season is here and it's summer back home so we are spared until next rainy season.

  7. V few tourists get attached to the local women. They may enjoy the 'service' provided, but only a small minority are stupid enough to believe they are 'hansum man' and end up in trouble.

Most tourists have a great time and, as long as they avoid the jet skis and motorbikes (unless they are used to riding them at home) - will be just fine and have a wonderful holiday.

The beaches are great, everybody is friendly (a tourist need not realise why) and the weather is a dam_n sight better than back at home!

Probably one sucker on every plane landing here.

    More likely than you think.

  8. You mean the guys who have never owned or run a successful business in there home country

Come here and invest 200000 to 2M baht in a business they cannot possibly own and think they are going to make a good living from it

Exactly. One gets off every plane from Australia.

I looked back at ricksters posts and they are mostly phuket related so its obvious he lives here, I just don't understand if people are unhappy here, why stay and gripe?

I have met guys with this mindset and they are just plain miserable but have invested to the point that if they went home, they would be in the housing commision.

    sad really.

  9. Just another one of the moaners who lives here and has probably realized it isn't for them but they have invested too heavily here to leave.

1000's of them here so just ignore it.

I know more people here who don't invest in business but enjoy the lifestyle

I fall into this category but we are far and few between.

I'm talking about the guys who came for a holiday and never left and with minimal means of income.

They sell up back home only to become disillusioned with their poor choices in business (bars for example) and women (bars again), hence the posters with that 'don't come to phuket' attitude.

I guess its easier to live day to day and blame the island for poor choices rather than themselves but if that's the way people deal with their misery, all the power to them.

You can't tell me that a new victim doesn't arrive everyday.

  10. It's sad to read your comments (which I truly appreciate!) as I thought I found myself a 20-25,000 Baht/month beachfront house in Phuket...

Is there a chance to find a 20-30,000 Baht/month beach house (not a condo) directly on a beach which is suitable for swimming?

I am not looking for those luxury, swimming pool, fancy stuff, 1 br would be just fine, the view and the location are what's important for me.

I am asking you guys cuz you live there and I know that Internet prices never reflect the real prices of rent.

Thx again for your comments and help!

20k to 30k for a beach house is cheap and for a reason.

Crap place to swim and it's hardly a beach unless you love the smell of diesel fuel from the longtails.

Let me guess, it's the house next door the the yacht club with a dog and a quirky entrance?

  11. In gang culture the teardrop under the eye (usually left eye) can mean they killed someone, but it also can mean they spent time in prison. (like the spider web on the elbow) It can also mean they lost a loved one or one of their homeys, or if on a woman, that her husband is in prison.

No idea about the tattoo behind tg's ear

You forgot about the door hinge on the inside of the elbow.

    It hides track marks well.

  12. 1. Beware the huffing and puffing of farang Thai defenders – humour them and trust your own judgement.

    2. Thai television soaps are mind numbingly dreadful, but they will inform/educate you as what it will be like should you choose to have a TGF and associate with her family.

    3. Patong to the airport is possible in 18 minutes.

    4. Never steal another man's rhubarb.

    5. Cover up on the beach – flabby sunburnt tits, ones that look like old witches leather purses or rotten apples will offend the locals and make the soi dogs howl for hours on end.

    6. Understanding Thai phrases:

"I no work bar – I only hab work cashier" - I work bar.

    (insert your own here...)

    "6. Understanding Thai phrases:

"I no work bar – I only hab work cashier" - I work bar."

    LOL very true

    No V's in Thailand.

    No hab.

    I lup you darlink.

Anything with a V is desecrated by Thais.
