When we had our son at the Ratchasima Thonburi in Korat the 3 day/2 night package was 27k baht.

My wife needed a caeserian and they immediately switched package and the new price was 36k baht.

The hospital has now become part of the Bangkok Hospital Group so I am not sure of there new package prices.

But the cost of our visits to the paediatrician there have only increased about 15%.

Just out of interest, and I am sure many others who have followed this thread would like to know, how much did you end up paying?

Well its nearly a year since we last tried this so here we go again.....

Quite a lot of people have expressed a view that it would be nice to have a SOCIAL club in Korat….but past attempts have failed for whatever reason.

Any type of club has to have some form of structure……so a suggestion is to form a SOCIAL club along the lines of the Roundtable or Rotary bur a tad less formal.

Where members meet every week or two weeks for a meeting, dinner and libation and once a month arrange a FAMILY day out.

I’m posting this to see if there is enough interest to arrange the 1st meeting and then we’ll take it from there.

All and any CONSTRUCTIVE comments are welcome!!

I had the same problem a couple of years back.

When I made the application for the extension of my Non Imm 'O' I explained that I was leaving the country in 3 weeks.

They dated my under consideration stamp for the day I was flying out and asked me to come to Immigration that day for a further extension to cover the time I would be out of Thailand.

When I went back my application had been approved so I got the 12 month extension.

However they had been very helpful and were quite happy to cover the dates I would be out of Thailand.

I have the Diesel 3.0L manual and have driven about 55k Kilometres.

I get 10kms per lit on short journeys and 11+ on long trips.

I obtained an extension of stay under 7.17.(5) at the Korat Immigration Office.

Applied 9th March and got the full 12 month extension 21st March.

In the past 2 months I have attended at least 4 funerals, 3 100 day tamboons, 4 weddings and 3 for young men going into the temple.

These are the ones I personally went to, my wife went to at least as many again.......

Over Songkran there were a couple of parties for other reasons that I am not sure about.

Some are family members and some just people from the village or locality.

My wife has 8 brothers (1 dead) and 1 sister. Also her family have lived in the village for more than 70 years so she knows everyone in the area!!!

Village life is one big party!!!

I am looking for information on things to do in Nakhon Ratchasima (Khorat). I am visiting in the near future at the Sima Thani hotel and I am looking for entertainment information. What is near the Sima Thani hotel - bars, etc. Any help would be appreciated.

Let me get this straight. You are asking a forum primarily populated with falang ladies in Thailand about what bars to go to in Korat? Actually, I could tell you, since I live there....but I won't. I don't want Korat to turn into another Pattaya or Bangkok.

Why whats available in Pattaya or Bangkok thats not freely available in Korat?

Hello members, long time reader first time poster. Can any board members who stay in Korat suggest an agency or personal contact that might have some tips on locating a long term house rental? My family and I are getting ready to return to the area and need a two or three bdrm house in a good area with western standards, any help would be greatly appreciated.

A cautionary word, in LOS and life be well prepared for the unexpected....

If you had 400K in the bank and at least 15 days left on your tourist visa exemption stamp, you could of converted it to a Non O in Thailand without going to the Embassy.

The change of visa has different rules than the extension of stay which require a family income of 40,000 Baht per month. The change of visa will allow the use of money in the bank.

Having just married at the most expensive time of year paid for party/guest stop overs etc. on top of the dowry leaves me short of the 400k for 1 month till more funds are transfered.

My VOA expires 15th Jan so only 13 days left. Believe the only option open to me for now is 90 day single entry non "o" from outside the kingdom with my income verified by British Embassy and extension when back in LOS ???

Sunbelt raises an interesting point about the differences between coverting to Non Imm 'O' and extending an exisisting Non Imm 'O'.
